Es por ello que cerramos esta temporada, con nuestra edición 89, experimentando a través de aquellos seres que capturan la magia de ser alguien diferente por ratos, lo cual solo es posible alcanzar al lograr difuminar los límites que demarcan la línea entre la realidad y la ficción. Dedicamos el especial Todo por el libreto a los nuevos talentos de la actuación hispana en Estados Unidos y el mundo, figuras que se enfocan en sentir el drama del complejo universo de las artes escénicas. En portada, nos dejamos llevar ‘despacito’ por las curvas de la puertorriqueña Zuleyka Rivera, con la guitarra y las líricas pegajosas del cantautor Mario Cáceres, entre relatos de vida, cine, música y un paseo extravagante por las calles de Nueva York, lo mejor para decir adiós al 2017 y abrazar la etapa más emocionante, nueva e intransitada, esa que está por comenzar. CARLOS CARIDAD MONTERO Periodista y cineasta venezolano graduado de la Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Caracterizado por un estilo incisivo y subversivo, estrenó en 2015 su ópera prima, 3 Bellezas, largometraje de ficción que expuso la obsesión de la cultura venezolana por los certámenes de mises y su trasfondo social y familiar. Editor del sitio web blogacine.com y fundador de la productora cinematográfica Nomenclatura Films, ha participado con distintas obras audiovisuales en festivales internacionales como Cannes, Sao Paulo y Bilbao. Dedicó en esta edición unas líneas al actor puertorriqueño Benicio del Toro en Personajes.

This is the premise reflected by Natalia Mazzei Zubillaga (NMZ)’s designs. She is a Venezuelan fashion designer based in New York who developed the look for our 89 edition, two glamorous designs that bring a light and very feminine touch. She defines her works as flattering pieces and designs, focused on the female exploration today, providing a range of alternatives when dressing, highlighting the details of each product and making it versatile for any occasion.

NATALIA MAZZEI ZUBILLAGA Sensibilidad, pureza y espontaneidad materializada en atuendos cómodos que a la vez son dinámicos, ideales para usarlos a diario. Esta es la premisa característica de los diseños de Natalia Mazzei Zubillaga (NMZ), diseñadora venezolana radicada en Nueva York que elaboró el Look para nuestro número 89, dos propuestas glamurosas que brindan un toque ligero y muy femenino. Define sus trabajos como piezas y diseños favorecedores, enfocados en la exploración de la feminidad en la actualidad, otorgando una gama de alternativas a la hora de vestir, resaltando los detalles de cada producto y haciéndolo versátil para cualquier ocasión.

He discovered his talent as a photographer five years ago, in a trip to New York, United States. The Big Apple was his source of inspiration, helping him see that architecture and urban photography would represent his goal. Portraits, landscapes, buildings, events ... Jefferson considers it necessary to explore among photography, in order to achieve a comprehensive work, needed in this highly competitive industry. However, the greatest desire of this Venezuelan photographer based in Panama is to cover musical events and concerts, which are his passion when it comes to capturing moments. His talent joins our pages in Fashion Runway section.

JEFFERSON ISAVA Descubrió su talento como fotógrafo hace cinco años, durante un viaje a Nueva York, Estados Unidos. La Gran Manzana le sirvió como fuente de inspiración, permitiéndole ver que la arquitectura y la fotografía urbana significarían su norte. Retratos, paisajes, edificios, eventos… Jefferson considera necesario explorar entre la fotografía, para así lograr un trabajo integral, necesario en esta industria tan competitiva. Sin embargo, este venezolano radicado en Panamá lo que más anhela cubrir son eventos musicales y conciertos, que son su pasión a la hora de capturar momentos. uleyka Rivera es una de esas artistas que no le teme a nada, segura de sí misma, decidida y encaminada a mostrar sus convicciones. Combinar su pasión en el modelaje, la actuación y los negocios con un norte bien definido, teniendo muy claro siempre hacia dónde quiere llegar, la ha llevado a ser reconocida como la mujer más bella, a cautivar al mundo entero con su presencia en el video de Despacito y a encantar al público en la pantalla chica, brillando en las telenovelas, teniendo una afinidad especial con las antagonistas. Todo mientras dedica su mayor esfuerzo a la principal de sus motivaciones: ser mamá. Una morena puertorriqueña que busca imprimir espontaneidad, elegancia y sinceridad en todo momento, siendo ella misma al frente y detrás de las cámaras, siempre con el deseo de llevar la esencia de la feminidad por el mundo. Desde Miami, en entrevista con Tendencia, nos cuenta cómo se ha reinventado constantemente desde aquella ocasión en la que fue coronada Miss Universo, en 2006, cuando obtuvo de la vida una gran oportunidad para aprovechar el mejor de los comienzos. ¿Qué sentiste al ser el rostro que cautivó países como Japón, China, Rusia, Italia y muchos más, con el video de Despacito? > Sin duda, Despacito ha sido uno de los proyectos con mayor resonancia que he realizado en mi carrera. Con el Miss Universo logré conquistar público de todas partes del mundo, pero ahora, con todo el movimiento de las redes sociales, ha sido mucho más notable la diversidad de seguidores que tengo. Esto es algo que me llena de mucho orgullo y lo veo como una gran oportunidad de seguir creciendo y ayudando a empoderar a las mujeres. Ahora que fuiste parte de un fenómeno viral, ¿cómo se vive esto, una vez que se desatan los likes, comentarios y visitas en redes sociales? > Jajaja, yo siempre trato de vivir mi vida lo más normal posible, disfrutándome cada instante, con mi hijo, mi familia y amigos. Eso es parte del trabajo, y quizás al haber logrado algo tan grande como el Miss Universo a tan corta edad, ya siento todo esto como algo normal en mi vida.

That is part of the job, and perhaps by having achieved something as great as the Miss Universe at such a young age, I already feel all this as something normal in my life.

