point that he needed to do something to show his appreciation to God for his favor and grace. He also wanted to use the vehicle to be a blessing to others and sow into the lives of others. A certified mechanic by trade, working on vehicles came naturally. While in the military he had acquired mechanical skills. In January 2015, he started his very own company and ministry, My Mechanic On Wheels. With his business, he is able to help others who need mechanic and repair services but may be experiencing financial difficulties. The labor rates are almost more than half of the industry standard. He also provides discounted services for the elderly, and even those who may not be able to help those with no capabilities to pay at all. Although he would like to, he admits that he isn’t able to serve everyone. “As a Christian, I want to reach as many souls as possible and share the good news of Christ with them, so that they may receive the same salvation that I have,” he says. He also lends his services to the church that he attends, Life Changing Church, Inc., which is led by Overseer Dorothy Wood-McGuire. There he serves on the choir and evangelist team.

You should never judge a book by its cover. This is especially true when it comes to Chad and Phyllis Underwood. The newlyweds are still glowing in marital bliss as they are building a life and future as one. Chad, being the true gentleman that says he is the king to his queen. Phyllis only compliments him as they both exude a sincere love for God, acknowledging Him for the many episodes of grace in their lives. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Chad was raised in Wilmington, N.C. After graduating from high school he enrolled in the United States military, spending time in both the Army and the Marines, before getting hurt and receiving an honorable discharge in 1990. After the military, Chad fell into a life of drug use and despair. For nearly 20 years he used cocaine as a means to cope. It was during his addiction that he met Phyllis, who was also in her own battle with drug addiction. Over the next 20 years they would stay in touch with each other. Little did they know how their lives would play out. Chad lived on the streets, in and out of men’s shelters. “I slept in cars, on buses, under bridges and in abandoned buildings,” he says. He also spent time in countless treatment facilities before landing at Hope Haven, a housing facility for recovering addicts. While at Hope Haven he was able to establish some good habits. He landed a job and even got his own home. He would move his parents to Charlotte from Atlanta, Ga. It was around this time when he and Phyllis would reconnect. She had been clean for almost seven years at the time. Phyllis says they spent time talking and learning each other from a whole new perspective. “He talked to me and we both learned that we wanted something more than just a friendship,” she says. Phyllis isn’t your average lady. She knows what she wants and refuses to settle for less. Nearly five months after they arrived in Charlotte, Chad was involved in a terrible accident that left him injured and without a vehicle. While he recovered, his parents provided him with a vehicle. He knew at that 6

Several months after starting his business, those long talks the couple had together began to pay dividends. In April 2015, they were married and their union was solidified. Chad and Phyllis both know that their lives are a living testimony. Others who were there with them while they were waist deep into their addictions, the addicts and pushers can now look at their lives and see that there is hope, even for them. They acknowledge that without God, they can do nothing, but with God everything is possible. Their future seems bright as they move forward in life to serve people and help others. h

