Convention Is Coming Hi folks! Let me ask you a question. Have you registered for the 2013 convention and made your hotel reservation? If so, you have already made a wise decision. You have chosen to invest in the future of your business. You will learn, learn, learn while in Athens. Also, we are going to play, play, play. There are so many incredible events from downtown Safaris to parties and socials. The opportunity to do some social networking, face-to-face, is immeasurable. If you have not made plans to attend, let me see if I can twist your arm. Convention registration is only $49. That’s a bargain, period. I don’t want to even think of what it would cost to study privately with the team of professionals George Singleton has lined up for you. Also, every event is in easy walking distance from our host and partner hotels. If you don’t want to walk, hop in a shuttle. You will arrive at the front door. This year, we will present the first ever Southeastern Photographic Fellowship degree ribbons. You and your colleagues have been working hard to achieve this all new SEPPA degree and you should be there to celebrate your accomplishment! Did I mention Athens? Have you been to Athens? If you go home hungry, well, it’s your own fault. There are over 100 restaurants within easy walking distance from all of our events. All I can say is, YUM! One last note, for this month, we present the Saturday, regular convention classes. For a complete convention brochure, visit www.4seppa.com and click on the convention link. I hope to see you there.

The SEPPA Board of Governors, at the 2010 meeting in Franklin, TN, approved the all new SEPPA Degree Program. The Southeastern Photographic Fellowship is now a reality! You can earn your new SPF Degree in two categories. The orange ribbon is earned with a concentration in print credits, the purple ribbon with a concentration in service to the organzation. The requirements for both options are completed with education and/or service credits. You may also achieve both Degrees, signafied by a purple and orange ribbon. SEPPA will post the Credit Chart and submission forms at a later date. Be sure to check back. All events, beginning April 1, 2010 will be eligible to submit for credit.

EVERNOTE

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve tried most of the notebook/notetaking/handwriting apps available for my iDevices. And then I found Evernote. I was looking for an app that I could use to take notes at the studio, at home, wherever...and be able to access them from any device. Evernote suits my needs--both at work and at home and is now my “go to” app when I need to keep track of something. Here’s how I’m using Evernote for the studio: I use the Evernote Web Clipper whenever I’m browsing

the web and see something that I want to use for inspiration. Whether it’s a new pose, a lighting setup that might work for a senior or a cool marketing idea, I have it in one of my notebooks. I’ve started keeping notebooks for some of my clients-notes for holiday cards, ideas for future sessions...they’re all stored here. In 2013 I’ll have notebooks for seniors, families, debutantes and children. Evernote can also do geotagging. Let’s say I’m out driving on a Sunday afternoon and come across a great place

to photograph. I can make a note with my iPhone or iPad, it gets geotagged and I can find it again by using Map View. I’m also using Evernote to keep track of resources. Many times I’ll research specifics for a client and I can clip articles and sample images from the web. This is a great help during a design session!

Here’s how I’m using Evernote for Rotary:

And...I’ve just discovered Evernote Food:

I’m the program coordinator for my club and it’s my job to keep up with all the suggestions that come to me for future speakers. I keep a separate notebook for program information that I can review when it’s time for me to plan the next month’s programs. Again, I can clip websites and include contact information so that I’m only looking in one spot--this has been a real timesaver for me!

It lets me keep notes on great places I’ve eaten, or helps me when I’m preparing new recipes at home. My family is on a mission to eat more healthfully and keeping track of ingredient substitutions is a must! If 2013 is your “year of organization” you’ll want to give Evernote a look. It’s a free app and it’s available on all your devices: iPhone, iPad, Mac AND Windows. There is a small fee if you choose to upgrade to Premium service but when you compare the cost of your time and your information, it’s a worthwhile investment.

Here’s how I’m using Evernote for East Coast School: You’d be amazed at all the notes, bits of paper and such that come my way for ECS. Using Evernote keeps them all organized...and it’s a great way to make my notes for the upcoming year...plus I can drop in travel plans for our instructors, speaker and hotel contracts and I can tag items for easier finding later.
