Unlocking Opportunities in Sustainable Energy
26th - 27th February 2025 | London, UK

Welcome to Bankable Energies 2025. Over the next two days, we will bring together some of the most influential voices in energy, finance, and policy to tackle the pressing challenges facing the industry. As we gather at this important event, we are reminded that the energy transition is not merely an ambition—it’s an urgent reality that demands collective action, pragmatic solutions, and above all, investment.
We are at a pivotal moment. The latest Net Zero Jeopardy Report II, which we are releasing at this conference, reveals a sharp decline in industry confidence in climate goals. Just 16% of energy executives now believe net zero by 2050 is achievable—down from 45% last year. The reasons are clear: policy instability, inconsistent regulation, and a weak investment climate continue to block progress. If left unaddressed, these barriers could derail the transition entirely.
But this event is not about echoing concerns—it’s about addressing them. Bankable Energies 2025 is structured to go beyond discussion by offering a platform for actionable strategies. Across our sessions, we will explore the role of investment in unlocking clean energy projects, the critical importance of bankability, and the policy shifts required to create a more stable, investable environment.
One of the central themes this year is the growing gap between ambition and execution. Governments worldwide have set ambitious targets, but our industry knows that targets alone do not build infrastructure. The UK’s
offshore wind success, for example, is built on investment decisions made a decade ago. If we fail to act decisively now, we will face an energy shortfall in the years ahead. This is why this event is crucial—bringing together those who can drive projects forward by ensuring they are financially and commercially viable.
We are honoured to welcome Joanna Drake, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission, who will deliver the opening keynote. She will provide vital insights into how EU policy and funding mechanisms can accelerate the deployment of clean energy projects. Her perspective will be complemented by an impressive lineup of speakers from across the energy and finance sectors. Together, they bring expertise on how to unlock investment at scale.
Over the next two days, we will hear from developers, investors, policymakers, and technology providers on what needs to change to get projects to Final Investment Decision (FID) faster. We will discuss the hurdles faced by supply chain companies, the complexities of regulatory frameworks, and the financial levers needed to drive large-scale energy transition projects forward.
This is not just another conference. It is a meeting of private and public decision-makers who understand that time is running out. The energy sector cannot afford to wait for perfect conditions—we need to create them.
Let’s get to work.
