2. You only have 2 minutes to post a picture of whatever you are doing at the moment.
1. Everyone has to post once a day at the same time.
BeReal is a French social media app founded in 2020 by Alex Barreyat. It took inspiration from Minutiae, another app with the same intent: show people what you are doing right now. BeReal allows people to connect with groups of close friends, without filters in the way of reality.
7
The app blew up out of nowhere and has been a recent fad amongst GenZ. Downloads of the app have risen by about 315% as of late April, according to Social Media Today. A possible reason for its sudden popularity is the authenticity the app encourages individuals to embrace. Essentially, BeReal asks its users to post an unfiltered photo of themselves once a day instead of resorting to posting pictures with heavily applied edits and filters (such as on Instagram and TikTok). It removes “filters and opportunities to stage, overthink, or edit photos” (Cheong), almost forcing individuals to be themselves.

Do you ever wonder how social media models look so perfect? Or what the phrase “instagram worthy” means?
Apps like instagram and TikTok apply several different filters that allow pictures to be enhanced. Although this may make posts aesthetically pleasing, it does not show the viewer what really happens. What if there was an app that would show you exactly what something or someone looked like, at the moment, without filters?
Some information and rules for the app are listed below:
3. The app takes a picture using both your front and back cameras, so friends can see your face and your location/what you are doing.

In terms of interaction with other users, there is an aspect of originality built in as well. Instead of a heart or a thumbs up, users have to take a selfie of their face that then transforms into a “Realmoji,” where your facial expression becomes the reaction to the post. You can also comment under a person’s post. A final feature that users have tended to appreciate is the “Your Memories” page, which creates a photo album of daily memories. You will have access to a nice, cute album of what you were doing or where you were enjoying yourself in the past, encompassing the full realness of the memories.
Individuals may feel stressed about a certain picture they posted or the location they are currently in. It also notifies friends if you post your picture “late,” after the 2 minute mark. This attaches a sense of shame to taking your time with the photo, and thus creates judgment and stigma. However, there is the option to delete and retake a BeReal post, but only once a day after you’ve posted it on your feed. This encourages users to not spend too much time on the app, which is a great way to minimize screen time on social media.
the most ideal condition (even though it is not mandatory to post every day).

BeReal has allowed many individuals to embrace themselves for who they are and enjoy the rawness of the moment rather than spending hours attempting to make themselves or their situation look “better.” Although it may subject users to pressure and stress on occasion, it definitely has many aspects to it that take away from the toxicity of other social media apps such as Instagram and TikTok. If you haven’t downloaded BeReal yet, try it out and see if it’s something you enjoy! Happy BeRealing!

Thomas Nast, the father of political cartoons, had a great influence on the audience because of his extraordinary cartooning skills and gained political artworks a lot of popularity.

Another famous identity who gave caricatures a new and popular platform was James Gillray, a British caricaturist. He is distinguished in the history of caricature by the fact that his sketches are real works of art. A number of his most incisive satires are directed against George III.
Originating from America, the first ever published political cartoon, was made by Benjamin Franklin. In 1754, Franklin’s artwork was published in a newspaper called 'the join or die woodcut', representing a snake cut into eight pieces symbolizing the British colonies in America. Political cartoons have a long and interesting history. Considered as old as humanity; they came into existence during the war period, the eighteenth century, and exist today in various forms, most popularly as caricatures.

