Digital Publishing Suite Services Introduction & Description Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, as well as DPS for short, is a set of tools and services for producing and distributing content for mobile devices for example the iPad. With production centered around Adobe InDesign, it was launched really, around the same time that Apple introduced the iPad. Publications and content produced with DPS can now be viewed on Android and Windows 8. 1 devices also. Who's using DPS, and how are they using it? Effectively, it would take me way too long to list each of the work being published with DPS, but here are just a number of examples. Sports Illustrated, Reader's Digest, Wired, People and National Geographic. To secure a look at the very best, and perhaps get some inspiration to your own projects, you can visit Adobe's DPS gallery at dpsgallery.adobe.com.

One Edition vs. multifolio apps There are two types of digital camera publishing suite apps. The single edition, and multi‐folio. Let's examine the differences. First we'll look at single edition. This is often a self contained app, much like a hardcover book. Everything is contained without hassle. There is just no way to change the content, help to increase it, or subtract from it. These apps are iPad merely. They do not permit in‐app purchases. And you can't get subscriptions. For Creative Cloud members, there's an unlimited number of single edition apps that could be created. If you don't have Creative Cloud membership, you should purchase them individually. Let's look at multi‐ folio now. Multi‐folio apps can contain an unlimited amount of folios. Where as the single edition is like a hardcover e‐book, a multi‐folio app is sort of like a ring binder which you could take things out, put things in, and just keep preparing it. They are available on multiple platforms and devices, so that you can publish to Android or to Windows, as well as iOS. That they do permit in‐app purchases and subscriptions, but they do have to have a subscription to professional or enterprise services through Adobe. Now, while it's important understand whether your folio will be a self‐contained, single edition app or part of a multi‐folio software, for the purposes of this course, everything you'll learn might be applied to either type of project.
