TexasHomePlans.com is an award winning custom home design firm located in the Texas Hill Country. Our design team offers over 40 years of combined experience in both residential and commercial design, as well as construction. We have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of clients culminating with an extensive portfolio of more than 1200 plans. While most of our homes have been designed for sites within Texas, we have also designed homes in 8 other states, including a parade home outside of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Mickey Thompson is the owner and primary designer of TexasHomePlans.com. As a designer with a never-ending creative flare, he believes that the best designs come from listening carefully to a client’s desires and ideas coupled with attention to the natural attributes and constraints of the site. There is an inherent joy in knowing that we have provided our clients with a home design that is aesthetically exciting, functionally efficient, and economically within budget. Mickey has designed a number of commercial projects including a prototype of the Chili’s Restaurant and various church facilities. In addition to design, he has an extensive background in construction and real estate finance, all of which have enabled more sophisticated home designs. Mickey has won design awards in Texas and Arkansas.

Garden Home is a single-family unit sited on a building lot that is typically not much larger than the building foundation. A garden home will, in addition to fitting on a

building footprint of 50 feet or less, have three or more

bedrooms(2) (3), kitchen, garage and , naturally, bath-

rooms. In order for a small building lot to provide usable

yard space, one side of the home is placed as close to the

property line as possible. This placement typically allows

marginal space between two homes on adjacent lots. Therefore, there are sometimes no windows on the side of the home closest to the property line. In the case of Zero Lot Line development, no windows will exist on the side which is placed on the property line.

Casita is a small guest quarters detached, but close to a main residence. It typically will provide a sleeping area, bath room and closet. Often times the sleeping area will be large enough to facilitate a sitting area and possi-

bly a coffee/beverage bar. One could think of a Casita as a free standing Hotel/Motel room. However, a Casita is different from a cabin, which includes a kitchen, and a Carriage house, which includes an attached garage.