Cuando te coronaron Miss Universo, te convertiste en celebridad en un parpadeo. Hoy, once años después, has sobrevivido a los embates de una industria llena de competencia y un espinado camino al éxito. ¿Cuál ha sido la clave para triunfar y sentirte orgullosa de tu trabajo? > Nunca rendirme ni conformarme con nada. De igual forma, tampoco aceptar las cosas que no me hacen sentir cómoda. Yo mi trabajo me lo vivo y disfruto plenamente, y lucho día a día por convertirme en una mejor profesional y mejor ser humano. ¿Cuál consideras que es el mensaje que debe llevar la mujer latina por el mundo? > No solo la mujer latina, sino todas las mujeres. Somos iguales que los hombres y podemos lograr lo que sea que nos propongamos. Tenemos que darnos el valor que nos merecemos y apoyarnos las unas a las otras. Debemos alegrarnos por los triunfos de todas, y ayudar a quienes necesitan ese empujoncito para salir hacia delante. Tu semblante de celebridad mundial te ha conducido a reinventarte, ¿cómo has vivido el proceso de manejarte entre tantas

facetas, como las de actriz, presentadora, modelo y empresaria? > Algo que sí he aprendido al llevar tantos años en esta industria es que hay que reinventarse e intentar todas las cosas que te apasionan. Yo amo lo que hago, desde posar frente una cámara, bailar, hablar con la gente y empoderarla, hasta hacer negocios, crear ideas e influenciar la mayor cantidad de personas que esté a mi alcance. Soy sumamente activa y me encanta siempre estar haciendo cosas diferentes, que produzcan resultados.

Tenemos un corazón gigante con el cual siempre estamos ayudando y apoyando a todo el que lo necesita. Es esa actitud, y el amor a nuestra hermosa isla, la que va a ayudar a que Puerto Rico vuelva a ser la Isla del Encanto. A nadie le debe caber duda de eso. Es momento de todos ayudarnos como hermanos y hermanas y aportar cada cual en lo que pueda para que nuestra isla vuelva a la normalidad lo antes posible. Los boricuas, no importa donde estemos, siempre tenemos nuestra patria en el corazón.

¿Cómo no ser otra cara bonita y trascender en el mundo del entretenimiento? > La parte estética es importante, eso no se puede negar. No por el qué dirán, sino porque ayuda a una a sentirse mejor y más segura. Por eso cuido siempre mi cuerpo y trato de estar siempre arreglada. Pero esto es solo una parte, pues para poder trascender en esta industria tan competitiva, una tiene que tener mucho

What are the values that define you as a woman? > As a child I was raised by my parents keeping my feet on the ground, with great honesty, always looking for ways to help others and working hard to achieve each of my goals. This is something that fills me immensely and I teach it to my son, Sebastián José, all the time. How not to be another pretty face and transcend? > The aesthetic part is important, I can’t deny it. Not because of what others will say, but because it helps one to feel better and more confident. That’s why I always take care of my body and try to be always well-dressed. But this is only a part, because to transcend in this competitive industry, we must have much more than that. Here you need to have charisma, desires to move forward, maintaining your values and working tirelessly to achieve what is proposed.

What do you think is the message that Latin women should convey to the world?

> Not only the Latin woman, but every woman. We are just the same as men and we can achieve any goal we set. We have to give ourselves the value we deserve and support each other. We should be happy about the triumphs of all of us, and help those who need that little push to get ahead. Your world celebrity face has led you to reinvent yourself. How have you experienced the process of managing yourself among so many facets, such as an actress, host, model and businesswoman? > Something I have learned from so many years of experience in this industry is that we have to reinvent ourselves and try all the things that we are passionate about. I love what I do, from posing in front of a camera, dancing, talking with people and empowering them, even doing business, creating ideas and influencing as many people as I can.

A wonderful 2017 is ending. What are your next steps? > I am extremely happy with something that is coming very soon and will help me reach the homes of hundreds of thousands of people. When you were crowned Miss Universe, you became a celebrity in the blink of an eye. Today, eleven years later, you have survived the onslaught of an industry full of competition and a thorny road to success. What has been the key to success that makes you feel proud of your work? > I never give up or settle for anything. Similarly, I don’t accept the things that make me feel uncomfortable. I live my work and I fully enjoy it, and I struggle every day to become a better professional and a better human being. I would say it is my key. I keep on trying and working for what I dream of and want, because in life you never know if that next attempt is the one that will have the result you want.

Puerto Rico is facing a difficult moment. What is the message for your people looking forward and what is to come? > My island is full of warriors and wonderful people. We have a big heart with which we are always helping and supporting everyone who needs it. That attitude and the love of our beautiful island will help Puerto Rico to once again be the Island of Enchantment. Nobody should question that. It is time for all of us to help each other as brothers and sisters and to contribute as much as we can so that our island returns to normal as soon as possible. We, as Puerto Ricans, no matter where we are, always have our homeland in our hearts.

Hay que “romper el hielo”, pues el casting puede poner muy nervioso aún a actores experimentados, por lo que hay que aminorar este tema al máximo en la medida de lo posible.

Por ejemplo, si en la escena escrita tengo a un personaje que acaba de cometer un asesinato, invento una donde ese personaje se está preparando para hacerlo, o bien podría ser otra donde lo vemos ya saliendo después de haberlo hecho.

ué pasa en las neuronas del creador de los hits musicales? Se requiere ingenio, motivación y un enriquecido bagaje cultural que permita componer desde una canción de cuna hasta el más polémico trap. Mario Cáceres tiene ese talento, y es ampliamente reconocido por veteranos de la industria, incluso firmado por la disquera Sony/ATV. Su travesía inició en 2015 con un par de maletas, un corazón lleno de sueños y una gran inspiración: Dios y su familia. Rumbo a Miami, también empacó humildad, que en su voz se transforma en un ‘voseo’ de su natal Maracaibo, Venezuela, y en la capacidad de mantener los pies sobre la Tierra ante una reverencia del mismísimo Marc Anthony. Conversamos con el creador de los éxitos Felices los 4 de Maluma, Mayores de Becky G, Lágrimas no más de Guaco y otros temas de artistas como Fonseca y Diego Torres que llevan la firma venezolana “con la lírica de Cáceres”.