s a master barber, Ronald Wilson spends a great deal of time talking to people. It simply comes with the territory. It’s no secret that people often go to the barber or stylist just as much to relieve stress as they do to utilize the actual services. Some might call it cathartic just to have someone to talk to and lend a listening ear. Wilson has successfully combined his profession and his call to ministry; both of which often echo one another.
“Ministry and barbering does intertwine. I didn’t have that thought when I first got into the business, but the more I got into it I realized it’s a ministry standing behind the chair cutting hair. People tell me things that they would never tell anyone else,” Wilson said. “You often become a person’s mentor, coach, father, pastor, authority figure and whatever else that customer needs you to be. Barbering is a ministry, but a lot of people don’t really see it that way.” Wilson certainly isn’t in the profession just for the money. As a matter of fact he’s been spending less time cutting hair and more time immersed in ministry. As a full time pastor of a growing church, Wilson understands the responsibility, necessity and weight of ministry like never before. He, along with his wife, Rachel, pastor Kingdom Vision Life Center located in Greensboro, North Carolina. The non-denominational ministry is on a mission to take ownership of the rights and authorities of Heaven on earth. Wilson says he believes that God wants whatever is taking place in heaven to be exemplified on earth. He categorizes his church as an unashamed, radical group of young people who believe in praising God and lifting him up. “When people tell me they are coming to visit I tell them I hope they’re not nervous because we certainly believe in making a joyful noise,” Wilson said. Like most churches, Kingdom Vision Life Center has a number of ministries catered to nearly every demographic, need and interest, but it also has an exceptional ministry focused on marriage, curiously titled Marriage on the Rocks. While it may appear to be a questionable name, Wilson says it’s derived from a passage of scripture in the Bible. In it Jesus responds to a great revelation spoken by the disciple Peter and Jesus tells him, “upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell won’t prevail against it.” Every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. the church holds marriage ministry teaching along with singles and youth ministry. “It’s really a principle. If you build your marriage on certain principles it will last,” Wilson says. “We are very big on marriage. In the times that we live in the enemy has afflicted us and warped our minds concerning marriage. Therefore we have decided to pour into marriages as much as we can. We have two marriage retreats each year. I wish we could have more. I really feel like the foundation of society is built on marriage and family. If we don’t coach husbands and wives and be the family that God wants us to be, then society will die off.” As committed, dedicated and sure of the ministry that he now shepherds, Wilson admits there was a time he never envisioned his life unfolding as it has. Raised in the projects in Wilmington, North Carolina he grew up in an environment of gang banging, drug use and nearly every other ungodly experience, some of which he was a willing participant. Never one to sensationalize or romanticize the lifestyle he lived, he sums it up by stating that he simply agreed with his environment even as destructive as it was.

Nearly everything Wilson saw and did led him to believe his future would be just as caustic as the negativity he experienced on a regular basis. Obviously ministry was never on his radar, but God had other plans; however it took a near death experience for Wilson to finally see and accept it. “I was about 18 and I almost lost my life. One night I was doing drugs. I overdosed on powdered cocaine and I was having an anxiety attack as well. I saw my grandmother in the back of my mind. She would always try to tell me about the Lord. That night I saw death face to face so I said why not call on the Lord that my grandmother talked about,” Wilson said. “When I prayed that’s when my anxiety left. My chest had swollen up and my head had gone numb, but after the prayer I got feeling back in my head. That night the Lord saved my life and I’ve been walking with him ever since.” Wilson tells his testimony whenever given the opportunity. He believes it opens the door for him to be able to witness to other men and women struggling through the same depths of despair from which God had delivered him. While ministering, he often notes the distant, nonchalant looks of young people begin to dissipate once he begins to share his story of deliverance. “The bottom line and undercurrent with ministry, I believe, is to be able to relate,” he said. I’ve used the testimony of my past and have seen lives changed because of it.”

Changing lives is chief among Wilson’s desires. Certainly ministry is his main resource, but he’s also instituting change as a barber. While perfecting and honing his craft, he often noticed a steady pattern of behavior that compelled him to write two books: “101 Things Your Barber/Stylist Hates But May Never Tell You” and “The Science Beyond the Cut.” Although the first book is infused with humor, Wilson outlines real-life scenarios that every client and barber can identify with. “I noticed constant habits of customers and I would silently say to myself ‘I wish they would stop doing that.’” The book references the consistently late customer who conveniently forgets closing times; the non-tipper, the never satisfied customer and much more. Bottom line, Wilson wants clients to simply “cut it out.” His second book is written in a more serious tone and deals with the etiquette and management side of the business. Wilson believes a great deal of the respectability of the profession has become diluted because a generation of barbers and stylists have arisen whose sole purpose of being in the business is to gain a fast dollar.
Pictured with DL Master Barber and Comedian Michael Colyar
“It doesn’t matter how sharp you make someone’s hair cut look, if you don’t recognize there is a science beyond your ability you will always be broke. The reason is because some people don’t have etiquette or management skills,” Wilson says. Wilson’s books and message have been showcased at Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Mega Fest in Dallas, Texas where comedian Michael Colyar was able to peep inside and get a good chuckle. No matter the message, whether sharing the Gospel or dispensing handy barber tips; Wilson understands the power of simply sharing information. For him it’s all about spreading the word to help someone else. “Jesus spoke and said we would do even greater works than he did. Jesus didn’t have social media and all the things we have. I believe if he did he would have utilized it,” he said. Accordingly, he recognizes the tools he has been given and intends h on using them to reach the world.

