42nd Street captured the hearts of audiences worldwide from the very beginning and actually has its roots in a 1933 movie of the same name. The film, set during the Great Depression, spun a musical tale of hope, ambition, success, and aging gracefully. It was an instant hit.
The Broadway show, an enduring symbol of American musical theater, exploded onto the scene is 1980. It was directed and choreographed by the legendary Gower Champion who tragically passed away on the morning of the opening. Remarkably, the resilience of the cast and crew, combined with the timeless appeal of the music and the message, ensured that 42nd Street would thrive on Broadway and
With a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, music by Harry Warren, and lyrics by Al Dubin, the stage production remained faithful to the spirit of the original film while adding new energy and spectacle. It opened at the Winter Garden and immediately took Broadway by storm. The show won several Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Choreography, and Best Direction of a Musical. has been with us ever since. Audiences can’t seem to get enough of it.
Since its original Broadway success, 42nd Street joyed several successful revivals from London’s West End to regional theaters across the United States, delighting audiences with its infectious energy and dazzling song and dance numbers. Wheth er it’s seen by seasoned theatergoers (often tempted to sing along with the still-familiar songs) or first-time attendees, 42nd Street captivates with its timeless tale of ambition, perseverance, and the infectious magic of Broadway.
A testament to the enduring power of American musical theater, from its origins as a Hollywood film to a triumphant reign on Broadway and beyond, this beloved show has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape. LEONARD ALLEN (Julian Marsh) is a rising freshman at Syracuse University pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre. Leonard has grown up at The Naples Players, and he is enormously grateful for the many opportunities in these years. Some of his favorites: Peter and the Starcatcher (Black Stache), Clue: On Stage (Wadsworth), The Sound of Music (Rolf), Something Rotten! (Ensemble), and Rock of Ages (Ensemble).
ALEENA ARICO (Ensemble) is so excited to perform in 42nd Street Teen! She is a rising senior at the Community School of Naples. You may have most recently seen her as Brigitta Von Trapp in The Sound of Music or in the ensemble of A Christmas Carol: The Musical. She would like to thank Dawn, Charlie, and everyone who made this incredible show possible. She is so grateful for this amazing theatre and is honored to perform in the first teen show in the new theater!
JACK BOSLEY (Abner Dillon) is very excited for 42nd Street Teen. This is his 5th show at TNP and he is very happy to have another experience to grow as an actor. His last show at TNP was Godspell JR. Outside of theatre, he is also in the JROTC. His hobbies include hanging out with friends and napping!
BRAXTON CABRERA (Ensemble) is so excited to perform in the newly renovated Kizzie Theater, and is so incredibly honored to tell this classic and timeless story. He would like to thank Dawn, Charlie, and Grace for running this rehearsal process smoothly and professionally. He would also like to thank Jennifer Price for all her support and work that she has put into this educational program. WILLIAM CONDIT (Andy Lee) is a home-schooled freshman who is thrilled to be back in the spotlight for this production of 42nd Street Teen. Favorite theater credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame Teen, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, and most recently, 42nd Street. When not performing he can be found songwriting, reading, or bike riding. He is a 2-time Odyssey of the Mind World Champion, plays piano, and has taken improv lessons for years to sharpen his acting skills. He is grateful to the production staff for their support and for working day and night to make sure the show is a success. He hopes you enjoy the show!
THOMAS CURRIE
(Pat Denning/Ensemble) is an upcoming junior in high school. Previously, he performed in The Hunchback of Notre Dame Teen and Godspell JR. Thomas is very excited to be in 42nd Street Teen and is looking forward to working with this amazing team. CHRISTIAN DINSMORE
(Ensemble) is excited to participate in 42nd Street Teen! He was recently seen as “Andy Lee” in the adult production of 42nd Street at The Naples Players. He recently was asked to join the Teen production and is excited to do the show again from new perspectives! TNP credits include Jehan Frollo/Dance Captain in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Dance Captain in The Sound of Music, and Sky in Mamma Mia! Teen/Ensemble in Mamma Mia! He also worked as Assistant to the Choreographer for Hunchback Teen and Godspell JR. Christian is TNP’s Summer 2024 Education Intern and has spent his summer working at the theatre. He graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy as a Musical Theatre student, and now studies at New York University as he adores the performing arts. Enjoy the show!