¿Cuáles fueron los sucesos de tu viaje? > Nacho, que es mi amigo desde que yo tenía un dúo musical con Hernán Portillo, me llamó cuando estaba en Miami, ya pensando en regresar, porque había enviado unos temas a Cristian Castro y dentro de esos iba uno mío, y era el que le había gustado. Me insistió que cambiara mi boleto de regreso, que me quedara en su casa y en eso pasó mes y medio. Como a las dos semanas, aparecí por obra y gracia en la casa de Marc Anthony, porque Chino y Nacho tenían una reunión y me invitó. Tuvimos una tertulia y terminé esa noche cantando por petición de Nacho. Cuando terminé, Marc se paró y me dijo ‘wow, con quién estás tu firmado. Nacho, gracias por este regalo’, me hizo hasta una reverencia, fue un momento mágico. ¿Habías sentido eso antes en tu trayectoria? > Viví cosas muy bonitas en Venezuela. Pero el de Marc tenía un peso especial porque ya yo estaba viviendo fuera del país, en los primeros días que son los más difíciles, en los que no sabes qué va a pasar, y tener a uno de los señores más fuertes de la industria reconociendo tu talento, diciéndote ‘dale, no pares, sigue así’, es increíble.

MAGICAL LYRICS The Venezuelan singer-songwriter lived the saga of the immigrant in Miami when by a stroke of fate, his compositions penetrated the Latin movement that today leads the music charts. Mario Cáceres has that talent, and is widely recognized by industry veterans, including being signed by the Sony / ATV label. His journey began in 2015 with a couple of suitcases, a heart full of dreams and a great inspiration: God and his family. Heading to Miami, he also packed humility, which in his voice transforms into a cry of his native Maracaibo, Venezuela, and in the ability to keep his feet on the ground before a reverence from Marc Anthony himself. What were the incidents of your trip? > Nacho, who is my friend since I had a musical duet with Hernán Portillo, who was his cousin, called me when I was in Miami, already thinking about returning, because he had sent some

songs to Cristian Castro and among those was one of mine and it was the one that he liked. He insisted that I change my return ticket, that I stay at his home and a month and a half went by. About two weeks later I appeared by work and grace at Marc Anthony’s house, because Chino (Jesús Miranda) and Nacho had a meeting and invited me to accompany him. After the work meeting, we had a talk shop and I ended that night singing at the request of Nacho. When I finished, Marc stopped and said ‘wow, who are you signed with? Nacho, thank you for this gift’, he even like took a bow, it was a magical moment. Had you felt that at another time in your career? > I always lived very nice things in Venezuela. But Marc’s had a special weight because I was already living outside the country, during the first days that are the most difficult ones, in which you do not know what is going to happen, and something like this happens to you, having one of the strongest gentlemen in the industry recognizing your talent, telling you ‘continue, don’t stop, keep it up’, it’s amazing.

¿Qué te motiva? > Los mensajes de la gente son una cosa maravillosa. Me pasó con la canción Volver a casa, sentí por primera vez una conexión diferente, igual que con Dónde estés, porque la gente la interpretó a su manera. También mi familia, sin ellos no lograría nada. ¿Cómo calificas tu experiencia dentro de la industria musical? > La palabra que la resume es mágica, porque nunca tuve interés en ser parte de la industria. Mi único interés era tener el título de mi carrera de ingeniería en sonido, fue loquísimo. Pasé de estar llorando en un sofá, pensando que quería volver y estar allá con mi esposa y mis hijos; de embalar cajas, hasta me tocó hacerle un Uber a Ricardo Arjona, a que de pronto te pase algo como eso, es mágico. La verdad me siento agradecido, siento compromiso y deber con Dios y con la vida de hacer cosas para el bien. ¿Qué parte disfrutas más del proceso de componer? > Eso es como preguntar a quién quieres más de tu familia. Hay un pedacito del corazón para cada uno. Así es con el proceso musical, cada parte tiene su magia. Cuando sale algo, a pesar de que lo haga yo, siento que alguien me lo está diciendo: que es Dios. Siempre está ese no sé qué. Después viene el proceso de vestir a la novia, que el vestido entalle en la cintura, escoger los zapatos, los accesorios, que todo combine. Luego sale y pa’ vos es la reina, todos la quieren, todos la escuchan y quieren bailar y gozar con ella; es tuya y es de todo el mundo. ¿Prefieres estar en el escenario o detrás de las canciones? ¿Cómo vives esa dualidad? > Mi sueño definitivo, el centro de todo, es cantar mi propia música. A lo que más quisiera dedicar mis ganas, mi esfuerzo y conocimiento es a ese proyecto de Cáceres como artista. Felices los 4 de Maluma fue muy polémico, ¿cuál fue tu posición respecto a la critica que hubo hacia el tema? > Desde mi percepción, creo que sí hay temas donde se abusa del lenguaje y la manera de decir las cosas. La canción no dice nada vulgar, todo está en la mente de la persona y quien lo interpreta. Siempre me preguntan por qué cuatro, si en el video salen tres y la verdad es que la canción nació de un dicho muy maracucho, muy venezolano,

que dice: amor de lejos, felices los cuatro. Y como Maluma había sacado Cuatro babys, quisimos hacer algo con eso mismo, pero que fuera más inteligente, bonito y cantable. Al final Felices los 4 no es ninguna grosería ni vulgaridad, es una verdad. Es igual en Mayores, es la gente que le da esa connotación. Piensan que el sexo es algo malo, es un tabú y no es así. Cuando te pidieron por primera vez que participaras en la creación de un tema así, ¿cuál fue tu reacción? ¿Cómo te adentraste en el? > Ya lo venía haciendo por mí, como un trabajo. Uno de los primeros temas que escribí en reggaetón es Lagrimas no más de Guaco. Me basé en El perdón de Nicky Jam con Enrique Iglesias y Lagrimas no más nació como una continuación para ese tema. Un día me llamó Gustavo Aguado (Guaco) pidiéndome que le enviara algunos temas, pero no le pasé ese, porque era para Enrique Iglesias. Pero después agarré la guitarra, le envié una grabación de esa canción y a los cinco minutos me llamó diciéndome que ese era el tema y que lo hiciera como yo quisiera. Para mí fue una cosa hermosa.

