mindset and concept. For long term success, integrity is a must, because without fundamental basics, any success is short term. For those entire things, someone has to be impactful and thus transformation will occur. “The solutions will come by the hand of the young’s who have leadership mind. The main leadership attribute is the pro-activeness. Someone may be called pro-active who take responsibilities and initiatives willingly to make something happened. Reactive peoples are those who fear to be changed and wait for others to make the environment suitable. Proactive people always makes reference which followed by others. If an organization has a group of proactive people then it will have sustainable growth and transformation will be happened”, he added with informing that Masco group aligned all of its stuff to its goal for transformation and team building culture. He informed that for process transformation, KAIZEN tools are used. KAIZEN is a continuous improvement process. In China, about 7 million KAIZEN teams are working, in India 55 thousand KAIZEN teams are working, in Japan 52 thousand teams are working but in Bangladesh there is no registered KAIZEN team. In Bangladesh, our garments sector has only 10% value addition activities, but if it increases to 20 percent by KAIZEN, huge transformation is possible here. Value addition in product is another way of transformation. Panelist Mr. Sayed Fakhrul Hassan also emphasized on value addition of product for transformation. Mohim Hassan said, “Habit of reading is needed for transformation. It is for better understanding and collaboration which helps in transformation.” He also said that companies should be focused on new ideas for transformation. M R Jamil Tipu said that government should have policies for new industries. “There are no private economic zone for textile industry which is really frustrating. Power problem is acute in Bangladesh mostly electricity and gas problem”, he added. He noted that Bangladesh should have more spinning mills for transformation and government should give subsidies for spinning sector. Gulshun Ara Munni said, “We should be boosted up and should be innovative, creative and do more research for transformation.” She marked the point that we should be disciplined with time, which will help in real transformation. Mohammed Shohel Ahmed said, “We are not utilizing our experience which is a great resource for transformation.” He said the young generation has to take responsibility with integrity. Mr. Nure A. Khan said, “We should be resourceful for transformation” and gave consent to Mr. Milton’s suggestion. Rejaul Hasan said, “Give lesser focus and do hard work for transformation.”

Nuclear Power Plant will add 2.4 GW power in the grid within 2023. Fuel mix for power generation is mostly natural gas (around 66%) based, followed by oil, hydropower and coal. Nuclear based power generation is must for supporting an industrialized nation. Power System Master Plan 2016 (PSMP16) of Bangladesh government is to solve the electricity problem properly. PSMP16, sponsored by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), aims at helping the Bangladesh in formulating an extensive energy and power development plan up to the year 2041, covering energy balance, power balance, and tariff strategies. A meticulous analysis is required to find the best pathway to attain the sustainability of the energy and power sectors in balancing with the economic growth. The new PSMP study covers all the aforementioned challenges comprehensively, and come up with feasible proposals and action plans for Bangladesh to implement. If it is implementing properly electricity problem will not be the barrier for our heavy industry. Raw materials The Bangladesh Textile Mills Association’s Sr. Certification Officer Ali Ahmad said, “Every year we are importing capital machinery of about 30 billion dollar from different countries for different sectors and demand of the capital machinery are increasing day by day. The heavy industrialization isn’t possible in Bangladesh because our main problem is that we have no basic raw materials like Iron”. However there is different opinion also, MM Hoque Harun, Alumni of BUTEX and Managing Director of Fatullah Enterprise Ltd. who is involved for last 21 years in Textile Machinery business in Bangladesh, said that, “Heavy industrialization highly possible in Bangladesh and we need it badly to face the new sustainable challenge. Raw materials, technical soundness and infrastructure are not big issues. Our main barrier is our government policy and their sincere willingness.” Actually, for the semi-heavy industrialization iron is not only the raw materials. Gas, oil, coal, salt, petroleum, uranium, tin, bauxite, copper, gold, silver, rubber etc. are also the basic raw materials for it. Availability of raw materials is another requirement of semi-heavy industrialization in Bangladesh. To turn the country into a semi-heavy industrialized country Bangladesh government’s initiative is must. Without government initiative, it will not be possible.

