RIVERA Founded in 1950 by Sebastiano de Corato, the estate is run by Sebastiano’s son Carlo, and his son, Sebastiano, and is positioned firmly on the world stage as a benchmark producer of Apulian wine. AKARUA | LATEST FROM THE PINOT VIRTUOSOS

The majority of Akarua’s Central Otago vineyards are planted in their signature Pinot Noir. Wines are hard-won from soils that are mostly broken schist and sand, with frosts in winter and dry nor’westers that devigorate the vines. They put a lot of focus on fruit quality, and in the winery employ gentle, minimalist techniques that allow the wines to express the purity of fruit and terroir. In 2016, the Rhone Valley enjoyed a fantastic year, following on from the excellent 2015 vintage. The 2016 wines from across the whole region, regardless of appellation or stylistic spectrum, are remarkably poised and balanced. The aristocratic Northern Rhone wines display classic characters not seen for a generation. The key in the Southern Rhone has been the long growing season, which allowed grapes to reach optimum ripeness, with cool nights providing great freshness. The wines, particularly from quality-driven domaines, even those from the lowest-ranked appellations, are exceptionally good and offer superb value. Read More..