How do you rate your experience within the music industry? > The word that sums it up is magical, because I never had an interest in being part of the industry. My only interest was to have my sound engineering degree; It was really crazy. I went from crying on a couch, thinking I wanted to go back and be there with my wife and children, packing boxes; I even had to be an Uber for Ricardo Arjona, the fact that something like that happen to you is magical. In all truth I feel grateful; I feel commitment and duty with God and with life to do things for good. Which part do you enjoy most of the composing process? > That’s like asking who you love more of your family. There is a piece of your heart for everyone. That’s how it is with the musical process; each part has its magic. When something comes out, even if I do it, I feel that someone is telling me: that it is God. There is always that I do not know what. Then the process of dressing the bride comes, that the dress fits in the waist, choose the shoes, the accessories, that everything fits. Then she comes out and for you she is the queen, everyone wants her, everyone listens to her and they want to dance and enjoy with her; she’s yours and she’s everyone’s. Do you prefer to be on stage or behind the songs? How do you live that duality? > My ultimate dream, the center of it all, is to sing my own music. What I would most like to dedicate my desire, my effort and knowledge is to that Cáceres as an artist project.

Did you have any other aspiration than music? > Since I was very young I always knew that what I wanted to do was music. Although apart from a musician I had wanted to be the president of Venezuela (laughs), seriously. The only time I doubted about making music was when my father died, who besides being my friend, was a social servant who lived to help others. He taught me that one of the most important missions in life is to serve people. That’s where studying political science entered my mind to honor him, but thank God I reconsidered and realized that music is the best and the most beautiful tool to serve. What motivates you? > People’s messages are a wonderful thing. It happened to me with the song Volver a casa; I felt for the first time a different connection, as with Dónde Estés, because people interpreted it in their own way. Also my family; without them I would not achieve anything.

Felices Los 4 by Maluma was very controversial, what was your position on the criticism towards the issue? > From my perception, I think that there are songs where language and the way of saying things is abused. The song does not say anything vulgar, everything is in the person’s mind and who interprets it. They always ask me why four if there are three in the video and the truth is that the song was born from a very maracucho saying, very Venezuelan, which says: in a long distance relationship, all four will be happy. And as Maluma had released Cuatro babys, we wanted to do something with that, but more intelligent, beautiful and singable. In the end Felices Los 4 is not any rudeness or vulgarity, it is a truth. It’s the same in Mayores, it’s the people who give it that connotation. They think that sex is a bad thing, it’s a taboo and it’s not like that. When you were asked for the first time to participate in creating of such a theme, what was your reaction? How did you get into it? > It had already been writing itself, like a job. One of the first songs that I wrote in reggaeton is Lágrimas no más by Guaco. I based myself on El Perdón by Nicky Jam with Enrique Iglesias and Lágrimas No Más was born as a continuation for that song. One day Gustavo Aguado (Guaco) called me asking me to send him some songs, but I did not pass him that one, because it was for Enrique Iglesias. But after I grabbed the guitar, I sent him a recording of that song and five minutes later he called me telling me that this was the song and to do it as I wished. For me it was a beautiful thing.

¿Tuviste alguna otra aspiración diferente a la música? > Desde chiquitico siempre supe que era la música lo que quería hacer. Aunque aparte de músico hubiese querido ser presidente de Venezuela (ríe), en serio. La única vez que dudé de hacer música fue cuando murió mi papá, quien además de ser mi amigo, era un servidor social que vivía para ayudar a los demás. Me enseñó que una de las misiones más importantes en la vida es servir a la gente. Ahí se me metió en la cabeza estudiar ciencias políticas para honrarlo, pero gracias a Dios recapacité y me di cuenta que la música es la mejor y la más hermosa herramienta para servir.

Desde hace unos años retumban palabras de admiración hacia David Aguilar en la escena de cantautores latinos. En su álbum titulado Siguiente, le canta al amor, a la tristeza, a su abuelo y hasta dedica unas palabras a quienes usan el poder para su propio bienestar. Si eres amante de la música de Jorge Drexler y Natalia Lafourcade, entonces te invito a adentrarte en Desordenada canción la de Aguilar.

El rapero madrileño de 27 años se ha convertido en un referente del trap gracias a su talento y constancia, pero también por su desfachatez y arrogancia. Las letras del álbum Ídolo pueden llegar a ser repetitivas, explícitas y egocéntricas, no obstante el productor, Alizzz, ha sabido leer la tendencia del mercado actual, creando un irresistible coctel de sonidos propios del reggaetón, dancehall, R&B y vaporwave.

Puede que Michael Jackson se encuentre descansando en paz, pero su obra no lo hará jamás. Scream es el tercer álbum póstumo de Jackson y recopila grandes temas bailables, como su dueto con Janet Jackson Scream, Dangerous, Torture y Blood on the dance floor. La selección de canciones es un reflejo del gusto de MJ por el día de Halloween, su fascinación por los disfraces y la oscuridad.