Caricatures consist of mainly two parts: the drawing and the text, both equally important. The artwork must represent a figure, easily recognizable by the audience, in a caricature format.
Political cartoons as a modern form of art are represented in the form of caricatures. Caricatures and cartoons are not the same. Cartoons represent fictional characters, however caricatures are exaggerated satirical drawings of existing people.
Political cartoons remain a staple for the media. A good eye for detail and an ability to draw are the basics of this art. The text can be added by the cartoonist or the writer. The need for political cartoonists will continue long into the future.
There are many formats, other than newspapers, where political cartoons are found. Social media uses cartoon memes to illustrate their ideas and biting commentary. Printing popular political cartoons on glass decals or glass transfers and putting them on vehicle windows is another widespread application.
During the process of conveying opinions through art, the artist has to make certain artistic decisions regarding symbols like allegory, techniques, etc. An important thing to keep in mind is whether the audience will understand the editorial cartoon.
14
Cartoons are a unique form of journalism which contrast with conventional forms of communication. They explain the stories in a manner articles cannot.
Political cartoons are drawings made for commentary and expression of the public opinion on various political issues. These cartoons play a significant role in the political discourse of countries that hold rights to freedom of speech and press. While making a political cartoon, the cartoonist has to keep in mind to not alter the facts.

Stereotypes and biases based on gender have shown a decreasing trend during the past decade due to the feminist movement’s attempts at reforming the way the media and pop culture portray women. However, the fight is far from over. In a 2019 study by Geena Davis, male leads outnumbered female leads in a 2:1 ratio on screen. This trend carries itself through movies, books, children’s television, and news outlets all around the globe, and while some corporations have held themselves accountable to combat this negative stereotyping, others simply add fuel to the fire
According to Oxford Languages, a stereotype can be defined as a “widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.” Common stereotypes of women include that they are weak, over emotional, neurotic, and incapable of functioning without their ‘man.’ Other times, women are simply one dimensional caricatures that are only used to further a male character’s story arc. Stereotypes are both descriptive (members of a stereotyped group are both viewed as carbon copies of one another with no perceived differences) and prescriptive (these stereotypes can dictate how the group will act/how the public will treat them). These show up in various ways in the media we produce and consume-for example, hyper feminine women often show up as the antagonist on screen. This paints femininity in a negative, often demonizing, light, and shows more malleable people (children) that embracing one’s femininity is inherently evil.
Furthermore, a common breeding ground for gender-specific stereotyping is in the media produced for children. From an alarmingly young age, children are shaping the way they see their own and other genders based on the things they see on screen. Research shows exposure to heavily stereotyped media at a young age causes both preferences for toys and games often associated with a particular gender, as well as traditional enactments of gender roles. This is a key contributor to male aggression, and thus one reason beyond many for the high domestic violence statistics associated with men in particular. In contrast to this, as little girls see themselves painted in an overly emotional light (excluding healthy anger), they may internalize a false connotation that they are not allowed to stand up for themselves, or the common falsity that “that boy is just being mean to you because he likes you.” As these children grow into adults, society is unable to break the cycle of these strictly enforced gender roles.

As more light has been shed on the issue of gender-specific bias and stereotyping, the journalism industry in particular has been a key player in the task of its reversal. Seeing as a disproportionate amount of journalists on screen are men, companies such as BBC have been searching for ways to make positive change. Thus, they have created the 50:50 project a collective that ensures 50% of the journalists in front of the camera are women. Many other news outlets have been following suit, along with a hopeful statistic that in children’s television, the ratio of female to male main characters is nearing 1:1. During an interview with some founders of the 50:50 project, their response to a question on why they believe they have found success was not relating to external but internal factors he stated that one of the changes many have had to make is to change their mindset from a bystander passively watching this problem compound to someone who has a say in the way things are run. This, perhaps, is the key to reversing stereotypes in the media and in daily life in order for change to occur on a societal level, every single member of society must recognize the ways they contribute to the problem and then actively work to reverse this damage. With the promising statistics pouring in about the progress so far, many hope to live in a world where their children never learn which emotions they are allowed to show from a box in their living room or a book on their shelf.

