ARDBEG | YOUR OFFICIAL ARDBEG EMBASSY

Perched on a rocky headland in the southernmost part of Islay, the Ardbeg Distillery is one of the most remote and atmospheric of all the Scottish Distilleries, its layers of intrigue an artful mix of subtlety and balance. Glengarry Jervois Rd has just become the Auckland Ardbeg Embassy, part of a global network of outposts supporting everything Ardbeggian. Just follow the unmistakable peaty aromas to the door.

MALT & CHAMPAGNE ANNUAL TASTING ABOUTWINE

It’s the season of giving and a time to treasure what is truly important in all our lives… Anyone else first think of Champagne? Or Whisky? Or maybe the both of them together?…

The best way to finish up another year of the Malt Club and we look forward to bringing you all new and exciting releases in the new year. Merry Christmas and Slàinte mhath! Jak Jakicevich, the third-generation family member and owner of Glengarry and Liz Wheadon, our General Manager may have thought so when they first dreamt up this annual tasting some years back. Both events sold out in Auckland and another in Wellington; proving it to be a fantastic night for our Whisky and Champagne enthusiasts alike. 3

A TASTE OF SOUTH AMERICA

South America is the new vinous frontier, and the reinvigoration, energy and excitement on display there is palpable. Chile and Argentina are the powerhouses of the production, with the varieties utilised within both nations somewhat similar, but don’t tell them that. Malbec is king, Cabernet Franc one of the royal relatives and they appear to be the last bastion of the lavishly-monikered ERRAZURIZ

Carmenere. Many of the new wineries being created are nothing short of stunning, and the wines themselves are increasing in both quality and value at an exhilarating rate.

PRESTIGE CHAMPAGNE TASTING | THORNDON Our New Year Champagne tasting is of course the best of the best. For a strictly controlled region such as Champagne it is surprising that there very few regulations regarding Prestige Champagne. However, it is clearly in the best interest of each House to make sure that these wines are the very best that they can produce. A typical Prestige Champagne is made WHEN: Wednesday 30th January WHERE: Glengarry Thorndon,

in the cellars and there are numerous examples of late disgorged wines. There is also more thought put in to the bottle and the presentation to make it as luxurious and special as possible. We have a stellar line up and look forward to trying them with you.
