SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. SWOT analysis helps companies and organisations develop new strategies by taking in consideration all aspects of the change and it has been introduced as a tool by professors George Albert Smith Jr and Kenneth Andrews in the 1950s (Friesner 2011). Figure 2 below illustrates a SWOT analysis matrix of Gucci.
