I Never Thought I’d Be Back in a Size 8! ‘’You look like you have loss weight’’ She told me that she wanted to loose a few pounds for her wedding dress. Then she revealed to me her weight loss secret Visalus(Body by Vi).

After getting SO many compliments on my weight loss, I realized that it would make sense for me to become a distributor of this amazing weight loss product myself. So, that’s what I did. This particular weight loss regimen is the simplest ever. All you do is to add the contents of one of the packets to almond/ rice milk, low fat or skim milk or juice and perhaps ice so that you can blend it into a smoothie for a really delicious drink. I have even added it to my coffee and it tasted great!

After seeing her weight loss success I decided that I wanted to try it too. After about a month I was surprisingly a size smaller in my clothes. My customers at Silver Gallery in Jackson started commenting on my weight loss. If you would like to try this amazing weight loss product you can Recently I tried on a pair of jeans come by my store, Silver Gallery in a local department store. on Ridgewood Ct Drive or give me a call at 601.952.0525. See To my surprise and delight, the ya soon! jeans were a size 8!

interview with maggie Wade-dixon Award Winning News Anchor, Maggie Wade-Dixon Grants an Interview with Jackson Expose’. Jackson Expose’: Where did you grow up and where did you go to school? Maggie: I grew up in Crystal Springs, MS. Our home is actually between Terry, Raymond, Utica and Crystal Springs. We are in Hinds County, but our mailing address is Crystal Springs. I am the oldest of seven children. Jackson Expose’: Where did you attend college and what was your major? Maggie: I attended Jackson State University my freshman year, but transferred my sophomore year to Mississippi College in Clinton hoping to get a law degree. My major was Marketing at MC. Accounting at Jackson State. Jackson Expose’: I remember when you first started out on television. I recall thinking that you were the most beautiful weather girl I had ever seen! How long were you a weather girl?

Maggie: Wow! Thank you so much for the compliment. I was hired to do weather my senior year at Mississippi College. I actually trained with the meteorologists at the National Weather Service. I started out doing weekend weather and six months later, I was promoted to doing weather at 10 p.m. I did weather for almost two years and then I was moved into weekend anchoring and then weeknights at ten. I think I’ve worked every shift here. Jackson Expose’ : What other positions did you hold prior to becoming a news anchor and when did you become a news anchor for WLBT? Maggie: Because weather was not a full time position I was also an assistant to the Personnel Director and Assistant Producer of Children’s Programming, which meant I helped arrange the tapings for Our Playmates, and I was the hands on Miss Clock! I began anchor duties in 1983 or 1984.

[Continued from Page 7]

Jackson Expose: Was it your dream to be on television when you were growing up? Maggie: It was not my dream to be on television! I actually wanted to be a corporate attorney. I ended up working for the school radio station at MC. I then worked at WJDX and MISS 103 as a marketing researcher/radio announcer and anchored weekend newscasts. The rest is history.

Jackson Expose’: What are some of your most memorable news stories since you have been telling the news? Maggie: There are so many stories that have touched my heart. I will never forget going to Tunica County, which at the time was the poorest county in the nation. I talked with mothers who used cotton and rags to stuff holes in the walls of their homes. Governor Bill Allain and my cousin, who is now the President of Tougaloo College, Dr. Beverly W. Hogan went to work and those houses were replaced with low income housing. Rev. Jesse Jackson actually came to Tunica after our special reports; I will never forget some of the tragedies especially the murders of a young woman, her two week old son, and a friend who was home on military leave in 1994. I did not think I would be able to do the live shot because I cried so much.; And of course Wednesday’s Child. I have met so many special children who want to be loved. A little more than 7,000 have been adopted and I am so thankful that God gave me this assignment. Jackson Expose’: Tell us about Wednesday’s Child and how that segment got started. What kinds of recognition have you received for your endeavor? Maggie: I actually began doing Wednesday’s Child in November, 1985. I filled in one weekend and covered an adoption picnic. I spent more time playing with the kids and giving them the microphone than I did working! I fell in love with all of them. I still do. Several people with the Adoption Unit at the State Department of Human Services watched the whole thing and came to WLBT to ask our then News Director, Bert Case about the possibility of us being the first and only station in