Manager & Marketing of Tua-ha Textiles Ltd said to the Textile Today, “Last few weeks we are purchasing all types of yarn with 6 to 7 percent higher price specially cotton. On the other hand the retailers are not willing to give any upcharge for that changed. Also, the spinning mills did not deliver the goods on time to show lots of clauses.” “It’s like ‘To pour water on a drowned mouse’,” he added. Cotton-Polyester Price The 30s and 20s cotton-polyester is now sold at $ 2.85 per kilo, representing a 2.40% increase within one week and an 4.91% surge over the past five weeks in Bangladesh market. Almost all yarn price has risen in Bangladesh by 5 to 8 cents in a single week and by over 15 cents on average over five weeks. Last ten years, cotton consumption has also more than doubled, success over 1.5 million metric tons, and the current cotton season 2017-18 (August-July) could see a rise by 10.8% of cotton consumption, according to latest data from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Bangladesh has increased 60% mills in the period of 2006-2016 to fulfill the potential demand. Last 10-year period, cotton imports have increased by 101.4%, projected at 1.58 million metric tons this season. Indian cotton traders have cancelled their Bangladesh Cotton Use: 2007/08-2017/18 Use

Bangladesh imports more than 50% of its natural fibers from India, whereas cotton prices are risen 15% in India last six weeks. SHIMA SEIKI PARTICIPATING IN DTG-2018 EXHIBITION IN DHAKA The 15th Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition (DTG) will be held on 8 ~11 February, 2018 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), Dhaka, Bangladesh. SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD. is going to participate in this exhibition as usual in Hall No-06 and Booth No-603. Considering customer’s expectation and trend this year Shima Seiki will introduce some New Model Machine technology as follow.

SSR 122 SV : SHIMA SEIKI's SSR inherits the know-how and experience accumulated over the years as the leading manufacturer of computerized flat knitting machines. Productivity is increased with a maximum knitting speed of 1.2 meters per second, as well as with the R2CARRIAGE System that achieves quicker carriage returns. It also carries over proven SHIMA SEIKI technology such as our renowned Digital Stitch Control System (DSCS), spring-loaded Full-Sinker System, Stitch Presser, Yarn Gripper and Cutter and Takedown Comb. Made-in-Japan quality, reliability, productivity, user-friendliness and cost-performance combine to satisfy the high expectations of the world's fashion industry. SWG091N2 : The new "SWG-N2" series is SHIMA SEIKI’s compact class of WHOLEGARMENT knitting machines. Featuring our renowned Slide Needle on 10-, 16-, 24- and 36-inch wide needle beds respectively, SWG021N2, SWG041N2, SWG061N2 and SWG091N2 are capable of producing a range of fashion accessories from gloves, socks, hats, mufflers, neck-ties and other small items, as well as childrenswear and even leggings and tank tops, all in their entirety, with no sewing or linking required*. The new SWG-N2 series features the proven R2CARRIAGE system for higher productivity. A larger number of yarn carriers and holding hooks for yarn cutting, as well as a separate yarn holder with increased capacity allows for even more flexibility in multi-color knitting. In addition to their established reputation in the fashion industry, the SWG-N2 series is also capable of producing technical textiles, such as industrial material, sports, medicine and safety, expanding your business potential far beyond present limits. P-CAM : SHIMASEIKI's P-CAM series multi-ply computerized cutting machines (NC cutting machines), with an already established reputation for their high efficiency, productivity and quality, have been renovated across its entire line. Faster and smoother head movement improves productivity. A low-vibration, low-noise head is adopted to improve the work environment. New functions such as a one-touch drill attachment, a more compact Y-beam controller, and a switch for moving the conveyor and cutting the vinyl sheet, enhance operability. Moreover, the optional turbo fan suppresses fluctuation in air pressure for stable multi-ply cutting. Cutting thickness of 1 inch (33mm), 2 inches (55mm) or 3 inches (75mm) can be selected. Especially for 3 inches, increasing Y-beam clearance enables loading of thicker material before suction. A new knife sharpening system produces a sharper, stronger blade every time. Stronger, more robust component parts permit quicker response times for knife movement and more accurate cutting for thick fabric such as denim. For cutting area of P-CAM181/182/221/222, in addition to S and L types, LL type is supported for wider range. The multi-ply computerized cutting machines (NC cutting machines) P-CAM machines are the perfect choice for flexible high-volume production in a new era of global apparel production, as well as for such other applications