VIVIENNE ENGELMANN
(Anytime Annie) is so excited to be in this production of 42nd Street Teen after being in the ensemble of the mainstage production! She has been a dancer all her life and has done theatre for the past 4 years. You may have seen her in 42nd Street, Mary Poppins, Something Rotten! Teen, and A Christmas Carol: The Musical and she was on the crew of The Sound of Music here at TNP. Her past roles include: Velma Kelly/Chicago, Ariel/Footloose, Medda/Newsies, and Ursula/The Little Mermaid. ALEXANDER GARCIARENA
(Ensemble) is an upcoming junior at Naples High, sharing his musical and theatrical talent wherever he goes. He has been part of several TNP and school productions and has loved each one. From the chaotic energy of Disney’s Descendants to the heart-tugging story of the The Hunchback of Notre Dame Teen, each one of his productions is nothing like the other, and 42nd Street Teen is bound to be no exception. AVERY ROSCHEK (Maggie) is happy to be back at The Naples Players! Some of her favorite credits include: Natasha in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 (Interlochen Ctr. for the Arts), Demeter in CATS (Interlochen Ctr. for the Arts), Ensemble in Mary Poppins (The Naples Payers), and Jan in Grease (Gulfshore Playhouse). Avery is a recent graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy and will be attending Emerson College in the fall where she will be majoring in Musical Theater. SADIE SCARDINO (Peggy Sawyer) is 18 years old and a recent Gulf Coast High graduate. She is so very excited to do her third TNP show. ARIANNA JOY SCHIPPER (Ensemble) is thrilled to be back at TNP since being in Annie Jr. in 2018. She has been training in vocals, acting, and performing for over 12 years and has received 17 awards from competing at Thespians. Some of her favorite credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Olive Ostrovsky, Gulfshore Playhouse); The Addams Family (Wednesday Addams, Village School); The Lightning Thief (Clarisse La Rue, Center for the Arts Bonita Springs) and most recently Puffs (Megan Jones, Gulfshore Playhouse); and The Music Man (Teen Ensemble, Barbara B. (Billy Lawlor) is a sophomore at Gulf Coast High School. When Aiden is not on the stage, he enjoys drumming and skimboarding. MALENA TUCKER (Dorothy Brock) is a junior attending First Baptist Academy and is thrilled to be playing Dorothy Brock in this production of 42nd Street Teen. Malena was most recently seen in FBA’s Hodel/Fiddler on the Roof and The Hunchback of Notre Dame Teen at The Naples Players. IVANA VIVAR (Ensemble) is very excited to be part of another show at The Naples Players. She is currently 17 years old and a rising senior at Gulf Coast High School. She is an officer in the Drama Club as the Event Coordinator. You are seeing her perform in her very first tap show. CATE WHITE (Ensemble) is excited to return to The Naples Players where she last performed as The Witch in Into the Woods JR. She has performed in more than 30 shows in Florida, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, including making her professional debut in 2019 at the Candlelight Dinner Theatre in Arden, DE. Favorite roles include Brigitta in The Sound of Music (TNP Main Stage), Mayzie in Seussical JR (TNP KidzAct), and Jana in the Holocaust drama A Child Shall, in which she won Best Young Actress of the Year at the historic Everett Theatre in Middletown, DE.

(Costume Designer) after relocating to Naples in 1999 with her husband Mark Vanagas, she was hired by TNP as the first Costume Shop Supervisor. Now entering her 23rd season, she will always be grateful for the opportunity to turn her avocation into a fulfilling, creative career. She is so thankful for the terrific volunteers that kept working in the WOS (way off stage) shop in our season away. She would also like to thank Mark Vanagas and JamieLynn Bucci for their creative help and Dayne Sabatos for his talents and organization, but mostly she is so grateful to Mary Anne McKerrow for being a terrific creative partner on this production and also taking on extra duties during Mollie’s maternity leave. It’s so nice to be back home.
GRACE CAUDILL (Stage Manager) is so excited to return to The Naples Players, but this time as an intern! While she is a Naples native, she currently attends the University of Central Florida, getting her BFA in Stage Management. Past credits at TNP include 42nd Street (ASM), Beauty and the Beast JR (Production Stage Manager), and Something Rotten! (Production Assistant). Some past UCF credits include Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Props Manager), Metamorphoses (ASM), and Go Like Saints (ASM). She is excited to continue to grow and learn within the amazing Naples Players community.
CHARLES FORNARA (Music Director) the Artistic Director of Music for TNP, has music directed over 180 productions, including, at TNP: The Marvelous Wonderettes, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Sound of Music, Something Rotten!, Mary Poppins, Gentleman’s Guide, The Wedding Singer, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Sister Act, The Rocky Horror Show, Catch Me If You Can, The Spitfire Grill, Les Misérables, All Shook Up, 42nd Street and many others, as well as over 20 teen productions for KidzAct. Also in Naples for TheatreZone, he has music directed nearly 40 shows including Rock of Ages, A Little Night Music, Bridges of Madison County, Aida, The Secret Garden, Legs Diamond, Sweet Smell of Success, Grand Hotel, Little Women and Hair. Originally from Providence, RI, Chas conducted Jim Steinman and Roman Polanski’s Dance of the Vampires in Stuttgart, and has taught and coached singers all over the US and Germany, now offering private lessons here in Naples. A proud member of Actors’ Equity, he has appeared in almost 100 musicals, operas, and concerts, including several appearances here in Naples with TheatreZone, most recently as the title role in Sweeney Todd. Much love to his beautiful wife, Dawn, and a big thank you to this wonderful orchestra!