early 3,000 miles away, there was a young boy facing unconventional circumstances. While most kids at the age of 12 were preoccupied with typical adolescent activities, Mark was acquiring skills that would last him a lifetime. A native of Oakland, California, Mark says he grew up very poor. He was raised with his two brothers in a two bedroom/one bathroom, 800 square foot home. He got his first job at a fruit stand at the age of 12. “I would get up early every morning before school and go to work. The owner gave me the keys to open the stand and I would stay there until he arrived, and then go to school, says Mark. The compensation was a mere two dollars per hour, but he worked 50 hours per week. However, that experience showed Mark that the fruit stand owner trusted him, and trust would take him far in life. After graduating from high school, he says there was no thought of going to college, mainly because his family couldn’t afford to send him or his brothers. His mother worked for an inner city community college in Oakland and his step-father was employed with a telephone company. He knew that in order for him to change his surroundings, he would have to work just as hard as his parents.

Mark Wheeliahan stands beside his custom build. He does more than just sell and rides motorcycles. He strives to know his customers and needs. After an attempt to pay his way through college at Cal State Hayward, he secured a job at a BMW dealership in Fremont, California. Because of Mark’s hard work and determination, he earned a position as fleet manager within nine months. He would continue his career within the BMW brand for 15 years. Mark’s path later led him to a Mercedes-BMW-Porsche-Rolls Royce-Bentley dealership as General Sales Manager. He aspired to own a BMW dealership, only to be discouraged after learning that he didn’t meet the requirements. Later a friend suggested that he look into opening a Harley-Davidson dealership. Mark bought his first Harley-Davidson motorcycle at age 18. Though it was wrecked, he says it was still a Harley. He had ridden motorcycles his whole young life and saw this as a great accomplishment. Because of his passion for riding, he began researching the idea of becoming a Harley-Davidson dealer. It took three years to qualify. Mark chose to purchase a dealership in North Carolina because of family ties in the southeast. Harley-Davidson has had a long and rich history in Greensboro. The first location was located on South Elm-Eugene Street which opened in 1937 under the name of Sparky’s. In 1998, Mark put things into action and became the third owner in the dealership’s history. His intention was to “become the dealer forever and not for a short period of time,” so Mark quickly implemented a plan for growth. Upon the success of the new dealership and his attention to customer service, the market created a demand for two satellite locations in High Point and Reidsville. For nearly eight years the dealerships were recognized for being amongst the top performing Harley-Davidson dealerships in North Carolina. After the recession of 2009, he decided to consolidate the satellite locations and bring everything to their existing location in Greensboro. This allowed him to focus more on meeting the needs of his customers, staff, and the community. Harley-Davidson of Greensboro is the home dealer to Greensboro, Reidsville, Thomasville, Gibsonville, and most of Rockingham County. Mark’s background as a highline car dealership operator allowed him to bring best practices and services for a customized Harley-Davidson experience. He has accomplished this by being totally committed to meeting the needs of his customers. There are currently 596 HarleyDavidson dealerships. Harley-Davidson of Greensboro is number one in the Southeast and number two in the United States, rated by their customers. “We are so fortunate to have customers think so highly of us. Regardless of what the economy is doing, if you are treating your customers right your business has a solid 16

