One of Italy’s foremost wine families, the Folonaris are originally from the North of Italy. In the early 20th century they bought Chianti Ruffino in Tuscany and grew it to become one of the world icons for Chianti Classico. In 2000, the family split, and Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute (Estates) was founded by father Ambrogio and son Giovanni, Chairman and Managing Director respectively. The company’s mission is to produce high quality wines from Tuscany. Its estates include two properties in Chianti Classico (Nozzole and Cabreo, the latter producing only Igt), with the other properties in Montalcino (La Fuga), Montepulciano (Torcalvano Gracciano), Bolgheri (Campo al Mare) and Montecucco (Vigne a Porrona).
Tenuta di Nozzole is the company’s headquarter.
Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari strongly believe that each wine must have a distinct personality and reflect the ‘terroir’ and climate from which it originates, allowing consumers to enjoy wines that are truly unique.
