Edge to Edge This will be my 4th solo exhibition with Thackeray Gallery, and represents a continuation of my fascination with the land and sea at our remote edges of the UK and also now New Zealand. Getting caught up in lockdown in New Zealand visiting my sister for Christmas 2019 was a blessing in disguise, and being granted an extension to my visa allowed me to spend my time wisely travelling, and painting in my make shift studio, courtesy of my Sister’s garage. I had with me my collection of painting knives, and by buying equipment and materials in New Zealand, I was able to create a large body of work. Some of these I left in New Zealand, and the smaller paintings, I brought back in a suitcase, packed like Russian dolls. Returning to UK in September 2020, I have since been concentrating during the winter months painting from source material and memory, the larger and medium size paintings in this show are the result of this period of reflection. In contrast in 2021, with the arrival of spring in the UK, I was once again able to venture out and spent time absorbing and painting the wild landscapes of the far north of Scotland, Orkney and beyond. An exciting and I hope uplifting collection, to blow away the cobwebs and bring in some much needed joy and light for this coming January.