The Supreme Court ruled 7 2 in January of 1973 that the Constitution protects the right to an abortion nationwide without excessive government restrictions. On Friday, June 24th, 2022, the court reversed this ruling, turning back almost 50 years of history. Prior to the final ruling, much of the decision was leaked in a draft report in May. It is now up to state legislation to decide whether or not abortion is legal. As of now, abortion rights are set to roll back in 13 states almost immediately with the application of trigger bans or laws, which are laws that are designed to take effect when certain conditions are met. 25 states in total are likely to or have already banned abortion These states do not have exceptions for r*pe or incest and are not considerate of other circumstances even if a person will die during labor. The overturning of Roe v. Wade has once again sparked anger, despair, and controversy, continuing to divide the United States. The initial leaking of the draft leading up to the inevitable SCOTUS decision in June comes with a lot of weight. To begin, the decision must be analyzed in alignment with the history of Roe v. Wade, along with what this decision means for the future of abortion access and how it affects different communities.

the need for evidence and investigations, including things like scouring health apps, social media, and text messages to determine whether or not an individual has received an abortion. This will greatly violate people’s privacy and make it more dangerous to receive a safe abortion.
While the overturn of Roe has already caused a ripple effect across people of all backgrounds in America, it is important to acknowledge that the ruling will disproportionately affect poor and lower middle class families, as well as people of color. Travelling to a different state or country where abortion is legal is an expense many cannot afford, and abortion rates for many marginalized groups are statistically higher to begin with.
In a 2019 study, it was found that the abortion rate for Black women was 23.8 per 1,000 women, and 11.7 per 1,000 for Hispanic women (noting as well that this study excluded trans men and ways has nine justices, each serving a lifelong term. Although much of the work to reverse the damage done by Roe v. Wade’s overturning must be done by the government, there are still ways you as an individual can contribute to the cause. Organizing and participating in protests in your area is perhaps one of the most effective ways to make your voice heard, and many search engines can help you find ones in your zip code. In addition, donating if you have the means to is a great way to directly fund clinics and organizations that make access to abortion easier in states with restrictions. nonbinary people). In stark contrast, the abortion rate for White women was 6.6 per 1,000. Even before the Supreme Court ruling, structural barriers such as language barriers, cultural stigmas, low insurance coverage, lack of contraceptives and lack of sexual education prevented people of color specifically from receiving the medical care they needed. In today’s world, abortions even in states that allow them up to a certain point have become downright impossible. It is important to note that not all people who have received or will receive abortions are women.
Transgender men and nonbinary people who already experience immense stigma and cultural barriers surrounding their gender identity versus their ability to carry a child will now receive even less of the support they desperately need in states passing laws against their very existence. Not only that, but Clarence Thomas wrote in his ruling that the court needed to consider all legislation passed concerning the 14th Amendment which states that all citizens must receive equal protection under the law. This includes legislation related to gay marriage (Obergefell v. Hodges, 2015), consensual intercourse between members of the LGBTQ+ community (Lawrence v. Texas, 2003), contraceptives, and interracial marriage (Loving v. Virginia, 1967). Gay marriage has only been legal for seven years, and has only been legal for seven years, and many LGBTQ+ activists believe this decision may be the turning point for many newly secured rights.

This decision challenged the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to regulate greenhouse gasses coming from power plants. SCOTUS ruled in favor of West Virginia, meaning that the EPA was stripped of the right to regulate toxic air pollutants. The argument was based on the idea that the power to regulate emissions should be given to Congress rather than the EPA. This will severely hinder actions to eliminate the climate crisis.

Canada committed to a ban on singleuse plastics in late June 2022. Will this ban prove to be an effective way to combat climate change?
Single use plastics are also supposed to be discarded immediately; examples of items containing single use plastics include cutlery, straws, bottles, and bags. Unfortunately, leakage from petrochemical plants into our atmosphere can have extremely adverse effects on our health, causing a myriad of illnesses including lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, brain damage, and premature death (Iyer & Mastorakis, 2009, 525). On average, 400 million tons of plastic waste is produced per year, and that number is not likely to decrease any time soon (Wakefield, 2022). Plastics do not fully decompose instead, they gradually disintegrate into microplastics, which are less than 5 millimeters in size (Lindwall, 2020). As a result, aquatic animals mistake microplastics for food, causing permanent, potentially fatal damage to their internal organs. Eventually, we eat these creatures contaminated with microplastics; in fact, we consume up to 44 pounds of microplastics in a lifetime (Scarr, 2019). Overexposure to microplastics can cause fertility issues and cancer (Lindwall, 2020). Therefore, it is not surprising that 75% of people worldwide support banning single use plastics (Geddie, 2022).
According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, single-use plastics are products that are mainly composed of “fossil fuel based chemicals,” also known as “petrochemicals.” Manufacturers use these petrochemicals instead of more environmentally friendly alternatives (such as recycled paper, bamboo, and stainless steel) in order to cut costs.
On June 22, 2022, in a historic victory for climate activists worldwide, the government of Canada passed legislation to “ban harmful single use

