SISP Roles, Responsibilities & Remuneration 

The role of the SISP is to make appointments to the Terrain NRM Board for the positions of Chairperson and/or Director/s whenever a vacancy occurs. The primary objective of the SISP is to ensure the Board is skills-based and capable of overseeing the strategic development and implementation of community-driven natural resource management in the Wet Tropics NRM region. The SISP determines the recruitment process for Directors and/or the Chairperson and manages the short-listing, interviewing and selection process. Chair, yearly honorarium of $500 and fee of $100 per meeting. Other Representatives, yearly honorarium of $400 and fee of $100 per meeting. SISP representatives will receive mileage reimbursement for using their private vehicles

Election of SISP Representatives 

Terrain members nominate individuals to be considered for election by all members using the attached nomination form. Once completed, return to Terrain to PO Box 1756, Innisfail Qld 4860 or email colleen.mcintosh@terrain.org.au The nomination should also include a resume and address the selection criteria (max 3 pages). Please note that application material supplied will be circulated to the Terrain Membership.

 

All nominations are to be received by 21 October 2016 for consideration at the AGM held on 25 November 2016. This ensures that candidate information is provided to all members prior to the AGM. An appointment will be carried by the majority of Members votes at a General Meeting to be held on Friday 25 November 2016. Members unable to attend that meeting can exercise their right to vote for the SISP member via a postal vote. Members will be notified of the successful representative. Once appointed, a member of the SISP shall continue to hold office until the fourth AGM following that person’s appointment. SISP members are eligible for re-appointment.

SISP Industry Representative – Selection Criteriea In accordance with the Company’s Constitution, the SISP Industry Representative requirements are as follows:  A person who is a resident of or has their principal business located in the Wet Tropics region;  Demonstrated performance in the delivery of improved NRM outcomes as an owner or professional in a field such as horticulture, grazing, dairying, cane growing, fishing, tourism, water and forest management, aquaculture, mining or extractive industries; or providing processing services to sugar milling, dairy, meat and other food processing industries; or providing services relating to energy supply, fuel distribution, chemical and fertiliser retailing or transport;  Demonstrated knowledge of business, and of the particular aspects relating to the use of, or impact of business on the natural resource;  Well known and regarded within business circles;  Highly developed skills in strategic management, marketing/brokering/joint ventures, natural sciences and/or financial management; and  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal traditional owners as well as rural and urban communities.
