FUTURE PARK OF LAS TERESITAS BEACH COULD BE APPROVED IN THREE MONTHS
S
ANTA Cruz city council has preliminary approved the Special Plan of Las Teresitas.
The document, which will now pass a new period of public information of 45 days, could be definitively approved within a period of three months. “This means one more step has been taken towards the culmination of a project that will allow the complete regeneration of this part of the Santa Cruz coast,” said a council spokesman. The document will now be published in the Official Gazette in a hearing process to the administrations concerned for a period of 45 days. The third deputy mayor and councillor, Carlos Garcinuño, explained that the Special Plan has followed a process of exquisite technical processing, in the opinion of the councillors themselves, “and is perfectly worked from all points of view.”
According to the calculations of the councillor and if there are no inconveniences in the information process that will now be opened, the document can be approved
definitively within three months, “a previous step to elaborate the urbanisation project and commissioning of the work “. The Special Plan of
Management of the Beach Front of Las Teresitas contemplates the realisation in this area of the municipality of an urban park, new and modern parking spaces and the
integral updating of the road network. The beach front will have a large system of public endowments, starting from an urban park and sporting
equipment directly related to the beach itself. This park will occupy an area of approximately 37,000 m2. It is intended to provide the coastal edge with a free space of high environmental and landscape quality, which is functional and compatible with the other intended uses. The main criterion has been to link it to the maximum with the beach, so that they can form a single common space. There will be a coastal walk and urban park of remarkable connectivity, continuity and relationship with the beach. For this purpose it has been chosen to reconfigure the current access road to Las Teresitas, withdrawing it to the north, as close as possible to the slope, but without affecting it. The future park of Las Teresitas will host specific milestones or activities along its entire length. The document has been debated with citizen groups and sectoral organisations of the city since its presentation in August of last year.
“Come to Santa Cruz” to have different themes each month
S
ANTA Cruz is hailing the success of its Christmas campaign, saying it was the best for years with an increase in sales of eight per cent.
The festive celebrations came to a close with the first Sunday opening of 2017,
coinciding with the first weekend of the general sales. The Mayor, Jose Manuel
Bermudez said the weekend also saw around 5,000 cruise passengers pass through the city, “which has also multiplied the economic possibilities of our shops, bars and restaurants.” “Come to Santa Cruz has put the finishing touches on a holiday campaign especially booming in the capital, the best of the last five years, in which we have seen thousands and thousands of people enjoying all our attractions,” said the mayor, who stressed that “the city will continue with initiatives that allow us to maintain or create employment.” The ninth deputy mayor and councillor for economic promotion of the City Council, Alfonso Cabello, highlighted
the magnificent results of public-private collaboration in the commercial and economic dynamism of the capital of Tenerife, “which sets the path for us to advance projects that allow us to continue creating wealth and generating jobs “. He said the commercial sector was especially satisfied
with the results obtained during the campaign of Christmas and the Kings, with an increase of sales of eight per cent, and that in the period of sales, an average expenditure per person of 90 euros is expected . In relation to “Come to Santa Cruz”, he said the next objective of the City Council was to
extend its influence to the population of the north and south of the Island, and not only to that of the metropolitan area. In addition this year each edition of the initiative will be held around a specific theme and the next will be on the occasion of Carnival.
