Makkasan is a part of Bangkok which has a large area and a high average of people residents. There are os poverty issues that need to develop strategies focusing on economic and community issues. Which makes them isolated.
Area 479 Rai in the Makkasan area under the supervision of the State Railway of Thailand which is considered the last large green area of Bangkok.

Usually, the path of the sun in our country begins to detour from the east to the south and sets in the west. So the south and west are the hottest directions of the day. This will be the case for 8-9 months a year. The east receiving sunlight in the morning to noon, The sunlight itself is weak in this direction. North will receive the least sunlight. So these two directions will be suitable for the activity program area which users will not be needing a lot of high temperatures.

Site Analysis The site location is on located left side of Makkasan near the airport link and Asoke Dindaeng rode, very easy to access from both cars and walk. Also on the North and West, the site is surrounded by green areas.

Our focuses would be on working people then students because the surrounding is full of business places and also near University. In addition, the location is in the center of the city where it is easy to get access. Our main goal is to create a civic center for knowledge in which people of all ages can use the space. Even Though, the user target focuses on adults and students. According to our research, the elderly group considered will play a role in the future. Therefore, the program arrangement must take into account the variety of application

Our keyword in our project is ‘ Timepass slowly’ which we wanted the user to linger in this building slowly, to create an atmosphere that contrasts with the outside, the life of urban people that is very fast and busy. The purpose of this is to help people to perceive surroundings and sometimes, play an important role which leading connection between people to people and people to the environment. By using the perception of this space. By using the keyword ‘ Time passes slowly’ with unique Thai culture by using the word Tender to relate with each other.
The design of civic center, we use Thai pediment of houses to apply and support our idea. The level of the gable can lead to the meaning of slowness from the base of the gable up to the top point and also can pull the Thai identity out clearly. So we choose 2 types of gable houses to adapt and apply in the design civic center.
Slowness meaning in our design
In our perspective, slowness means an increase in the usage time of space which space will give out the lingering atmosphere which creates slowness. Both the activity and the surroundings affect time, such as ongoing activities within a slow movement be able to see fast movement activities from outside.

This is an investigation of sun shading throughout the year in the Makkasan area is helps us to arrange the position of the outdoor area. Which will help to provide shade for the user and a suitable program in each space. According form the diagram of sun shading: The area at the center suit for creating A garden because the sunlight can shine at this position The back building on the west side suit For outdoor parking lot

Due to the road of the urban city which is very busy, the design of the landscape is to make this movement flow inside from fast movement to slow down the movement before entering the building. The design also considers creating the flow that people can enter easily by leading the access of the existing site circulation of bus stops, Airport rail link and sky walk way for people to flow in the building. Also The flowness from the site leads circulation into each program. On the site plan, it shows the different main entrances directly lead to their interest. As well as the site itself had a lot of greens, so we considered the importance of the green area as well, to keep the tree as much as possible.the landscape that connects the building itself gives flowness of the space and peaceful environment for the user.

Zoning Diagram
From the diagram, we connected each zone by using a sequence of slowness in each program. Some of the zones always with active movement can be the comparison of fast and slow in activity. Some of the zones that use high concentration, for example, the library, must be considered to be separate and far in eye view from the active space. Flow or active program would be starting from the side into the center. therefore, the center would be the space that people will take the most time. ( use tactic of the repetitive lingering way with the slow active program.)

On the 7th floor is the general stack and reading this area would be a relaxing zone where users and get a book and sit and read in this area. The 6th floor would be general stack and reading area which in this area would be a stack of the book for people to find and choose the right one and walk up to the 7th floor. The 5th floor is more in a private zone for the staff of the library. On the 4th floor in the main building from community center leading to public library welcoming.
The 3rd-floor area occurs in retail and community this zone is connected with an open corridor which there is an area that leads to the rooftop garden.
On the 2nd floor would be a retail area, community center, and Co-working space. Also, people can use the entrance from the front to this zone.
The Ground floor, there is 3 main zone which is Retail area, Daycare Center, and Commercial area. In Addition, daycare is connected to Playground which is also in the landscape area for children to be near nature.
The program on the Basement floor is indoor parking and Support & mechanical, to be far from the user’s sight.

Structural Design This architecture uses a steel structure because of its lightweight, the strength of the structure that fits an extra-large building, easy to install and speed in construction help reducing the cost of the construction, fire resistance, moisture due to our site being surrounded by trees, and weather resistance. Due to the shape of the building according to the concept design make Structural design concept a little different than usual by creativity application.
