What most North Texans don?t know is how many animals are being abused, neglected and abandoned, just in this area alone. The SPCA of Texas (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas) is the leading animal welfare agency in North Texas with two shelters and three spay/neuter clinics located in Dallas and McKinney. The organization?s Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit investigates more than 3,700 animal cruelty cases each year, many of which result in criminal convictions. On average, they end up rescuing over 3,000 animals out of harm?s way every year in multiple Texas counties. The SPCA of Texas is a non-profit and relies 100% on the support of the community to continue their operations. In hopes to continue making a positive impacts for animals in our community and raise awareness about animal cruelty in North Texas, the SPCA of Texas is hosting the 15th Annual Strut Your Mutt, The Race to End Animal Cruelty on Saturday, May 9. This 3K fun run/walk and 5K timed run benefitting the SPCA of Texas will be held at the base of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas. This will be a fun and exciting event for all four- and two-legged members of the family. In addition, all donations and registration fees raised will support the organizations efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome thousands of animals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
