The Roxy Theater’s success didn’t last. When the war ended, the military left and the crowds dwindled. The theater hung on but slowly lost its luster. Hurricane Eva damaged it in 1982. It was repaired and kept going but Hurricane Iniki struck in 1992 and that was the end of the Roxy’s movie magic. But for 53 years, the theater served Kapaa well. It was good to the Fernandez family.