Confieso que procrastiné al escuchar el quinto álbum de la banda de Las Vegas. Aún siguen frescas en mi cabeza las inmortales melodías de Mr. Brightside y Somebody Told Me. No es tarea fácil superar éxitos indiscutibles. Para mí Wonderful wonderful no es un álbum memorable, pero contiene varios sencillos poderosos compuestos a la medida de grandes estadios, como Run For Cover, Life To Come y The Man.

It is not an easy task to overcome indisputable successes. For me, Wonderful wonderful is not a memorable album, but it includes several powerful singles written to fit large stadiums, such as Run For Cover, Life To Come and The Man.

Concentra toda su experiencia como actor en cine, televisión y frente a un público para mostrarse completamente diferente en cualquiera de los actos que su vida artística le depare. Alexander Da Silva hace personal cada libreto, se enamora, pero siempre con el norte bien claro: “La historia en conjunto debe funcionar. Esta es la filosofía que maneja Nacho Redondo, comediante de stand up y el escritor detrás de los chistes de gente como Érika De La Vega, Luis Chataing y Led Varela. Después de haber redactado con irreverencia para otros y trabajar en estaciones de radio venezolanas como La Mega, se dio cuenta que dejar fluir su creatividad frente a un público es lo que le apasiona y lo que quiere seguir haciendo por mucho tiempo más. Para eso considera necesario escribir y por eso compara ese arte con un gimnasio para fisicoculturistas. “Es terapéutico, es la forma en que mi cerebro expulsa todo lo malo”, describe Nacho sobre lo que define como “la maldición de los comediantes”, la capacidad de ver más allá de todo, de identificar lo políticamente incorrecto más rápido. Luego de partir de Venezuela –su país natal– para mudarse a Aruba, descubrió en la fotografía un trabajo increíble, algo que podría hacer por el resto de su vida. “Todo inició a raíz de una vez en la que un amigo me hizo una foto. Dije que yo también quería hacerlo y allí empezó este recorrido”, cuenta con un toque de gracia al momento de recordar sus inicios. Since then he has done nothing but growing, going from being a photography assistant to one of the most renowned photographers in Aruba. Así lo ve Monrick Croes, quien luego de muchos viajes y una educación al paladar, decidió dedicarse a la industria vinera enteramente. Tras siete años de estudio para ser chef, además de la formación en hotelería y servicio, descubrió en la labor del sommelier un entusiasmo que le llenaba completamente: “Cuando estudié cocina me involucré en la francesa. Within the roller coaster in which he describes his career, Andrés is living his childhood dream. Full of joy and optimism, with these traits she has made her name in the world of performing, beginning her career at the age of five. Even that overwhelming personality is what she seeks to capture in every role she plays. In the search for constant expression, Micaela embraced performing arts in an absolute manner, being an actress, singer and dancer; besides knowing how to reinvent herself on television cameras and at the theater. Within a Buddhist philosophy, she uses acting as her resource to “inspire whoever is next to her”. Boundlessly living in the here and now, she takes advantage of every opportunity offered, so that currently she is also developing her musical career.

Being his father, also a journalist, a direct influence on the path he decided to travel, Yépez currently combines the social responsibility inherited from journalism with the creative capacity that implies being an actor. Fefi Oliveira lo tiene claro: quiere ser la primera maracucha en llevarle un Oscar a la Virgen de la Chinita en la Basílica de su natal Maracaibo, en Venezuela. As an unstoppable train that goes at full speed, Willy Martin describes the sensation caused by having a new script in his hands. The characters speak to him as he reads them, and so on until his voice, gestures and way of walking cease to be his and he gives them over completely, reinventing the depiction of his roles. After being featured on Venezuelan TV with Sabor a ti, El gato tuerto and Mundo de sueños, his face has become familiar with youth productions such as Isa T.K.M. His career has been marked successfully by the new challenges, which he assumes both in children’s productions, theater and television, and in writing, hosting and production.

Fefi Oliveira is sure: she wants to be the first Maracaibo native person to bring an Oscar to the Virgin of the Chinita in the Basílica of her birth city Maracaibo, Venezuela. Beyond her beauty and charisma, she can feel her heart beating and anxiety about her first time on a set, each time she steps on a new one. In this way, she seeks to experience the same emotions and achieve transcendence. But her inspiration goes hand in hand with acting challenges. Su vena artística la condujo a hacer su vida profesional lejos de casa, pero con sus convicciones bien definidas. Su mentalidad se maneja intensamente entre la actuación y la escritura, siempre al máximo. Y es que su pasión va más allá de los libretos, por eso recientemente bautizó un compendio de cuentos ficticios cargados de adicción, amor y erotismo en Pasiones eróticas, su primer libro. Ahora escribe lo que será el segundo y comienza a filmar su nueva serie. “Digamos que me gusta soñar, al final, el universo se encargará de colocarte en el sitio que debes estar”.

Cataloga la imaginación como una de las cosas más gratificantes y valiosas que el ser humano puede tener, motivo por el que la utiliza a su favor para pensar como un individuo diferente al momento de actuar. Además, necesaria en su faceta como DJ, indispensable para sus mezclas. Describe su trayectoria como una aventura en la que su familia es su mayor motivación y sus experiencias personales la musa al momento de participar en algún proyecto. Perseverante y luchador, sin duda el compromiso que asume al interpretar personajes es tangible.

La actuación significa una parte de su inquietud creativa, por lo que en esta faceta se enfoca en sentir, desprenderse de sí mismo para encarnar los personajes. Beyond staying in a proper performance style, Nicolás Szantos opts to reinvent himself with each role he chooses, which is a key factor when deciding to play a role. He brings his touch at the moment of acting, giving his characters “the power of seduction”. He considers acting training important, which is why he never rests, since it is his best way to achieve a genuine connection with the public. Open to new projects, he is not afraid of challenges, while he seeks to get to Hollywood, his goal.

