IMMIGRATION!

Family members of US citizens and permanent residents are eligible to be sponsored for permanent residence in the United States. Persons who have been granted permanent resident status in the United States are given a Green Card as proof of their status. There are several ways to get a green card, the most common one being through family sponsorship. Family Based Green Card A US citizen's spouse, unmarried children under the age of 21, and parents are referred to as "Immediate Relatives". The other relatives of US citizens unmarried children over the age of 21, married children of any age and siblings (when the US citizen sponsor is above the age of 21) all fall under what is referred to as the "family preference category".

Getting a green card as an immediate family member is one of the simplest ways since the process involved is straightforward and less time consuming. As soon as a petition by the US citizen sponsor made on Form I-130 with the USCIS is approved, a visa number is available and the beneficiary can apply for a green card. Persons in the preference categories have to wait for a visa number to become available, which happens only when their priority date becomes current. The priority date is the date on which the sponsor filed the petition for family green card. The status of the priority date can be checked on the visa bulletin that is issued monthly by the Department of State. http://www.us-immigration.com/ Get-Green-Card-ThroughFamily-Member.jsp

IMMIGRANTS BRING THEIR FOOD

Often times, immigrants like to bring their food with them into the United States. Not only does it smell good, but it tastes good too. For example, Mexicans brought Mexican food with them. This includes tacos, burritos, and chips and salsa. The French brought french fries. Italians brought pizza and pasta. Chinese people brought pork fried rice and soy sauce. -AJ LaPanta AMERICANS CHANGE FOOD

America has adapted these foods, and changed them into our own variations. For example, the Italians do not fry their food. Americans, however, fry pizza, which is known as deep dish

pizza and is a delegacy here in America. The United States has uses many variations of world food and adds our own kind of touch to each one of them.

-Ann Hinrichs MCDONALDS VS BURGER KING

Burger King is often recognized for its outstanding hamburgers. Lately, however, McDonalds has vastly improved its burgers so that it is nearly equal with the Whopper of Burger King. McDonalds holds the clear edge in the french fry department, as they have the perfect amount of crispiness and saltiness. -AJ LaPanta

Historical Problems with Immigration

Americans Prejudice Against Gangs Type to enterImmigrants text Immigration come to Many immigrants would America and can not find a come to America and well paying jobs so they take jobs that paid less than may get into drugs and other people would. They form gangs on the streets in would do this because they America. The violence is really wanted to make horrific and leads to broken money. They would not join families and hearts. the unions that Americans -Ann Hinrichs had formed and would undercut their wages. -AJ LaPanta

Broken Families Immigrants come to America usually by themselves and leave behind their families. When leaving for America, they assure them they will send money, but in reality it never happens. The families back in the native country are left without food and part of their family. -Ann Hinrichs
