ALL ABOUT THE Auction
A Party with a Purpose:
The Langley School 80th Anniversary Gala is a highlight of the school year and we are thrilled that the event will return to the Conrad Washington, DC, on Saturday, May 13. The evening includes cocktails, a seated dinner, silent and live auctions, a raffle, games, live music, dancing, and an after-party. In addition to raising funds to help make professional development opportunities for Langley’s incredible faculty and staff possible, the evening is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the company of other Langley parents, faculty, and staff. For more information about the event, visit our auction site at https://langleyschool.ejoinme.org/2023Auction.
Silent Auction: The silent auction includes a wide range of exciting items. The Greater Giving mobile/online bidding platform will be used for the silent auction, which also includes a “Super Silent” category of unique items. The “Super Silent” category will close after the other silent auction categories. Guests will bid using their smartphones or desktop computers. Bidding opens on Monday, May 8 and will close at the gala event on Saturday, May 13. You do not need to be present at the event on May 13 to participate in the silent/online auction.
Those already registered to attend the 80th Anniversary Gala will automatically receive a personalized URL for online/mobile bidding. For those who are not attending, but still wish to bid, you may register here: https:// langley2023.ggo.bid/bidding/package-browse (click on the “Get Started” button).
Live Auction: The live auction will take place in person at the event on Saturday, May 13. Guests will be assigned a bid number and given a bid card at registration. The live auction will occur during the dinner, and Sherry Truhlar of Red Apple Auctions will be our auctioneer. Live auction items may be previewed in the auction catalog or on the online bidding platform.
Raise the Paddle: This highlight of the evening takes place during the live auction on Saturday, May 13 and is an opportunity for everyone to make a fully taxdeductible contribution in support of Langley’s outstanding faculty. Not able to attend the event? We hope you will consider making a contribution online or by mailing a check to the Development Office made payable to The Langley School.
Living Langley Experiences: Does your child want to be a Langley division head for the day? How about enjoying lunch with Mr. Green or a movie with their teachers? Or, parents, would you like to have your own parking spot on campus? These are all examples of the many unique Living Langley experiences that have been generously donated by The Langley School and our faculty/staff. Don’t miss out on these coveted once-ina-school-year experiences! See page 19 for a full list of offerings.
Raffle: This year’s event features a Bubbles and Baubles raffle for a beautiful Chanel crystal pearl CC long silver necklace. The winner will be drawn during the live auction, but does not need to be present to win. See page 5 for details on how to purchase raffle tickets.
Great
Gatherings:
Great Gatherings are a “great” way to enjoy a fun, low-key activity, outing, or event with Langley friends. “Buy a spot” for one or more Great Gathering events. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, May 8 at 9:00 a.m. via the mobile bidding platform. See page 11 for additional details.
Heads or Tails Game: At the gala event on May 13, guests will have the opportunity to buy chances to win our Stellar Wine Cellar, a collection of 24 bottles of wine donated by generous Langley families. See page 5 for details on how the game works.