Oftentimes, “eco friendly” straws can be downright dangerous;they melt more easily and contain more allergens than plastic straws. They also require more coordination, which can turn a routine task into a frustrating struggle, and even lead to bodily harm.
Starting December 2022, checkout bags, cutlery, foodservice ware made from “hard to recycle” plastics, ring carriers, stir sticks, and straws (some exemptions will be made) cannot be manufactured or imported into Canada.
To give businesses time to source new, eco-friendly items and discard old inventory, beginning December 2023, the aforementioned products cannot be sold in stores. In 2025, the export of those six products will be barred. The Canadian government predicts that, as a result of this ban, 2,866,009,640 pounds of “hard to recycle” plastic waste and over 48,501,701 pounds of plastic pollution will be eradicated, ensuring that the environment is not harmed.
32
action to save the environment, she argues that the ban will do more to hurt disabled people than meaningfully impact levels of plastic waste.
While the ban will significantly reduce plastic waste/pollution, it is also important to note that it may harm people with disabilities. In an interview with CityNews, Karli Drew, of Edmonton, Canada, who depends on plastic straws to consume daily meals because she “can’t always eat and swallow,” voiced her concerns about the ban. While she supports taking
Additionally, these alternative straws can be quite costly compared to plastic straws. Reiterating the prior concern about coordination, reusable straws need to be washed;some people have disabilities so severe that they cannot wash dishware and must use disposable items instead. Despite Canada’s Health Minister’s reassurances that plastic straws will continue to be available for purchase to the disabled on demand (in packages of 20) and in medical facilities, people still worry that there may be a shortage of them, and that they will not be accessible enough when out-and-about (e.g. at local restaurants). While the ban is too new to determine its full long term impact on plastic waste reduction, it is a step in the right direction. Other countries may follow in Canada’s footsteps, inspiring new climate-saving legislation at a time when it is desperately needed. plastics” to “keep them out of the environment,” making Canada one of the first countries in the world to implement a large scale ban on single use plastics (Environment and Climate Change Canada, 2022). Currently, according to the government, up to 15 million plastic checkout bags are used over a year, and 16 million straws are used per day, piling up along the shores of Canada, threatening marine life.

These symptoms last about two to four weeks, before they crust up and fall off. However, symptoms seem to be varying in the current outbreak. People can appear to have the virus, yet be asymptomatic.
Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by the monkeypox virus, which is closely related to the well known smallpox virus. It was discovered in 1958, in monkeys that were being used for research, and then documented spreading to humans in the 1970s. There are two clades, or variants, or monkeypox: the Central African clade and West African clade. The current outbreak seems to match the West African clade. Unlike COVID, which spreads through droplets, monkeypox requires close contact to spread. It is usually spread by infected mice, but can be spread with close contact with someone who is infected.
I feel like we deserve a break after COVID 19. Give us a couple years where things are calm. Unfortunately, it seems like that can’t happen. Meet the new disease spreading across the globe: monkeypox. However, while an outbreak is a cause for concern, it is not going to cause as much havoc as COVID 19, so don’t start worrying too much. For further reassurance, let’s break down what you need to know about monkeypox. what is monkeypox & how does it spread? whatarethe symptoms?
howdoyou treatit? the current outbreak
The smallpox vaccine is 85% effective against monkeypox; however, vaccination for smallpox stopped in 1972, in the US. This means many people haven’t received the smallpox vaccination. There is also a monkeypox vaccination but many people don’t use it. As of right now, the best way to prevent infection is just to be safe, by: Hopefully, this article was able to reassure you that monkeypox isn’t a huge cause for concern just yet. I know that COVID has put us all on edge, but monkeypox isn’t quite as much a threat for now. However, staying safe, washing our hands, and protecting ourselves as much as we can should help us now if monkeypox ever starts to get worse. Stay safe everyone! Monkeypox is endemic to, or typically found in, Africa. It has previously spread to different continents through shipments of infected animals. It spread some more as international travel became more common. The recent outbreaks have attracted our attention because there have been multiple of them in Europe, the Americas, and Australia, areas where the virus isn’t endemic. There is no cause for concern among the general population about the outbreaks turning into another pandemic. For now, we just have to rely on scientists to figure out why these outbreaks are happening, to study the outbreaks and be ready to help us with vaccinations if necessary.
Washing your hands. Cooking animal products thoroughly. Avoiding contact with infected animals and people and if you can’t, using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Wearing masks and cleaning frequently touched surfaces regularly.

