AO YUN 2015 | THE EAST VENTURES WEST
Himalayan wine? Who knew? Ao Yun have been working out what that is since 2013. Frenchman Mazence Dulou is Estate Director and Winemaker. Born and raised in le Sauternais, he brings Gallic smarts to the operation, moving his family to the beautiful village of Adong in the breathtaking Yunnan province. With its warm year and large harvest, Mazence considers the 2015 Ao Yun’s greatest vintage since they began. A blend of four villages, 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Cabernet Franc, the wine is voluptuous and spicy, with a suitably exotic nose, a soft, dense, rounded palate and a long, mineraledged finish. Embrace the new! Read More..

TE KAIRANGA | FINE WINES OF NEW ZEALAND 2019
Every year, six Masters of Wine and a Master Sommelier blind taste, debate, re-taste and collectively rate hundreds of wines in order to select those few with the quality, pedigree and longevity worthy of inclusion on the definitive list of truly world-class New Zealand wines. This year, the judges unanimously voted that Te Kairanga John Martin Pinot Noir 2017 claim its place. Te Kairanga is an unlisted public company with

SPAIN | UTIEL-REQUENA
On Spain’s eastern coast, Utiel-Requena is historically linked to producing more bulk wine than quality. A few producers are starting to adjust this view. One leading the charge is Mas de Bazan, which is rapidly procuring a rep for its excellent reds. The variety of note is the indigenous Bobal grape, which somehow thrives in the extreme, dry conditions and poor soils. Read More..

WESTMERE WINE CLUB - JUNE | WITH PATRICK FROM RIMU GROVE In the early 1990s, Patrick Stowe toured New Zealand, falling for Nelson’s Bronte Peninsular. He returned to buy seven hectares there and, in 1995, he established Rimu Grove. His philosophy was simple: do everything it takes to get the most out of the vineyard – hands-on, plenty of hard work, very little machinery but loads of buckets. Patrick loves great Burgundy,