foundation,” he says. An example of his commitment to providing superior customer service happens in the Service Department. They offer to pick-up and deliver for those who live within a reasonable distance. Mark admits that he is a bit reserved, however he is passionate about remaining active in the community. He supports various charitable organizations and events. “If you want a lasting relationship with your customers, you must engage with your community,” he says. “A lot of businesses just take, and do not give back. We give back.” Some of these include Brenner Children’s Hospital, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Field of Honor, Wounded Warrior Project, MDA, Susan B. Koman, Victory Junction, Duke Children’s Research Center, Greensboro Children’s Museum, Women Resource Center of Greensboro, Family Service of the Piedmont, and Juvenile Diabetes. He also serves or has served as a board member with the Greensboro Merchants Association, Operation Smile, Crime Stoppers and D.A.R.E. There is something for everyone at HarleyDavidson of Greensboro. With one out of every five customers currently being female, Mark was excited to create the first Harley-Davidson authorized allwomen’s Harley Owner Group in the world. He also welcomes other groups and supports various rides throughout the year. He doesn’t dwell on the fact that he had a tough upbringing and how his biological father wasn’t involved in his life as a child. Instead he embraces the life that he has now. Unfortunately, Mark has lost his parents as well as his two brothers. He has replaced these voids with the new family and friends that God has placed in his life. Mark is happily married and dedicated to being actively involved in the lives of his children. He is very adamant about not missing one single activity or occasion. He has one daughter and two sons, one of whom recently joined the United States Marine Corps. Though he wants the very best for his kids, he says they are not entitled to a free ride through life or even guaranteed a job at his dealership. “They must work just as hard as I did, and as my parents did. That is how I learned and what has helped to make me into what I am today,” he says. If one of his children decides to come and work at his company, he says they must start at the bottom. Moving forward, Mark plans to keep the wheels turning at Harley-Davidson of Greensboro. He encourages everyone to stop by and learn more about what they have to offer. It is more than just motorcycles. It’s an experience that he has tailored made for everyone that has ever dreamed about owning a “Harley”.

obin Stevens always dreamed of being an accountant and singer. It may have seemed like an unlikely pairing for many people, but to Stevens it would simply be a marriage of her two loves.
At 40 years of age and after raising her son, Stevens returned to college and followed through on part of her dream and obtained her degree in accounting. She had no reason to believe that it wasn’t the one thing she had yet to fulfill in her life. One night while sitting in bed, Stevens heard God speak. He told her to write a modern day play of the Biblical story of the woman with an issue of blood. Without question or concern she immediately got out of bed, read the scripture and began writing. Within two weeks she had written her first stage play; cast with her fellow church members. “I had never written anything before,” Stevens said. “At first I said the same things that I knew other people would say: that I’ve never written a stage play. That I didn’t know how to cast it and I didn’t know how to direct it. I truly stepped out on faith and believed that what God told me [to do] was true. The rest is history.”

Her success has had much more to do with her raw talent and sheer will and determination to fulfill her dreams than her technical knowledge of the craft. Admittedly, she has never taken a writing class, nor does she have any theatrical training. She researched as much as she could, but ultimately she had a direct commission from God. Obedience was her only option.

I followed through, but the first thing the director said was ‘how do you know God was speaking to you? How do you know you hear from God?’ She wouldn’t work with me,” Stevens said. The rejection was overwhelming. Support was few and far between, and attempts to rehearse or utilize the facility were met with hostility to say the least. “At that time leaders would either lock me in or lock me out and tell me to leave,” Stevens said. “I almost gave up. I said if I can’t get the support I need then I just won’t do it.” Giving up was never an option. Stevens says God spoke again; loud and clear. She vividly heard him say, “Stay and die or leave and live.” Being involved in a tumultuous marriage, Stevens reasoned that the mandate referred to her chaotic and abusive marital situation. After seeking God, she realized she was being directed to attend another ministry. Remaining where she was

jeopardized her ability to develop the talent and gift God had given her. She decided to produce her plays elsewhere. Immediately, she found the support and assistance she needed. Moreover, her dreams of singing and performing resurfaced. Included were revelations of new plays, songs, books, movies and poems. “When I started writing plays, I would get song lyrics. I’ve always written poetry. I would get the melody, so I started writing songs that would be included in my plays,” Stevens said. “I just love singing.” Gifted with song and music, she recently recorded her first single and has been making strides to rekindle the flame and passion she once had; even revisiting and redeveloping her childhood ability to play the piano. In 2014, Stevens published the first novel in the “Delivered” series featuring the main character, Heaven, a waitress by day and mistress by night. Although Heaven is a fictional character, Stevens says there’s a significant message behind her sordid life.

