Lookbook Spring-Summer 2019.
TEA TOWEL PRINT
This print was inspired by Australian wild flowers in the style of the classic printed tea towels or kitchen serviettes that many of us saw growing up in Australia (usually in our grandma’s kitchen). They romanticised a golden age of tourism and life in the sun back in the day. Typically they would include Australian native botanicals, main cities and wild life. Toaccompany this print, we could shoot some wild flowers or even one of the tea towels if we can get our hands on one...
1969. W hat a year. Rock ’n’ Roll. Revolution. We landed on the moon and created the internet. Woodstock inspired a generation. Free love was ever ywhere and the fashions were wild. W hatever 1969 means to you, it ’s synonymous with one thing for surfers: boardshorts. That ’s right, 1969 was the year when the first garment explicitly made for surfing came to life in a small village in the Southwest of Australia. And it ’s no coincidence that this was the exact day when Quiksilver was born. Back in the day no one could have know what crazy eras of radical times would follow. Blazing trails from the mountain to the wave and stopping by wherever we felt like, we’ve assembled an impressive collection of art work and memories. Always ready to tr y something new, we infuse performance and art and art with performance. Our 2019 collection revives some of our biggest hits with a modern twist. Our swimwear collection showcases some rad new artwork inspired by our beautiful birth countr y, Australia. We constantly innovate to provide the best technolog y fused with original designs and a distinct attention to the details. Our apparel range blends urban and sun-bleached beach vibes in a distinct line of comfortable and highly wearable styles. We’re stoked to celebrate with you.

Quiksilver boardshorts have come a long way since that garage in Torquay in 1969, where Alan Green stitched up the first performance surf trunks in the world. W hat started as a dream to make a living out of a passion for surfing, has become one of today ’s most technical advanced garments. As the original creator of boardshorts, we keep raising the bar as surfing evolves. Our ver y own Diamond Deluxe fabric is an ultralight, low-friction and fast-dr ying material that puts comfort first. We’ve also included recycled polyester in over 70% of the range, allowing you to perform without restriction while giving a second life to about 9 used plastic bottles per short. This season we’ve paid special attention to out artwork, creating a range of striking prints inspired by 50 years of surfing histor y. We’re dipping into the archives to revive original artwork from ‘60s and ‘70s originally inspired by surf trips, punk shows and graffiti culture from around the world. We’re also exploring the Australian connection to surf, culture and art, experimenting with psychedelic allover prints inspired by the native Pandanus tree or original tea towel flower patterns.

Channeling our surfing heritage into modern streetwear, Originals has an unmistakable attitude for the now. Since our early days, we have sought to elevate creative voices from surfing’s subculture — letting their unique vision shine in the products we make. This season, we’re going all retro and pastel, bringing on fresh hues of sky blue and purple. Combined with premium fabrics and iconic silhouettes, this line is both comfy and stylish with a strong nod to the ‘70s.
