The results of the weekly Ballyduff GAA Club, Lady’s Walk Hurling Club and the Ballyduff Community Games Committee Lotto Draw for Tuesday January 17th are as follows: The numbers drawn were 2, 21 & 25 and the Bonus number was 8. There was no winner of the €17,800 Jackpot or the €400 prize for Match Three. The following were the €20 Consolation prizes – Emma Fitzgerald, Bishopscourt; Maurice O’Connor, Benmore; Jake O’Keeffe, C/o Kathleen. The Lotto Draw takes place on each Tuesday night at the GAA Clubrooms. Tickets cost €2.50 each and are available at the local shops and businesses and from members of the promoting Clubs. BALLYDUFF GAA NEWS Relegation Play-off: O’Rahilly Park, Ballylongford, was the venue for this relegation play off to see what team would remain in Division 1 of the North Kerry Senior Football League with Tarbert providing the opposition on Sunday last. The old saying “Goals win matches” was definitely true in this case with Ballyduff hitting three goals, six in total, in the first quarter through Kevin Goulding and Michael Slattery. Jack Farrell added a fourth before the break to give Ballyduff a 4 – 1 to 0 – 9 lead at half time. Farrell and Slattery raised further green flags in the second half while Kevin and Nathan McGrath added points and Ballyduff ran out winners 6 – 4 to 0 – 13.

LADY’S WALK HURLING

Lady’s Walk Hurling Club will hold their Annual General Meeting on Friday February 3rd at 7.30pm in Lowe’s Bar, Ballyduff. Any motions or nominations for our AGM must be with Eddie Joy no later than 5.00pm on this Friday January 27th.

Deaths

The death took place of Lena O’Connor (née Costello), Ballybeggan, Tralee and late of Addergown, Ballyduff. Her remains reposed at Gleasure’s Funeral Home, Tralee. Her Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. John’s Church, Tralee and burial was in Rath Cemetery.

The death took place of Bridget (Bridge) O’Grady (née Diggin), Castleshannon, Causeway and late of The Cashen, Ballyduff. Her remains reposed at Casey’s Funeral Home, Causeway. Her Requiem Mass was celebrated at St, John’s Church, Causeway and burial was in St. John’s Cemetery.

Sympathy is extended to the families, relatives and friends of the above deceased.

Clothes Collection

On Thursday February 9th, Cash for Clobber, will collect reusable items of clothing, bed linen (No continental quilts or pillows), paired shoes, belts, handbags, towels and curtains from the Sliabh a’Mhadra National School. We are making a very special appeal to you to ask neighbours, relatives and friends who have not got children attending this school to clear out their attics and presses and add to our collection. The money we receive enables us to provide extra resources and opportunities for our pupils. Therefore, we would appeal to you to drop off any items of clothing you no longer need and also spread the word amongst your acquaintances.

A big thank you to all who contributed to our last collection which was a great success.

Clothes can be dropped in the shelter at the school on the evening of February 8th or from early morning to 10.00am on February 9th.

NEWS FROM BUD’S

(1): Bud’s Family Centre is recruiting new committee members for the Board of Trustee Bud’s is seeking interested individuals who would like to give of their knowledge, skills and experience to support the work of the organisation in providing quality and progressive services to the Community in Ballyduff and surrounding areas

Our goals for 2023 to 2025 are: Strengthen our governance, management and internal coordination as a charity organisation - Be an organisation that enables staff and volunteers to deliver, develop and get hands-on experience in working in a wide and varied environment with all different projects and programmes.

Skills and Experience Requirements

In line with our goals for 2023 to 2025 we are now planning to strengthen our board with governance, management and internal coordination. Bud’s is recruiting additional Committee members with any one of the following skills:

Accountancy and Finance - Marketing and PR - Human resources - IT & Social Media - Legal - Community Development - Youth & Community - Family Support Work – Childcare - Staff and Supervision - Old Age – Alone - Fundraising and Social Enterprise. New board members will also be expected to chair or participate in a subcommittee of the board. Previous board experience is desirable but not essential. Candidates with local knowledge and experience of working in the voluntary sector are preferred.

Information

The Board meets 11 times per year. Some of these meetings are virtual the others are held in Bud’s Centre Ballyduff maximum time 2 hours once a month. Bud’s will provide all board members with induction training and ongoing board development.

The term of office is three years with an option to be reappointed for a second and third term. This is a trustee role and Bud’s is a charity, in compliance with Regulatory requirements this role is not remunerated

This a wonderful opportunity to experience to learn about Community Work, Community Development, Family Support, Social Care, and Childcare. The running and operations of working at grass root level from the bottom up. Sharing your skills and talents in your professional capacity and giving a person a sense of belonging, sharing and giving back to the community. And also an insight into different fields of career choice

(2): Do You need Support? Bud’s Family Resource Centre holds AA Meetings In-House.

(3) We here at Bud’s Family Resource Centre Ballyduff are appealing to anyone that would like to help to support our Food Cloud Collection Programme. We get the food free from the shop but we have to pay to register our name each year, then the cost of fuel has risen. The volunteer pays for the fuel themselves. The driver does not get paid as it is done on a voluntary basis with their own transport. We have a driver with transport it is only it cost of the fuel. Then we donate food on a daily basis. (4) Michael Murphy School of Dancing will be starting back on Tuesday the 17th of January. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