Her artistic vein led her to make her professional life far from home, but with her convictions well defined. Her mentality is always handled intensely between acting and writing to the maximum. Her passion goes beyond the scripts, so she recently published a compendium of fictional stories full of addiction, love and eroticism in her first book, Pasiones Eróticas (Erotic Passions). Now she writes the second book and starts filming her new series. “Let’s say that I like dreaming; in the end, the universe will place you where you should be.”

He regards imagination as one of the most rewarding and valuable things that any human being can have, which is why he uses it to his advantage to think like a different individual when acting. Also, it is necessary in his role as a DJ, and indispensable for his mixes. He describes his career as an adventure in which his family is his greatest motivation and his personal experiences are his muse when participating in a project. Persistent and fighter, his commitment to portray characters is certainly tangible.

Acting means a part of his creative restlessness, so in this facet he focuses on feeling, detaching himself to portray a character. By feeling, he can live his roles and that is the feature he seeks to give each character: the truth. With a “funny and risky” career, he has been honored as the best male revelation at the 2016 TVyNovelas Awards, as well as Best Actor at the 2016 BlackBird Film Festival held in New York. Living new experiences is his muse. In that way he constantly reinvents himself.

Listening to the call to be himself was the key that freed his artistic vocation, the same one that he explored when he was nine years old playing the piano and singing, which led him to his training as a comprehensive artist. The musical comedy was his first step, to then take part in the theater and finally in television, with leading roles like Luca in Sueña conmigo and Roberto in Sangre de mi tierra, of whom he confesses ‘made him shiver’. The also graduated as a lawyer from the University of Buenos Aires believes in acting and says that nothing is reserved, that he acts with his heart.

Su visión de gerencia, criterio en negociación y contrataciones lo han llevado a ser uno de los managers más incisivos y talentosos de la industria del entretenimiento en la actualidad. Luis Luyando es un auténtico creador de estrellas que recibe a los artistas con un sueño y los conduce a alcanzarlo. Luego de su paso por la pantalla chica venezolana como gerente y vicepresidente del extinto canal musical Puma TV, su vocación de servir como medio para catapultar a la fama e internacionalización a figuras emergentes lo llevó a radicarse en Miami, dando el salto al manejar la carrera de la actriz Génesis Rodríguez. Desde entonces, no ha parado. ¿Qué hay de las consecuencias que acarrea el hecho de no tener acceso a la justicia? > Sin acceso a justicia no hay un desarrollo económico sostenible e inclusivo, no es posible. Lo puedes ver a nivel de la familia, cuando los individuos tienen que recurrir al sistema judicial para un caso que podría haberse prevenido o resuelto por medios alternativos, no jurisdiccionales. Cuando tienen que acudir a un juzgado y terminar un juicio, hemos visto que en Centroamérica tardan más de dos años en promedio y tienen un costo para la víctima de un equivalente a ocho meses de ingreso familiar, es decir, de la familia completa. La pregunta es qué hicieron esos ocho meses, cómo hicieron. La respuesta es que se endeudaron o vendieron activos, y los activos de la gente más humilde, generalmente es lo que más necesitan.

“SIN ACCESO A LA JUSTICIA NO HAY DESARROLLO ECONÓMICO” El coordinador del Programa Interamericano de Facilitadores Judiciales de la OEA nos comenta cómo se ha desarrollado esta iniciativa, que busca prevenir casos delictivos mediante asesoría gratuita a las familias que se ven afectadas en procedimientos con las autoridades. a conflictividad en el acceso a la justicia para los sectores más vulnerables de la población latinoamericana y centroamericana, es una realidad que agobia nuestra sociedad. El desconocimiento de las leyes y la ausencia de una guía con respecto a cómo actuar y qué hacer cuando es necesario involucrarse en un procedimiento legal, que implique la visita a tribunales o relación con las autoridades penales, son las principales causas que hacen de esta una problemática común. Bajo esta inquietud avasallante, la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) lanza el Programa Interamericano de Facilitadores Judiciales, una iniciativa que busca brindar una puerta que permita a los afectados de Panamá, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Paraguay y Argentina ejercer sus derechos apropiadamente, con una meta fundamental: prevenir que se desarrollen y multipliquen los casos. En Ciudad de Panamá, conversamos con Pedro Vuskovic, coordinador del programa y representante de la Secretaría General de la OEA en ese país.

¿Cómo se gestiona y materializa el programa? > Actualmente hay más de 13 mil facilitadores. 41% de ellos son mujeres. Básicamente, son líderes voluntarios de un liderazgo de servicio y quiero remarcar esto, porque hay muchos tipos de liderazgo. Son personas que están apoyando a las necesidades que tienen sus vecinos, las personas cercanas a ellos. Por eso se mueven estrictamente en el ámbito de su propia comunidad, barrio o aldea. Son voluntarios porque no cobran absolutamente nada, no son empleados del Estado ni tampoco reciben nada de las partes a las cuales ellos apoyan. Para apoyar un vecino, no necesitan ingresos. Las funciones no son jurisdiccionales, es decir, no emiten fallos, lo que hacen es informar a la gente sobre sus derechos, sobre las leyes, las normas jurídicas y de conducta. Su propia práctica personal, su vida personal se convierte en un efecto demostrativo sobre su comunidad y cómo comportarse, cumplir ciertas normas de convivencia y respetar las leyes del país. Entonces usted logra a través de un buen consejo una mediación y así no van a juicio. También tiene una función preventiva en el sentido de resolver alternativamente un conflicto.

