Hull Truck Theatre, Henley College, The Gurkha Museum - all have different goals, budgets and creative challenges. Hull Truck Theatre

Hull Truck Theatre is a pioneering theatre with a unique Northern Voice, locally rooted, global in outlook, inspiring artists, audiences and communities to reach their greatest potential.

As agency we have worked with the venue for over 10 years on all areas of their marketing from show creatives, fundraising campaigns and seasonal brochures.

The Campaign

In 2022 Hull Theatre celebrated a landmark 50th year anniversary since the company was formed. Due to the impact of the pandemic, they asked us to support them a public fundraising campaign for the Future 50.

They came to us to help them create a campaign which had a youthful, celebratory feel that wanted to lift the spirit of its target audience. The visual design needed to work as a campaign on its own, but could also be incorporated into show artwork and used alongside visuals for other projects produced by partner organisations.

We created brand guidelines for the sub brand and then created a large tool box of assets for them from brochures and posters to social assets in all sizes.

Luton Culture

The reopening of Luton’s premier arts centre marked the first stage in a dynamic multi-millionpound cultural regeneration project to establish the UK’s best-connected ‘creative cluster’ in the towns historic Hat district.

When Luton Art centre first made contact with us they wanted a design agency to generate ideas, be distinctively different and to ensure the art centre had a competitive advantage on the opening night.

We established the Hat Factory Arts Centre as a key part of the district, drive footfall to the centre’s opening weekend that would start to demonstrate the new social spaces & facilities. We listened to what they wanted, visited the new art centre, and found a solution to make it better and bigger for the launch of their 6-year project.

Ports Fest

Ports Fest is an award–winning festival that has been providing cultural experiences in the City of Portsmouth for over 20 years, engaging with multiple audiences in Portsmouth and surrounding areas. The ambitious programme tries to respond to the City’s Identity as a commuter belt, sea city and area of cultural history.

TGDH have worked with the festival for many years and in 2020 the festival changed its name from ‘Portsmouth Festivities’ to ‘Ports Fest’.

Together we worked with the marketing team to develop a new logo and identity that was used across all of their marketing platforms.

A bold ‘eye motif’, tipped on its side to reveal a ‘P’ letterform – connotations, too, of speech marks and musical notes.

Campaign Advertising*

Strong black and white photography featuring double exposure techniques merge Portsmouth’s iconic landmarks and locations with bold, strong portraits which are representative of the festivals offerings; dance, spoken word, music, art and more.

The designs were a stark contrast to the other offerings across the city at the time, really standing out and elevating the 10 day event.