“It’s a message of knowing who you are and not losing your identity in things and people. Heaven had lots of questions as a young girl. She didn’t look like her parents. She thought she would find her purpose in men. Later she finds out that’s not her purpose,” Stevens said. “There’s a lot of me in her story. A part of me is in every play. With Heaven I’m the part that doesn’t know who she is or who her purpose is and the young girl who dealt with a lot of guys. Thank God I know who I am and know my purpose. That’s why I truly want to walk in everything God has given me to do.” Adopted into a Christian family at five months old and continuing to maintain a sincere relationship with God, Stevens’ projects initially centered on Gospel themes, but as she has grown and matured in her craft and her interests have expanded, she has delved into other genres, particularly contemporary dramas. Nevertheless she says there will always be a message behind everything she does. And what she is doing is spreading like wildfire. Convinced that Heaven’s entire story hasn’t been told, Stevens debuted “Heaven” – a YouTube web series that picks up where the first novel leaves off – on Christmas day 2015. In the meantime, fans of the book, web series and character can look forward to the 2016 release of the second book in the “Delivered” series titled, “Heaven’s Return,” in the second novel a tragedy forces the seemingly reformed character to revisit her old, promiscuous ways. An accountant by day and media mogul by night, late night, early morning, every weekend and every other available moment in between, Stevens admits she rarely rests, but she says she loves it all and it never becomes tiresome. “I love it and hope to have several shows one day. Look for me to be the writer of the next blockbuster movie or a drama series,” she said. “It’s all about delivering a powerful message with entertainment. I try to deliver a message to inspire, encourage, help and sometimes to even offer solutions to problems.” h

A
chievement requires action and that is exactly what Greensboro native, Tifanie Rudd has applied to her life. She is an accomplished spiritual life coach who teaches, preaches, inspires and motivates people on how to restore and build their lives and self-esteem. She has a very strong compassion for helping those who may have been ignored by others. She is the kind of person that understands that there is value in everyone, but not everyone is willing or patient enough to find it. She has received two awards, 2012 Women Who Care Award (From Pain to Purpose) and a 2014 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. honorary award that recognized her passion for helping the homeless community. In 2013, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in divinity and master’s degree in Christian counseling from Grace Christian College.
M8D 2 Rise, Inc. was founded in 2006 by Rudd. Her passion for helping others, especially those with special needs led her to start a company to insure the continued growth and success of all people throughout the Triad by developing services to support the education and preparation for the current and future work forces in the global economy. In return, she built an organization that operates with a proactive approach and that believes that everyone is capable of rising against all odds. Rudd says, “We believe that everyone in our community who desires support in gaining adequate employment should receive assistance.” 26

Their mission is to restore and build the lives and self-esteem of individuals who have challenges in gaining competitive employment. Doing this Rudd says her clients may maintain success, and confidence in who they are and what they can offer to the community. M8D 2 Rise, Inc. is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF is an international organization that provides accreditation services for health and human service providers. Some of the services they provide are vocational assessment Information and resources, case management, career planning, career development, job preparation, job placement, job coaching, job retention, post placement support, personal development, personal/career advocacy, life skills training, life coaching, and entrepreneurial development.
It is only by the grace of God that M8d2Rise is even here. We believe that everyone in our community is made to rise against all odds, and who desires support in gaining adequate employment should receive assistance.” Tifanie Rudd

