WTU to set up Chinese language center and co-host yearly fashion festival in BUFT Md. Asiqul Islam Choyon, Campus Correspondent, WTU, China
Chinese university Wuhan Textile University (WTU) is to set up a Chinese language center in BUFT. Both the universities also will jointly organize fashion festival every year. The decisions have been finalized during a high level visit of BUFT Pro Vice Chancellor to WTU. Pro Vice Chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), Bangladesh Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan has visited Wuhan Textile University (WTU) from 24th to 28th April, 2017. Under the agreement of MOU signed between WTU & BUFT in 2014, both universities are committed to visit each university &
discuss the areas related to each other’s interests every year. According to the agreement, this year Prof. Nabi visited the WTU. During this visit, he met Dr. Xiong Zhaofei , the President of Wuhan Textile University, Dr. Xia Huosong, Dean, School of Fashion, Dr. Shangyong Zhang, Dean, School of Management. Prof. Khan also visited Prof. Lin Li, Dean, School of Textile, Dean of Foreign Language department & Director of International Office and discussed many important issues. He emphasized on improving the quality of students and the standard of education. The both parties expressed that in future WTU will set up a Chinese language center in BUFT and both universities will co-host a yearly fashion festival. International Students representative from different school Md Abdullah Jaman Jony, Md. Neaz Morshed & Md Asiqul Islam Choyon met him & discussed on many significant issues like students welfare etc. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan took part in a seminar titled “Bangladesh Ready Made Garment Industry (RMG): Meet the challenge to gain 2021 vision of exporting 50 billion USD” as a keynote speaker on 26th April, 2017. In this seminar, about 60 international students from various departments of the university were present. They all were from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Russia, Kenya & Nigeria. Along with them, he visited the textile lab & Birmingham Institute of Fashion center in WTU, Chinese historical village, Botanical Garden and so on.
