NIAGARA 20/20

OUR MISSION TO SPARK THE JEWISH SOUL AND A SENSE OF JEWISH PRIDE FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL WHO WE ENCOUNTER – BOTH RESIDENTS AND VISITORS – REGARDLESS OF BACKGROUND OR AFFILIATION TO SERVE AS A HUB FOR JEWISH LIFE FOR JEWS OF ALL AGES, A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE ARE EXCITED TO CONNECT TO THEIR HERITAGE IN A FUN AND MEANINGFUL WAY TO PROVIDE A HOME AWAY FROM HOME THAT PROVIDES ALL THE NECESSARY COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR THE NIAGARA COMMUNITY AND OUR TOURIST GUESTS

Dear Friends, When we established Chabad of Niagara in 2005, we began with a simple and refreshing premise, one that continues to serve as our core value today: Be open to every single Jew, and serve their material, spiritual, and social needs. To this day we remain committed to the ideal to serve the Niagara Jewish community and its thousands of visitors, to connect each individual, regardless of commitment and background. For the last ten years, that’s exactly what we’ve worked to create. Through the programs of Chabad at Niagara, we have strived to connect the hearts and minds of neighborhood residents and visitors with a Jewish life that is vibrant, engaging, and creative. We are proud of the community we have created together. We are also humbled by how deeply the community has embraced and supported us over the years. One of the greatest challenges has always been lacking the necessary facilities to meet the diverse and evolving needs. Our community requires a space that can cater to the waves of tourists without disrupting local community programs and services; expansive and flexible facilities that can host a variety of programs and events simultaneously; an atmosphere that encourages casual participation and interaction; enough facilities to meet the diverse needs within our community. Fortunately, we have such a property in a great location in central downtown Niagara Falls, which we are using as our current Jewish Welcome Centre. We recently acquired the neighboring property, enabling us expand and construct the perfect centre that will adequately serve both our community and our visitors. The new Jewish Welcome Centre is designed to be an iconic landmark our community can be proud of, while fitting seamlessly into Niagara Falls — modern aesthetics combined with high quality of life and an appreciation for art and culture. It will be a unique Jewish centre that fits the lifestyle and needs of our unique community and its visitors, a place we will all be proud to be part of. We look forward to your participation on this historic journey, and look forward to greeting you in the new centre in 2020. With Blessings, Rabbi Zalman and Perla Zaltzman Directors

A place that constantly innovates new ways to serve the needs of its community. A place that embraces everyone. A place where everyone feels at home. W O M E N ’ S M I K VA H The very idea to build a new Jewish Welcome Centre initially began as a project spearheaded by family and friends to construct the first mikvah (ritual bath) in Niagara Falls in loving memory of Moussia Zaltzman OBM. As a result, one of the highlights of the new centre will be a magnificent, state-of-the-art Mikvah that will serve the local community and visitors from around the world.

IN MEMORY OF

MOUSSIA ZALTZMAN OBM

In her six short years of life, Moussia Zaltzman OBM was a tremendous source of inspiration to all who knew her. It is hard to imagine how such a sweet child, bursting with life, joy, and youthful energy, could so suddenly be taken from this world. Our hearts are broken, yet we know her beautiful soul continues to shine brightly as she takes her lofty place in the heavens. By building this special mikvah in her name, we honour her memory, elevate her soul, and forge an everlasting connection.