Mississippi to carry a segment featuring children in need of permanent homes. He agreed we should do it, but the condition from DHS was that I be the person to do the segments. It was one of the greatest blessings of my life. There have been heart breaks along the way, we have lost some of the children to tragedy, but when I see them after they have been adopted and see the huge difference being loved and wanted can make, I realize we all can make a difference in someone’s life. I have received most of the awards, (over 500) in recognition of my work with Wednesday’s Child including being recognized by Congress twice as an Angel in Adoption, in 2001 and 2011, when I was nominated by Senator Thad Cochran. Jackson Expose’: You are also widely known for 3 On Your Side, how do you think it has impacted the community? I believe that as members of the media we are the eyes, ears and servants to the people, our viewers. 3 On Your Side is all about helping others find solutions to problems. It is about serving our viewers and recognizing the media’s powerful role in bringing positive change. It is not our job to tell people who to vote for or how to think. It is our responsibility to give people the information they need to make up their own minds. We don’t create the stories, it is our job to report them factually, fairly, and in a timely manner. Jackson Expose’: You are also a highly acclaimed Mistress of Ceremonies, tell us about some of the events you MC, particularly the Miss Mississippi Pageant.

Congressman Thad Cochran presented Maggie Wade-Dixon with an award for her dedication and service. Maggie: Well I don’t MC the Miss Mississippi Pageant, but I have been covering it for WLBT since 1995. The first time I covered the pageant was the year Toni Seawright became the first African American to win the title. I even covered her in Atlantic City! We were then brought in as the official Miss Mississippi station in 1995. I often tell people I work to pay the bills but I volunteer and do everything else to stay sane. I love what Marian Wright Edelman said, “Service is the rent we pay.” Serving as the MC of programs, volunteering and staying active in the community is truly a blessing! Jackson Expose’: Mrs. Wade-Dixon, you are one of the most beloved and revered women in Mississippi. We all love you and are very proud of you. I am so honored to have interviewed

you for Jackson Expose’. Are there any other words you would like to share with us? Maggie: One of my favorite quotes is from Mother Theresa: “I’d like to be a small pencil in the 10

www.ExposeMagazineOfJackson.com

hand of God writing love letters to the world.” I want to be that small pencil that God can use. It is my hope that my faith inspires others, and the light of Jesus is evident in everything I do. Above all else I live to please the Lord! I am learning every day that does not mean that you won’t have challenges, you won’t feel pain or disappointment, failure, frustration, anger, and even want to give up, but when I feel like that I remember, we are not defined by our situations, or circumstances, we are defined by what we do with them. I am hoping to complete two books that I’ve started, I want to watch my first grandchild, (my granddaughter) grow up to be everything God wants her to be, and it is my hope that above all else I have treated people with love, dignity and respect. COCHRAN RECOGNIZES MAGGIE WADE OF JACKSON AS CHAMPION OF ADOPTION & FOSTER CARE CAUSES IN MISSISSIPPI Nominated by Honorable Thad Cochran WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today announced that WLBT-TV anchor Maggie Wade of Jackson will be honored next week in Washington because of her dedication to finding adoptive families for Mississippi children in the foster care system. Cochran recommended Wade to be the 2011 Angel in Adoption from Mississippi as part of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s “Angels in Adoption” program. Wade will be in Washington Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 4-5, for events that will promote adoption and honor more than 190 Angels in Adoption from around the country. “Through Maggie Wade’s work as a news anchor, she has graciously helped find homes for thousands of foster children who need loving, permanent families. I am pleased that her advocacy on behalf of children in Mississippi will be recognized in the nation’s capital,” Cochran said. A native of Crystal Springs, Wade is the news co-anchor for WLBT and covers stories on education and children’s issues. Wade has utilized her position as a news anchor to help find nurturing families for foster children in need of permanent homes through a program called “Wednesday’s Child.” This program is shown every Wednesday during the 6:00 local news and highlights children in the foster care system awaiting adoption. As a result of this segment, 98 percent of the children featured have been adopted, totaling over 7,000 children. Wade’s civic works have been recognized by numerous organizations, including being honored as the 2009 Volunteer of the Year by Tougaloo College. An inductee into the Mississippi Association of Public Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Wade was also selected as the Citizen of the Year in 2009 for her work with Wednesday’s Child by the National Association of Social Workers, Mississippi Chapter. The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization focused on increasing awareness about children in need of permanent, safe and loving homes, and on eliminating barriers to adoption. CCAI, which does not receive government funding, was established in 2001 as an outgrowth of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption. Cochran and Congressman Alan Nunnelee are members of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption for the 112th Congress.

ood is such a unique experience because it involves everyone. Tasty food is enjoyed by everyone. It also provides a nostalgic or sentimental feeling to the person eating it. It simply gives the individual an easy-to-digest meal, soft in consistency, and rich in calories, nutrients, or both. The nostalgic element most flavorsome foods have is specific to either the individual or a specific culture. Many comfort foods are flavorful.
