What motivated you to become a Strategist and Leadership Coach? I have always loved creating solutions! I see life from a success point of view—how can I—rather than why I cannot! For years, I knew that I did not want to be an attorn e y f o r e v e r, b u t i t t o o k m e a w h i l e t o f i g u r e out that next step. I loved the creative asp e c t s o f m y j o b . A s a n a t t o r n e y, m y r o l e w a s to help my clients to develop strategies to bring an idea to life! I always loved that! I also have always loved helping people to be their best. I truly believe that my purpose is to inspire excellence in others. In 2009, I wanted to create more leaders—women and minorities in particular—for my former organization, so I created a leadership program. T h a t ’s w h e n I t r u l y fo u n d m y p a s s i o n fo r leadership development and I have been doing that ever since!

woman who leads! Every woman deserves to be fabulous! Every woman deserves to achieve her goals and to create value in the marketplace as a respected leader! I help my clients cultivate their inner leader through oneon-one coaching and online coaching programs that bring leadership development to their fingertips! What is meant by “You must see your fabulous, to be your fabulous”? Extraordinary leadership begins with a vision! Our beliefs drive our actions. If we cannot envision ourselves as great leaders—great influencers—we cannot achieve that in our actions. A tenet of my coaching is mindset conditioning—helping my clients to see their careers and lives from a success point of view! 6
You say being fabulous is a “state of mind”, can you explain? Being fabulous is believing that you are extraordinary. It is a fundamental belief system that you can achieve your career goals. It’s not simply “believe it and you can achieve it,” but a system for creating the life you desire … and deserve. Every belief creates an action. Every action creates a future. So being fabulous is being deliberate about the future you create. My personal and professional philosophy is: “Your life is the product of your choices. Choose to be fabulous!” What does a brand entail? A brand is who people see when they think of you. Everybody has an image and every
body has a brand. Our actions, behaviors, and accomplishments establish a brand for us. It is important that we actively develop that brand to be sure that who people see is who we want them to see—in an authentic way. Over time, our interactions with others and how we show up creates our brand. That is why I work with my clients to be conscious about their brand management. What is the difference between a personal brand and a professional brand? Being deliberate about your brand means to be conscious of your values, actions, and behaviors and being aware of how you influence others. This requires you to know what your values are. I remember how powerful it was to really be able to articulate the 5 values

that really drive my decision-making! This helped me to hold myself accountable for what I said I believed. This also helped me to be responsible for my choices. As a coach, I cannot execute my clients’ plans for them. They must actually do that. But I do help them to build systems to bring their values into their actions and create power in their choices! How important is it to have a clear plan to create our brand? It is essential! If you don’t have a plan, you lose the power of your choices! You lose potency and direction. Having a
clear brand helps you to create the vision that forms the foundations of your actions. Inaction is a choice as well. What does it mean in your view, to be a boss? That is a great question! There are many self-proclaimed “bosses” who are really not Bosses, but just bossy! Being bossy is using your influence to create change through domination. People respond because they fear you or out of obligation. They don’t really believe in you, so as soon as you leave they stop doing what you “told” them to do. A boss is

is a great leader! I believe more people should lead like a B.O.S.S. by using your influence to bring out the best in others. Boldly Own the Source of your Success—Your Best! When you are your best, you can exert your influence in a way that has positive influence on those around you. Your best is being a leader—Boldly Owning the Source of your Success—to influence others by connecting to others in a way where they want to do what you want them to do and they are doing it because they believe in you! They believe in the project or organization. Your actions, behavior and attitude inspires them to be their best! 8
Tell us about Making Boss Moves 101. Thinking you are a boss and being a boss are two different things! Make Boss moves boils down to three things: 1. Have a clear distinct specific vision of what outcome you want to have. 2. Have a clear plan about what actions you need to take to do it and the behaviors and actions that you need to cease. 3. Make the move. Do what you said you are going to do! Many people get stuck in the gap between the plan and the execution!
As a coach, I provide structure and accountability that helps my clients to bridge that gap. Can you explain the Art of Getting M. A. D.? The Art of Getting M.A.D. is channeling that anger, frustration, and disappointment to being a part of the change. Given the challenges facing our country right now, more leaders need to get M.A.D.—Motivated And Determined—and use their voices to affect change. Many times when we are frustrated with our careers, we withdraw and give up or we get mad and quit. Sometimes we

need to get M.A.D. and create our own opportunities! What is a S.W.O.T. Analysis? This is an exercise that many companies use in strategic planning. I love using this to learn how I can improve a situation or help my clients to develop a strategy for their career. This is really an exercise of awareness. You cannot change what you do not know—or will not acknowledge. I work with my clients to identify their S.W.O.T.— strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats—to learn where the opportunities lie. Even a weakness is an opportunity—it is an opportunity for improvement or an opportunity to partner with someone who is strong where you are not.
Tell me about finding J. O. Y. on the J.O.B.?
They can go to bit.ly/fabcareer to begin their career transformation!
Our jobs should bring us joy! We can accomplish that in three major ways: We can appreciate the job as a source of income and make the best of it while we are there. We can find a career that truly allows us to live our purpose so that not only are we providing for our needs, but we are fulfilling our destiny through our skills and talents. Finally, we can decide to be our own boss and pursue entrepreneurship. Regardless of where you are in this spectrum, ultimately you must find joy in what you do. Why not be joyful while you are doing that? This is what I help my clients to do!
What is “Finding the Fabulous in You” all about?
Can you tell us about your Leadership Program? I have a full spectrum of leadership development opportunities. My signature program is a 9-Step system that helps aspiring, emerging, and established leaders to create a framework for a successful career. I created this system to help my clients increase their confidence, identify their purpose, be clear on what they want and have an action plan to get them there! I offer one-onone customized coaching that can be done in person and virtually. I am excited that this year I have debuted an online version of this program that targets busy women who need flexibility and convenience! They literally get the benefit of a leadership coach at their fingertips.
Finding the Fabulous in You! is my fourth book. I wrote it in 2014 using lessons learned from my journey to fabulous. My goal was to empower women to have the courage to live the life they deserve. The book is based on the foundation of my coaching program, Fabulous University. My book can be purchased at www.stephaniebarnestaylor.com! Tell me a little about your eBook “20 Beautiful Women Volume 3”. This was an exciting project with 19 other awesome women. Publisher, Sabe Tekle, brought together women from around the world to share their powerful stories in a forum that helps other women to find their voices. This is the third volume of a movement to find beauty in the challenges that women face. Each volume is a compilation of stories from women who have shared the beauty of their struggles, challenges, and victories! I wrote Chapter 10, Embracing the Power of Choice. This book is also available in hard copy and electronic form on: www.stephaniebarnestaylor.com Stephanie Barnes Taylor can be reached at: Stephanie@Fabulousuniversity.me. or call (855) 7-FABYOU.