as work wear, sewing, knit manufacturing, automotive, industrial material, container bag, flexible container bag, cloth container, carbon fiber fabric, carbon cloth, aramid fiber, woven fabric, tent, canvas, nonwoven fabric, filter, felt, and furniture. SVR123SP : SHIMA SEIKI's SVR-series continues to inherit the DNA of innovative technology that makes it the global standard in computerized shaping machines. Now with loop pressers, SVR093SP and SVR123SP are capable of producing unprecedented designs in knit fabrics, especially inlay patterns, which combine knit and weave characteristics to produce hybrid textiles. In addition, the new i-Plating option can be combined with inlay patterns as well as sinker patterns produced with the patented moveable sinker system, opening up a whole new world of patterning for truly diverse knit design. SVR093SP/123SP carries over established SHIMA SEIKI technology such as the R2CARRIAGE System, Digital Stitch Control System (DSCS), stitch presser, takedown comb and yarn gripper and cutter system. Proven technology, along with Made-in-Japan quality, reliability, productivity, user-friendliness and increased patterning capability all combine to satisfy the high expectations of the world's fashion industry. SDS-ONE-APEX3 : SHIMTRONIC Design system featuring everything you need to create high-quality productions with high fashion appeal. 1. Planning / Design: *Fashion Illustrations *Spec Sheets *Color ways *Design Database. 2. Patterning: *Patternmaking *Grading *Marking 3. Knit Programming: *Knit CAD *Auto Software *Visual Shaping 4. Virtual Sampling: *Yarn Design *Simulation *Mapping *3D Virtual Sample 5. Recently Institution of Compliance Professionals (ICP), organizer of the carnival, announced the details of the carnival in a press conference, which will be held at International Convention Center Bashundhara (ICCB) on April 20, 2018. Shaila Ashraf, spokesman of ICP and convener of the carnival organizing committee, Mr. Abdul Alim, Editor and Publisher of RMG Times, co-organizing partner of the carnival, Mr. Lutful Kabir, Senior CSR consultant, Sumaya Rashid, Country Director-SR Asia and other top management from the co-organizing partners were present in the press conference. The convener of the carnival organizing committee Shaila Ashraf informed, “Our RMG export journey started with worth $12000 only, but now we are the second highest apparel exporting country in the world. Our current clothing exports exceeded $ 26 billion by dreaming 50 billion by 2021. In spite of moving slowly, many more products are being exported including leather, leather goods, ceramics and medicines. This export earning is helping Bangladesh stand up self-importantly. At the same time, it encourages us to dream of becoming a developed nation by 2041”. “For ensuring compliance in all sectors and producing timely quality products we need to walk hand on hand for the growing

progress of all export-oriented industries, including country’s garment industry. To sustain our development, we need to ensure justice, safe and healthy work-environment for labor and workers. Thousands of employees and workers are working to make Bangladesh’s export-oriented industrial sector sustainable in conformity with national and international laws and principles,” she added. She also said, “Though the compliance and human resource department of every organization are playing responsible role to operate factory in good order, there is no adequate system to develop these professionals or to provide regular training for their skill development. For the sake of this deficit and complement the national interest, “Institute of Compliance Professionals (ICP)”is instigated as a brainchild of some dreamers and patriots. To make this Institute as a strong institution, initiative has been taken to organize “1st National Compliance Carnival 2018”, the biggest festival of this time with compliance professionals”. She further stated, “Determining the role of compliance professionals for achieving $ 50 billion in the apparel export by 2021 and increasing awareness on achieving Sustainable

Development Goals (SDGs) including women empowerment, tackling the challenges of tomorrow through the exchange of experience of policy-makers, business and compliance professionals the National Compliance Carnival is being organized by ICP to create a strong platform by bridging a gap among compliance professionals. If the planned arrangements are completed, the shroud of making skilled and meritorious professionals in our country will be unveiled which will assist in achieving well-aimed goals by reducing the dependency on foreign experts in the domestic industry”. Organizers said that anybody from any sector working in human resource, compliance and CSR department can participate in the carnival.