Entre los casos que han tratado, ¿cuáles son los delitos más comunes? > La impunidad genera esas situaciones. Es como querer curar una enfermedad curando los síntomas. Usted puede abrir más cárceles, pero habrá más gente detenida y más presos. De hecho, en América Latina muchas cárceles están duplicadas en cuanto a la población que estaba prevista en ellas. Pero eso no resuelve el problema, gran parte tiene que ver con la falta de solución a los problemas jurídicos que tiene la población, porque muchos de los casos, incluyendo los de la violencia más extrema, como los homicidios, están asociados no solo a los grandes elementos del crimen organizado o del tráfico de drogas, sino que están muchas veces ligados a los problemas interpersonales. ¿Cómo valora los principales beneficios que arroja la labor de los facilitadores? > A nivel sectorial, introducir un sistema de prevención y resolución alterna a los medios jurisdiccionales para resolver los conflictos, le genera un ahorro al sistema de justicia, lo hace más eficiente, porque con los mismos recursos hacen más. Se trata de que les lleguen menos casos y que logren cubrir muchas más personas. A nivel nacional, se requiere un entorno de baja conflictividad social para que los negocios puedan prosperar.

¿Cuáles considera que son las principales causas que generan las barreras de estos pueblos en cuanto al acceso a la justicia? > Partimos de que no son los aislamientos geográficos de dónde están las autoridades de la justicia, sino por razones económicas, de género, de etnias, idiomas u otras barreras completamente diferentes. Entonces, así estamos en una situación complicada, porque estas personas no tienen acceso al ejercicio de sus derechos. La falta de acceso a justicia puede generar muchos efectos negativos, uno en términos del ejercicio de los derechos humanos, pero también genera un problema de gobernabilidad en el sentido de que está asociada a una falta de credibilidad, particularmente del sistema judicial. Cuando la población no confía en el sistema judicial, no está confiando en una institución básica de nuestra democracia.

“WITHOUT ACCESS TO JUSTICE THERE CAN BE NO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT” The coordinator of the OAS InterAmerican Judicial Facilitators Program shares with us how this initiative has been developed, which seeks to prevent criminal cases by providing free advice to families that are affected in proceedings with the authorities.

How is this OAS program managed and materialized? > Currently there are more than 13,000 facilitators. 41% of them are women. Basically, they are volunteer leaders of service leadership and I want to highlight this, because there are many types of leadership. They are people who are supporting the needs of their neighbors, the people close to them. That is why they move strictly within the scope of their own community, neighborhood or village. They are volunteers because they are not paid, they are not State employees nor do they receive anything from the parties to whom they support. To support a neighbor, they do not need income. The functions are not jurisdictional, that is, rulings are not issued; what they do is to inform people about their rights, about the laws, the legal and behavioral regulations, their own personal practice; their personal life becomes a demonstrative effect on their community and behavior, complying with certain rules of coexistence and respecting the laws of the country. Then you get through a good council mediation and so you do not go to trial. It also has a preventive function in the sense of resolving a conflict alternatively.

What about the consequences of not having access to justice? > Without access to justice there can be no sustainable and inclusive economic development, it cannot be possible. You can see it at the family level, when individuals have to seek the judicial system for a case that could have been prevented or solved by alternative, non-jurisdictional means. When they have to go to a court and end a trial, we have seen that in Central America they take more than two years on average and it has a cost for the victim that equals eight months of family income, that is, of the entire family. The question is what has been done for those eight months, how was it done. The answer is that they went into debt or sold assets, and the assets of the poorest people are usually what they need the most. What do you think is the main cause of the barriers of these peoples in terms of access to justice? > We are based on the fact that it is not the geographic isolation from where the authorities of justice are located, but rather economic, gender, ethnic, language or other barriers that causes that lack of access to justice. And if they do not have it, we are in a complicated situation, because they do not have access to the exercise of their rights. The lack of access to justice can lead to many negative effects, one in terms of the exercise of human rights, but it also causes a governance problem in the sense that it is associated with a lack of

credibility, particularly of the judicial system. When the population does not trust in the judicial system, it is not trusting in a basic institution of our democracy. Among the cases that have been dealt with, what are the most common crimes? > Impunity causes this situation. It’s like intending to cure a disease by healing the symptoms. You can found more prisons, but there will be more people arrested and more prisoners. In fact, in Latin America many prisons are duplicated in terms of the population that was planned in them. But it is not the solution to the problem, much of it has to do with the lack of solution to the legal problems of the population, because many of the cases, including those of the most extreme violence, such as homicides, are associated not only with the large elements of organized crime or drug trafficking, but are often linked to interpersonal problems. How do you assess the main benefits of the work of the facilitators? > At the sectoral level, introducing a system of prevention and alternative resolution to jurisdictional means to resolve conflicts brings savings for the justice system, or in other words, makes it more efficient, because with the same resources they do more. It is about getting fewer cases and that they can cover many more people. Nationally, an environment of low social conflict is required so that businesses can prosper.

The conflict in the access to justice for the most vulnerable sectors of the Latin American and Central American population is a reality that burdens our society. The ignorance of the laws and the absence of a guide concerning how to act and what to do when it is necessary to be involved in a legal proceeding, implying the appearance in courts or relationship with the criminal authorities, are the main causes that make this a common problem. Under this overwhelming concern, the Organization of American States (OAS) launches the Inter-American Judicial Facilitators Program, an initiative that seeks to provide a gateway for those affected in Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Paraguay and Argentina to exercise their rights appropriately, with one fundamental goal: to prevent cases from developing and multiplying. In Panama City, we interviewed Pedro Vuskovic, coordinator of the program and representative of the General Secretariat of the OAS to that country.