DAWN LEBRECHT FORNARA (Director/ Choreographer) the Artistic Director of Dance for TNP, is a native of New York and has served as director and choreographer for TNP’s The Marvelous Wonderettes, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Sound of Music, Something Rotten!, Mary Poppins, The Wedding Singer, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Sister Act, The Rocky Horror Show, Catch Me If You Can, Legally Blonde, The Spitfire Gril l and 42nd Street, among others, and with KidzAct for many productions, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Hairspray, Disney’s Camp Rock, Les Misérables and CATS. She has choreographed many shows for TNP, including A Christmas Carol, Gentleman’s Guide, All Shook Up, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Cabaret, and, as a performer, she has been seen in the National Tours of 42nd Street, Seussical the Musical, Anything Goes and Grease. A proud member of Actors’ Equity, she has been seen here in Naples in TheatreZone’s Sweeney Todd (Beggar Woman), Jekyll & Hyde (Lucy), Stepping Out with Donna McKechnie, Legs Diamond (Kiki) and Hair, among others. Other recent roles include Sheila (A Chorus Line), Sally Bowles, Velma Kelly, Bombalurina (Cats), and Ulla (The Producers). Love to husband Chas and her family.
AMY HUGHES (Props Director) is excited to be propping such an amazing production. Amy is mostly known for her credits on stage in shows such as The Music Man as Marian and Chicago as Mona. She is so excited to step into the role of a lifetime as the properties director for The Naples Players and looks forward to an amazingly creative future.
CHRISTIAN JIMENEZ (Assistant Stage Manager) is an upcoming senior at Gulf Coast High School. 42nd Street Teen is his first production at TNP, but some productions he has worked on in the past for his school include (ASM) The Little Mermaid JR, All Shook Up, and Chicago. He has also worked on Shrek the Musical and Hairspray as the TSM. He is super grateful to be a part of SLC, and can’t wait to see what’s next to come with The Naples Players!
MARY ANNE McKERROW (Costume Designer) has been costuming and teaching the young actors of TNP’s KidzAct program since 2005. As a performer for TNP, she was last seen in the Extravaganza to mark the opening of the newly renovated theater. Favorite TNP roles include Donna/Mamma Mia!, Momma Rose/Gypsy, Mame/Mame, and Madame Thenardier/Les Misérables. Last year she debuted at The Laboratory Theater in Ft. Myers as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd
ALEX MINARIK (Assistant to the Choreographer) is excited to be assisting on this production! You may have recently seen him as Billy Lawlor in the mainstage production of 42nd Street or as Matt in The Fantasticks! He hopes you enjoy all the hard work these kids have put in to perform this show!
CHRIS RILEY (Lighting Designer) is the Director of Lighting and is excited to be finishing out his first season with The Naples Players. He was the lighting intern for TNP during the 2018-2019 season, where he designed shows including Annie JR, Guys and Dolls, and Lost in Yonkers. Since returning to The Naples Players, he’s worked on shows like The Marvelous Wonderettes, The Fantasticks!, and Harvey. He’s so happy to once again be on the team, and can’t wait to work on many more shows.

MICHAEL SANTOS (Scenic Designer) has been working in The Naples Players’ Scene Shop for over 20 years now. Originally from Upstate New York, where he received his BFA in Visual Communications. Favorite scenic designs include Guys and Dolls, The Wedding Singer, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame for TNP; and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Matilda JR, and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr for KidzAct. ANNA TIPTON (Assistant Stage Manager) was born and raised in Northwest Indiana and recently moved to Naples. She’s thrilled to be part of the TNP family and helping on this production of 42nd Street Teen, and she’s grateful to her family for their love and support.

(Sound Designer) holds a BFA in Theatre: Design & Technical Production and Theatre: Stage Management from Western Michigan University. Originally hailing from Michigan, he has found a home at The Naples Players here in Florida, where he has been an integral part of the team since 2013. Throughout his tenure with TNP, Brad has contributed his expertise to numerous productions, witnessing the remarkable growth of TNP over the years. His enthusiasm lies in fostering even more opportunities for involvement as TNP continues to evolve in its new facility.
JASON WAGAMAN (Scenic Designer) graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology. He is entering his third season here at TNP as the Technical Director. He couldn’t be more joyful to work alongside Mike Santos and Amy Hughes in the scene shop. Jason can not wait to welcome all of you to the new and improved shop. He would like to thank everyone at the theatre for making him feel like TNP and Naples is his home.
CARTER ZGONINA (Assistant Stage Manager) is a recent graduate from Naples High attending George Washington University in the fall and working on his first Naples Players Teen production. He is super excited and hopes everyone enjoys the show!
