Regional update
This year so far has been both unique and exciting for the UK events team who
have continuously adapted to offer our members, and non-members, a relevant up-to-date series of industry

webinars to help maximise opportunities in the global energy industries. As we reached the end of summer, we focused our attention on Energy Storage on 18 August. Participants heard from DNV GL, Upside Energy and Storengy on their project activities, potential challenges faced during COVID-19, supply chain experiences and growing trends in the sector. There was a real sense of progress and a further push for renewable energy installations as they continue to provide flexibility and balanced services across the UK and Europe. Our regional committees are an integral part of how we operate and now more than ever they offer an insight into how we can better support our members and partners. Our southern committee met virtually in August to reconnect and draw upon our members experiences and key learnings during the COVID-19 crisis. We look forward to catching up with our regional UK committees and are eager to set a positive course for the remainder of 2020. Our final event in August was the Floating Offshore Wind webinar which attracted over 130 attendees and heard from a host of expert speakers. Our very own Lara Juergens provided an industry overview and was followed by Andronikos Kafas from Ocean Winds, a newly formed joint venture controlled in equal parts by EDP Renováveis and ENGIE. Further industry insights came from KBR, our supporting partner ONE and The Carbon Trust, who highlighted the importance of innovation to drive cost reduction, accelerate deployment and make processes safer. We were delighted to welcome Balmoral, Bridon Bekaert and GWEC as our digital supporters. Taking us into September we hosted An Audience with Petrofac which saw over 200 delegates log on to hear from EIC’s CEO Stuart Broadley, Nick Shorten, Managing Director Western Hemisphere and Craig McCartney, Director of Projects at Petrofac. They spoke at length about Petrofac’s heritage of service delivery and combining decades of engineering, construction and operations know-how with the latest digital technologies. The webinar ended with an insightful interactive panel session whereby attendees could direct any questions to Nick and Craig alongside offering vital insights on positioning to support a new era of efficiency and innovation for the UKCS. We would also like to thank ABB for supporting this webinar as a global digital supporter. September also saw the return of the Energy Exports Conference, or vEEC week as it became affectionately known due to this year seeing the event go virtual. The full global EIC team came together to host a series of webinars from world-wide speakers presenting on project updates and supply chain requirements. Representatives from Petronas, PDO, Repsol Sinopec, COSIA, KBR, Booth Welsh and many more joined our international delegations and exhibitors for a hectic but highly successful week of knowledge, business opportunities and virtual networking. We would like to thank everyone who supported this unique event. Special thanks go to the sponsors, Petrofac, Brainwave and Unit Birwelco, and the organising partners Aberdeen City Council, DIT, Oil & Gas Authority, OGUK, ONE, SDI, Scottish Enterprise and UK Export Finance. To finish this month’s events update we would like to thank those who have joined our online journey via EIC LIVE e-vents so far and hope you continue to do so as we strive to deliver more exciting webinars in the coming months. Thank you to all our global digital supporters who have embraced this marketing initiative, which provides companies with a cost-effective opportunity to promote their brand using our webinar platform, and continues to be a popular addition to our e-vents offering. This month we were delighted to welcome Balmoral, Bridon Bekaert, GWEC and ABB as our valued supporters.
In addition, and allowing us to expand our virtual offering further, we are able to provide bespoke hosting opportunities via the EIC online platform.