enicio del Toro pertenece a la estirpe de actores del Hollywood clásico —Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson— que no usan dos palabras si pueden decir lo mismo con una. Pero Del Toro llevó el ejercicio del silencio actoral mucho más allá. Es de los actores que no usan ni una sola palabra, si pueden decir mucho más con su mirada. Una mirada de Del Toro vale más que mil palabras: ojos verdes subrayados por dos profundas ojeras que al callar lo dicen todo. Acerca de ese expresivo silencio, la actriz Emily Blunt, su compañera en Sicario, comentó a la revista MovieMaker: “Benicio tiene una mística personal. Él no revela mucho así que te deja siempre adivinando, con dudas. No solamente en la pantalla, sino también al trabajar. De alguna manera, les da forma a las escenas al actuarlas. Ambos trabajamos de forma similar, en el sentido de que disfrutamos al no revelar demasiado”. En el mismo reportaje, Del Toro explica someramente esa mística al actuar: “Todos tenemos nuestros pasados, solo que no vamos por la vida explicándoselos a todo el mundo”. En su caso, su pasado actoral está signado por los estereotipos que Hollywood le reserva a los no anglosajones. Comenzó interpretando personajes relacionados con el tráfico de drogas en series de televisión como Miami Vice. Avanzó en su carrera interpretando papeles parecidos a éste, hasta que se consagró. De modo pues que supo sacarle provecho a las caracterizaciones estereotipadas a las que parecía estar condenado por la misma industria cinematográfica. El rol que le dio a conocer fue Fred Fenster, un carismático gánster en The Usual Suspects. Mas, sería el estrafalario Dr. Gonzo, de Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, el que le pondría en el camino del estrellato y le daría la fama de actor serio. Para interpretarlo, se echó encima casi 20 kilos. Su siguiente trabajo le llevaría de vuelta al territorio del narco, aunque esta vez como policía incorruptible. Su papel en Traffic le daría su primer premio Oscar, como actor secundario. Se convertía así en el tercer latinoamericano en conseguirlo, después de José Ferrer y Rita Moreno. Si para interpretar al Dr. Gonzo engordó casi 20 kilos, para el personaje que le consagraría definitivamente, rebajó alrededor de 15. Considerada como una de las más perfectas reencarnaciones del guerrillero latinoamericano, su trabajo en Ché le valdría su primera Palma de Oro en Cannes como actor. El tan anhelado Oscar se le escapó. Ni siquiera fue nominado. Steven Soderbergh, director de la cinta, se lo temía. En una entrevista, manifestó su poco optimismo sobre el premio: “Sería fantástico, y una señal de que yo también he hecho bien mi trabajo, pero los Oscar son imprevisibles y tan famosos por sus premios como por sus olvidos injustificables. Además, el trabajo de Benicio no es el típico que premian en la Academia: es muy realista, muy contenido. No vende al Ché: él es el Ché.” Pero poco importa. Hoy, cuando cumple medio siglo de existencia, su filmografía está llena de pequeñas gemas cinematográficas y grandes interpretaciones, de 21 Gramos a Escobar. No obstante, acaso es su rol en Sicario el más cercano a su mística actoral, perceptible y palpable al simple contacto visual, en la que una sola mirada en silencio dice lo que todas las líneas de diálogo no pueden decir.

Benicio Del Toro belongs to the lineage of classic Hollywood actors Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson - who do not use two words if they can say the same thing with one. But Del Toro took the exercise of acting silence much further. He is one of the actors who do not use a single word if they can say much more with their eyes. A look by Del Toro is worth more than a thousand words: green eyes underlined by two dark circles that say everything through silence. Concerning that expressive silence, actress Emily Blunt, her partner in Sicario, told MovieMaker magazine: “Benicio has a mystique about him. He doesn’t really give much away, so you’re always left guessing – not just on screen, but also working with him. There’s something shape-shifting about the way he plays a scene. He and I work quite similarly in that we enjoy not spelling things out.” In the same article, Del Toro briefly explains that mystique feature when acting: “We all have pasts, but we don’t go around explaining them to everybody.” In his case, his acting past is marked by the stereotypes that Hollywood reserves for non-Anglo-Saxon actors. He emerged playing drug war roles on television series such as Miami Vice. He advanced his career playing similar roles, until he gained mainstream public attention. So he knew how to exploit stereotyped characters that he seemed to be condemned to by the very film industry. His performance as Fred Fenster in The usual suspects made his name. But his role as Dr. Gonzo in Fear and loathing in Las Vegas was the key to stardom and made him earn the reputation of a credible actor. He gained 40 pounds for this role. His next job would take him back to the narco territory, this time as an incorruptible police. His role in Traffic awarded him his first Oscar as a supporting actor. He thus became the third Latin American actor to win it, after José Ferrer and Rita Moreno. If Del Toro gained 40 pounds to portray Dr. Gonzo, the character that would definitely cemented him as one of Hollywood’s best actors, he lost around 35 pounds. Regarded as one of the most perfect depictions of the Latin American guerrilla, his performance in Che made him take home his first Golden Palm in Cannes as best actor. In an interview with Fotogramas, he described his memories of the award: “When the panel appeared, I recognized people from home, such as Sean Penn, Alfonso Cuarón and Natalie Portman. Then I was named and suddenly everything became an acid trip. I emember the smile of Catherine Deneuve.” The much-longed-for Oscar escaped from him. He was not even nominated. Steven Soderbergh, director of the film, feared it. In an interview, he expressed his little optimism about the prize: “It would be fantastic, and a sign that I have done a good job, but the Oscars are unpredictable and as famous for their awards as for their unjustifiable forgetfulness. Benicio’s work is not the typical winner at the Academy: it is very realistic, very contained. He does not sell Che: he is Che. “ But it does not matter. Today, when he is turning 50 years old, his filmography is full of small cinematographic gems and mastering depictions, ranging from 21 Grams to Escobar. However, perhaps his role in Sicario is the closest to his acting mystique, perceptible and palpable at simple visual contact, in which a single silent look says what all lines of dialogue cannot say.

Cut the garlic and onion and then fry them in olive oil. Add the lobster and shrimp. Any other seafood can also be included. Add the annatto oil and the coconut milk. Simmer all the ingredients for about five minutes and then add the herbs. Finally, add salt and pepper to taste. How to prepare annatto oil: Heat corn oil and annatto seeds - used for flavoring and coloring many dishes - in the oven until achieving the desired color. Keep refrigerated for later use.
