– a rich online resource for members
In 2000 the EIC launched our first global project tracking database. EICDataStream was developed specifically to help member companies identify business opportunities in the energy industries and win supplier contracts. Over the last three years, we’ve vastly improved the quality of EICDataStream’s data and the way that data is presented. We’ve also designed the interface for mobiles and tablets, so it’s much easier to use when you’re not at your desk. This issue of the Monthly News takes you through all the excellent new features and explains how you can use them to generate and convert leads. If you’re planning to be at Offshore Europe, please drop by our stand for a chat and a demo of the latest version, which will be available from 8 September.

How has EICDataStream improved? • Member feedback Since the last version of EICDataStream was launched, we’ve received valuable comments and suggestions on how to make it better. We listened to that feedback and have worked hard to enhance the look, feel and functionality of our database.
• New project and company data The work we’ve done to review, update and improve the data on each project, contract and company has created one of the best project tracking databases in the industry.
• Advanced searches Users can still search by projects, but we’ve added another search method: contract award search. Just select the start and end date, geographical location, specific contractor, industry sector and contract type to get a full list of contract awards. Our project search facility is more interactive, has all of the familiar filters and now allows you to search across multiple sectors. Sharing search results has never been easier too. By clicking on the actions button and choosing share you can email your search to a colleague.
• Project watches (formerly favourite lists)
• Useful dashboard
We’ve replaced our favourite lists with project watches, which means you can tag projects and get notified when a project is updated. This works in a similar way to the old favourite lists, but is more user-friendly and you can share a watched project in one simple click. You can also modify a watch by adding and removing projects, and by turning the watch notification off or on.
The dashboard, which is the first page you see when you log in, lets you navigate quickly to specific areas of the database. Users can customise their dashboard by choosing the content you want to see and how it’s laid out on screen. This includes: projects being watched, recently awarded contracts and recently added projects.
All projects in your favourites list can be easily transferred over to selected project watches. But we also have a new dynamic project watches feature, which automatically adds projects for you so you don’t have to manually update a list. The system emails you when new projects come in and automatically removes archived projects from your list.

• Project and member notes We set ourselves the huge task of reclassifying every project note in EICDataStream based on its content. This is now complete and means you can focus on the notes most relevant to you, whether they’re about contracting, development or finance.
We’ve also put member notes (which can only be seen by users in the same company) with project notes, so you can view your colleagues’ comments in one place. Creating, editing and deleting notes is also quick to do.
• Reports and analysis If you need to analyse any data, you can export it to programmes like Microsoft Excel and create tables, graphs and charts. Download datasets of detailed project information and sector workbooks too. Sector workbooks are a great way to get custom charts on different areas. These range from investment activity by country to real-time league tables of operators’ capital expenditure for each industry sector. www.the-eic.com

User guide and support
• Member engagement and testing In September 2014 we gave selected users the opportunity to try out our early version of EICDataStream while it was still being developed. The initial feedback was very positive and has helped us to focus on improving features that members value.
To find out more about using the database, visit: eicdatastream.the-eic.com/userguide If you have a query or feedback for us, contact: First-line Application Support Rebecca Apanisile rebecca.apanisile@the-eic.com
Since then, we’ve extended the programme to over 500 users in 172 companies, and we’ve continued to receive praise for the improvements we’ve made. Once EICDataStream launches in September, our work won’t stop there. We plan to build on the new features to support our members in an ever-changing industry.
For content related queries, contact: Neil Golding Head of Oil & Gas neil.golding@the-eic.com
Once EICDataStream is launched in September, we’ll automatically move members over to the new version.

Offshore Europe 2015 EIC to take 42 member companies to Offshore Europe 2015 as largest single exhibitor Offshore Europe has become the largest oil and gas event outside North America over the last 40 years, culminating in a record-breaking attendance of 63,000 at the 2013 event. Taking place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre in Europe’s energy capital, the event gives delegates access to major oil and gas operators, international delegations from frontier regions, senior procurement personnel from leading contractors, and over 1,500 exhibiting companies.
Permasense, exhibiting on stand C63, will be showcasing its recently launched ET210 asset integrity monitoring system, which is specifically designed for ease of installation in upstream environments. KOSO Kent Introl, recently awarded a contract to supply all control and choke valves to Statoil/Aker Solutions for one of the largest ever discoveries on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, the Johan Sverdrup offshore field, will be exhibiting its range of products from stand B63.
The EIC is, once again, hosting the largest pavilion at the show, proudly showing off 42 member companies in Hall 3 of the AECC. Exhibiting as part of the EIC group is so beneficial that stands sold out within weeks of being launched to EIC members.
The EIC pavilion will feature an upgraded stand design and a private lounge area, which is sponsored by Crowcon Detection Instruments, specialists in the development, manufacture, sale and support of flammable and toxic gas detection equipment.
Visitors to the EIC pavilion will be able to see at first hand some of the leading products and solutions the UK supply chain is offering to the offshore sector.
From the group lounge, EIC staff will be on hand to offer advice on the many ways that the organisation can help with business development activities. Representatives from all of the EIC regional overseas offices, membership, events, training and business information teams will be on hand to answer questions. If you are looking to enter or expand into new markets Terry Willis, Director (Middle East, Africa & CIS), Azman Nasir, Head of Asia Pacific, and Clarisse Rocha, Head of Americas will all be available for one-2-one appointments during the show. The EIC is also pleased to announce that the new version of EICDataStream will be unveiled during Offshore Europe. Members are invited to a launch event in the EIC lounge on Wednesday 9 September where they can watch live demonstrations and learn about the features and benefits of the new user-friendly system.
Exhibitors include Ellis Patents at stand C62, which will be unveiling its two-in-one cable guide clamp. Designed specifically to assist in the installation and subsequent restraint of high voltage (HV) cables, the cable guide clamp was initially developed for an offshore project for Siemens. Ellis’ in-house team then designed and manufactured a full range suitable for use with largediameter cables.
These include a contract award search facility, which also shows subcontracts that have been awarded, a customisable dashboard and the ability to share your saved searches with colleagues. A training programme for EIC members will be rolled out after the show which will involve a series of handbooks and roadshow events.
Bifold Group, supplier of a wide range of switching instruments, piping valves and pumps, is exhibiting on stand B60 and will be promoting its new 48-hour despatch service following its recent move to larger premises. The initiative means that Bifold now has the capacity to deliver products, configured and built to order within 48 hours. www.the-eic.com
