A NOTE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Our diverse season showcases exceptional artistry along with stories of humanity through the lens of performing arts. I cannot wait for you to enjoy our 2018-19 season with us! What’s at the top of my list of unmissable shows? There are so many to choose from! Returning to her home town, Shoshana Bean’s impressive and strong vocals open our season, followed by Puddles, the 6’8” sad clown with a golden voice who sings directly from his heart. We’ll all sing together at our annual sing-along movie The Greatest Showman, which is full of uplifting, joyful, and memorable music. If you love internationally acclaimed musicals as much as I do, you have to save the date for Wizard of Oz, and the still-onBroadway Tony-award-winner Kinky Boots! We’re bringing you plenty of laughter with main stage stand-up comedy throughout the season. Families will flip over the Golden Dragon Acrobats, and we have incredibly talented master musicians coming to the region, including Keb’ Mo’, Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy, and Taimane Gardner. The ‘Sad Clown with the Golden Voice’ is here with a suitcase full of all new emotional anthems and plenty of Kleenex! As with any Pity Party performance, it’s not all sadness and longing. Puddles’ set is peppered with a brilliant sense of the absurd, mixing humor with awkward, yet tender moments. SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY COMPETITION THURSDAY, NOV 15 AT 7:30 pm Laugh your night away with the 39th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition! For one night only, Olympia will play host to the semi-finalists who have survived the preliminary rounds as they face off in an epic skirmish of punch lines and comedic timing. These talented comedians have 10 minutes to make you laugh, and hopefully earn a spot in the final rounds of this four-week competition. Your laughs help the judges pick the funniest of the bunch, so don’t hold back!

CONVERSATIONS WITH RICHARD LOUV SATURDAY, JAN 26 AT 7:30 pm The Pacific Education institute invites you to get up close and personal with the New York Times Bestselling Author of Last Child in the Woods and The Nature Principal, Richard Louv. Creator of the term “nature-deficit disorder,” Louv will speak to the importance of nature for the health and wellbeing of both our children and our world. He will also be available for questions and to sign his books.

Tickets: $25 Prior to the public discussion Richard Louv will lead an intimate and interactive workshop at 3:30 pm. The workshop will focus on adults interested in engaging children in community-based outdoor learning, using ideas and activities from his book Vitamin N: The Essential Guide to a Nature-Rich Life. SILENT MOVIE SERIES

Curated by the incomparable Dennis James, the Center’s Silent Movie Series brings to life the golden age of cinema. A treat for the eyes and ears, each movie shines with live music played on an Olympia treasure from 1924, the Mighty Andy Crow Wurlitzer Organ.

CLASH OF THE WOLVES SUNDAY, FEB 17 AT 2:00 pm

This 1925 Western is one of only two surviving silent features starring Rin-Tin-Tin! The plot centers on our dog hero as he bravely protects a prospector from scheming villains. Keep your eyes open for the stunning vistas of what later became Joshua Tree National Park. Features a new score that Mr. James prepared for a newly restored print of the film in 2017.

The Center goes to the dogs with an all-comedy triple feature: Charley Chase’s hilarious Dog Shy (1926), Charlie Chaplin’s equally wonderful A Dog’s Life (1918), and the Our Gang comedy Dog Heaven (1927), starring Pete the Pup. Featuring dog-themed organ solo pieces to really get your tail wagging!

A three-time recipient of the Earshot’s Golden Ear Award his original pieces have been featured on many TV shows, including “The West Wing,” “The Wire,” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

Trained as a natural science illustrator, Ennis uses his technical eye to render micro-style drawings on vellum that pay homage to great sci-fi artists and classic works of art while serving as a parody of pop culture. Ennis’ work has been featured in Heavy Metal Magazine and LA’s Bruce Lurie Gallery, and he has worked with paramount Pictures, Coca-Cola, and Regal Cinemas.

Entertainment Explosion, founded in 2006, is a group of performers ages 50-90. Besides performing in smaller shows throughout the year, for the past 13 seasons we have hosted A Really Big Shoe at the Washington Center. EDUCATION Anacker Scholarship for the Arts The Anacker scholarship is presented to a graduating high school senior in Thurston County intending to pursue a career in the arts. Student-only educational performances Introducing students to live performances and exceptional arts professionals through in-school workshops, performances, and student matinees.

ARTS EXPOSURE Prelude series This series provides an opportunity for local musicians to showcase their talent. This series offers groups the chance to perform in our lobby before main stage shows or art gallery receptions. Ideally suited for musical groups of up to five members.

The Center Gallery The Washington Center gallery has been proud host to many artists and artistâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s guilds since its inception! It is open to the public by appointment, or to ticketed patrons one hour prior to main stage events.

CANCELLATIONS AND CHANGES

All events at the Washington Center and Minnaert Center are subject to change or cancellation without notice. In the unlikely event of such a change or cancellation, we will attempt to contact you using the contact information you provided at the time of purchase.

SEATING PRIORITY

Subscription seating priority is based on three key factors: Subscriber Type — Same Seat Subscribers are seated first, followed by Renewing Subscribers, followed by New Subscribers. FRIENDS Level — FRIENDS are seated by membership level. Donors at the Benefactor level are seated first, followed by Producers, Presenters, Spotlight, Actors, Patrons, and Contributors. Subscription Date — The sooner you turn in your subscription form, the sooner you will be seated.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: All At Once — This option is for patrons who want to pay for their entire order at once. We accept cash, check, or credit card, and the payment will be processed 2 to 5 business days after we receive your order. 2 or 4 Installment Payment Plan — This affordable option allows you to pay for your order in two or four monthly payments. Initial payments will be charged when the subscription is received, and subsequent payments will be charged on the 1st or 15th of each following month. • All guests age three and older must purchase a ticket. • All children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult at all times. • Please be respectful and courteous of your fellow theatergoers. Disruptive patrons may be asked to leave the theater at the discretion of the Front of House Manager. • Late arrivals will be seated at the discretion of the Front of House staff. The late seating policy is set by the Artist(s), their production personnel, and the Front of House Manager, and will vary for each performance. Please arrive on time for all productions. • Use of cell phones, cameras, or other electronic devices is strictly prohibited within the theater. Recording, videotaping or photography is prohibited without prior permission.

If somebody in your party has an accessibility need, please contact the Box Office prior to the event and we will arrange accommodations. During your visit, our volunteer ushers and Front of House Managers will be happy to assist you.