In 2009, Rudd lost her brother, David Lee. She says he was a former offender and had reached out to her for help. “I felt compelled to help others like him because he believed that I could help him. Before he died, I felt like I did not help him enough so now I help others who have the same struggles as he did. He believed in me and told me that I could help him,” she says. That experience is what drives Rudd to do all she can. She has been very fortunate to have others in her corner who shares the commitment as she does to serve people. Her husband, Montrell, she says has had her back from the beginning. He actually came up with the name M8D 2 Rise, however it was God she says who gave her the meaning of the name. Her spiritual parents, Dr. Clifton and Dr. Antoinette Sawyer have kept her and the business covered through prayer. “They have coached me along this journey and reassured me so many times,” she says. Alicia Streeter, her right hand and Chief Operating Officer made her presence as well. “She assisted me when I was teaching in a garage and we even held business meetings in my car,” says Rudd. She also thanks Valerie Udofia Brown for providing her with her first office and obtaining the necessary CARF accreditation. h

imberly Robinson of Charlotte describes herself as a 40 year old black woman who transformed her addiction and love for shoes into a business. Her business is The Sole Addiction, and it has allowed Robinson to share her sole cravings with other shoe addicts who refuse to get help.
The Sole Addiction is an online shoe store and a Mobile Shoetique on wheels for women. “We have unique styles, great prices and the latest fashions in shoes all within a luxury fashion truck. The Sole Addiction Mobile Shoetique is about having Fun and “not” helping those suffering with a sole addiction,” she says.
“We have unique styles, great prices and the latest fashions in shoes all within a luxury fashion truck. The Sole Addiction Mobile Shoetique is about having fun and not helping those suffering with a sole addiction”. Robinson also offers women shoes that someone may not find in their local mall. Their collection consist of heels, boots, sneakers, flats, and sandals sized from (6-11), along with a few handbags to accent their shoes. The shoes aren’t the only great thing they provide. Robinson is committed to providing great customer service, in person and online. “We provide the convenience of bringing the shoetique to you for on-site shopping, and we offer the capability of shopping online, and we just added the service of a personal shoe stylist for women looking for that perfect shoe to go with their outfit or special occasion,” she says. The Sole Addiction is always making changes to their inventory to please their growing list of customers. They have incorporated more lower heels and are looking to get larger sizes for women that wear size 12 and up.

The Sole Addiction was created online in 2010 after Robinson suffered a job loss in the banking industry during the recession period of 2009. With an abundance of free time on her hands, she was able to get her business going. It began with a website. Although she was selling online, Robinson says her potential clients needed to see the shoes and try them on. “Having the shoes right there in eye sight and being able to try them on is what drives the sells. Almost hard for some women to resist. So the only way for that to happen was for me to go to them,” says Robinson.
Pictured with Kimberly is her daughter Keira, who serves as an assistant and sales associate. Below is The Mobile Sole Addiction Shoetique
While determined to build her brand and sell shoes, she packed her SUV with as many shoes boxes that would fit and traveled to surrounding hair salons and nail shops. That generated the buzz and the interest of the women to want to host a shoe party in their homes with their family and friends. She also participated in local vending events to showcase her product. After doing this for two years, Robinson says she knew there had to be an easier way to travel around with all those shoes. She started looking into several brick and mortar properties. She soon realized that wasn’t the best route to take due to the overhead costs and leasing expenses. Then one day she came across some pictures on a social media site about fashion trucks that were popping up all over the east and west coast. That’s when she says her mind started running with ideas and a much clearer vision. On September 20, 2014, the grand opening of Charlotte’s first Mobile Shoetique “The Sole Addiction Mobile Shoetique” was launched. Robinson says she is inspired by her accomplishments thus far. Just a few years ago, she was still searching on what she wanted to do and be when she grew up. “Yes I had several good jobs working for major companies but none of that matters when you are just there to get a pay check and you’re not happy,” she says. Being a business owner, she loves what she does. “I love shoes, it’s an addiction. I love meeting people who feel the same way that I do. I build relationships with my customers, both women and men,” she says. Moving forward, Robinson says she plans to have more trucks on the road that will include a shoetique for men as well. She has even explored the idea of franchising her business to other markets. h

