Welcome to Tudor Grange Academy Sixth Form The ethos of the sixth form is built around a set of core values: • Meeting the needs of every student • Quality in all that we do • Raising horizons • Blending tradition and innovation • The whole is greater than the parts • Inclusive and collaborative Our aim for post 16 education is to build on the outstanding achievements of Tudor Grange Academy at KS4 by providing continuity of study for students and ensuring that post 16 provision achieves high student retention rates, excellent academic results and an excellent record of entry to universities. The sixth’s form key mission is to be the learning provider of choice, by offering a range of courses and programmes of study in a school environment, enabling its students the opportunity to progress to more advanced or higher education, training or employment. The sixth form will set out to achieve its mission by working in partnership. Links with partners will be invested to develop work experience and work placements, and provide further opportunities for students. The high quality and relevant curriculum will offer a range of academic courses with some vocational pathways that are fully inclusive and learner centred.

Courses Post 16 study offers young people the opportunity to focus on subjects that they are passionate about. We offer a wide range of A’ level courses because we know that our students have a wide range of interests and aspirations. All our courses can be combined so that each student leaves with a set of qualifications and skills that will help them to realise their individual ambitions. To calculate your average point score (APS) add your eight highest grades together including English and mathematics and divide by eight.

Extended Project A key aspect of the post 16 curriculum offer is the Extended Project, equivalent to one AS level. This is offered as an optional choice as part of the enrichment curriculum. The course will ensure students develop and improve their own learning and performance as critical, reflective and independent learners. Within the course there will be opportunity for students to take part in exciting and rewarding projects such as mentoring younger students or carrying out voluntary work. Many students develop their own project ideas based on their personal interests.
Enrichment In addition to the standard learning programme, students will participate in a range of enrichment activities and some of these will include

Hosting events for residents of local care homes

Acting as coaches for younger students
•
Supporting lessons in local primary schools
•
Supporting as teachers/associate tutors at Tudor Grange
•
Funding and completing a trek e.g. Nepal Everest Base Camp
•
A paired reading programme, developing the literacy of younger students
•
Peer mentoring
•
Post 16 Executive Board whose trustees work together with staff to develop and improve all aspects of academy life
•
The opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme
•
Encouragement and support to engage in work experience placements
Student Support Students will be assigned a personal tutor who will help and support them during their time in the sixth form. This will provide both academic guidance and pastoral care to enable them to complete their programme of study successfully. Specific tailored guidance will be given to those who wish to apply to university.
Financial Assistance Financial assistance is available to post-16 students through the Student’s Bursary Scheme, depending on household income. Students will be provided full details of the Student’s Bursary scheme when enrolling.
Care and Guidance Students with specific and specialist needs as a result of learning difficulties will be given specific support on a one to one basis. Some students with particular learning difficulties may receive additional support in class.
Post 16 Executive Board A post 16 Executive Board is led by students who, democratically elected, are trustees, who lead and manage Academy developments in; Teaching and Learning, Curriculum Support and Intervention, Charities, Social Enterprise and Business, and Activities and Engagement.
Our innovative curriculum supports the development of individual gifts and talents and ensures we engage and inspire all our students.