Four Resolutions For 2016 (
)
New Year, new you? In the New Year January manages to be a month of broken promises. Whether you declared to exercise three times a week or read two books a month, resolutions can quickly start to feel like work and become hard to stick with. However, we remain hopeful to reach our goals. Read on for 5 resolutions to make to your beauty routine in 2016 that you’ll actually want to keep.
1.
The thoughtless reaction to a new blemish is to pick it or pop it, but touching the pimple can cause infection or the bacteria to spread, resulting in a further breakout and leaving dark spots in unwanted areas. This year, heal with Bovanti’s Dark Spot Diminisher to speed healing and ease the urge to pick at them.

2.
It’s easy to fall into a makeup routine and stick with it. “If it works, why break it?” is a sentiment we completely understand, but sometimes it pays to step outside of your comfort zone. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Dare yourself to try one new thing—whether it’s Bovanti’s Newest Product Liquid Lips Matte that glides on as a gloss and dries matte—at least once each month in 2016 . You may discover this great product will become a part of your regular rotation.

ow that another new year is upon us, I am sure you are all thinking about what your resolutions will be for 2016 and wondering how in the world you are going to achieve those lofty goals you have set for yourself. Since these goals can be overwhelming for so many, and sometimes downright unrealistic, I decided to do a little research to see how many resolutions are actually kept each year. The numbers may not be surprising but they certainly speak volumes. Did you know that 50% of resolutions are broken within the first two weeks? And that by the end of January, 95% of resolutions have been abandoned altogether? Only 5% of New Years’ resolutions are kept beyond January! In my research, I found reasons that pointed to how people with such great intentions can get sidetracked so easily. The reasons are many but here are the main causes that those 95% of people give up on their goals.

1. Procrastination – putting off daily commitments that add up over time 2. Lack of discipline - giving in to the ‘now’ and losing sight of the long-term picture 3. Financial Roadblocks – something unexpected occurs or you didn’t budget properly 4. Doing it alone – turning away from the opportunity to have others motivate, or influence you, to help you succeed I realized that the majority of resolutions fail because only a small percentage of people are committed to reaching the goals they have set for themselves, without room for excuses. You have what it takes to overcome these obstacles and find yourself in that 5% of people who are finding success at reaching their goals! The catch is you have to attach your actions to your future emotions. Picture how you will feel when you tell your family and friends what you have accomplished. How does it make you feel when you picture your success at health, wealth, completed projects or whatever you have set your mind to? Whatever your goals are for the New Year, I urge you to put them into action and do not wait. Action creates results. If you’re really serious about making some changes this year, here are some surefire ways to make your goals a reality. 1. Schedule a Meeting to Map Your Way Stay with me here. You wouldn’t drive anywhere without knowing the way. Then why would your resolution ‘destination’ be any different? Ask yourself important questions like, “Where do I want to be 3- 6 months from now?” and “How will accomplishing this goal make me feel?” Write down your responses. Your answers will give you a clear indication on the direction you need to go. If you need help contact a coach. 2. Have a Daily Planning System and Define your Key Results Based on your answers from the first question, we know it wouldn’t make sense to drive somewhere without knowing the way. It’s just as important to know how you’re going to get there. Writing down the key results, or action steps to take along the way, will help you to get through the day-to-day decisions and better manage your time without feeling overwhelmed. Keeping yourself accountable for your key results will not only help you stay on track but it will also allow you to see smaller results that are necessary for progress towards your larger goals.

3. Take Action Action creates results. Now is the time to take everything you’ve learned about reaching your goals for 2016 and achieve the results you want and deserve! If you follow the steps above you’re bound to the make the accomplishments in your life you have always dreamed of. Once you’ve experienced the satisfaction of reaching your goals, you won’t settle for anything less. So don’t delay! Do whatever it takes to define and achieve your goals today.