Most people who have monkeypox recover on their own, within two to four weeks. There is no approved antiviral treatment yet.

When we think of muscles, we might think of the ones that are ripped and robust; the ones on our arms and legs. They are called skeletal muscles, and are composed of many small muscle fibers. When lifting weights, muscle fibers enable one to contract their arm. It may seem counterintuitive, but when working out, muscle fibers can tear. It is during the rest period, when the muscles are not put to work, where the growth happens. A cellular process, called myogenesis, joins muscle fibers, which now have increased thickness (Levya, 2022). When the rate of muscle synthesis is higher than the rate of muscle breakdown, our muscles grow. To put it into simpler terms, when we give adequate time for our muscles to regenerate between workouts, we experience gains in muscle. However, we must take healthy measures during the rest period to ensure that ample muscle fibers build up. Eating healthy is crucial to gaining muscle. Since muscle fibers join to create muscle proteins, called myofibrils, it’s important to have an abundance of protein every day.
37
Protein keeps the body full for longer periods of time, and curbs cravings of unhealthy foods. Examples of vegetarian foods that are high in protein include: eggs, almonds, greek yogurt, lentils, and quinoa. Some people also use protein powders, or drink protein shakes, post workout to aid in muscle reparation and regeneration.

During a workout, choosing the right weights, setting a target rep count, and doing exercises that target specific muscle areas are significant growth fuelers. You don’t want to lift too much, as that can cause injury.
Fats, like protein, also keep the Fbody ats, like protein, also keep the body more full, and digest slowly. Opt mfor ore full, and digest slowly. Opt for foods containing healthy fat, such fas oods containing healthy fat, such as avocado, nuts, fatty fish, and olive aoil. vocado, nuts, fatty fish, and olive oil.
Lifting weights that are too light for you will not result in the small muscle tears needed for regrowth. Moreover, you don’t want to do too many, or too few, reps of an exercise. A good baseline is 3 sets of 15 reps for each exercise. Finally, if you want to grow specific muscles, perform exercises that target that muscle area. If you feel a ‘burn’ in that area while working out, then you’re properly targeting it, and can experience muscle growth. But most of all, enjoy the experience. Do not restrict yourself from unhealthy foods, and do not overwork yourself. Having muscle provides many health benefits; but if you want to gain it just for the look, know that all bodies are acceptable no matter their size. Muscle growth is a slow process that should be enjoyable and mindful.
Once the rest period is over; it is time to work out. Muscle growth is aided by three conditions: muscle tension, muscle damage, and metabolic stress (Levya, 2022). Lifting progressively heavier weights each workout is an example of muscle tension which activates cells and proteins to later rebuild muscle fibers. Damaged muscle, post workout, can cause common soreness. It also releases signals to other parts of the body to start muscle regeneration.
Finally, there may be swelling around your arms after lifting weights. This does not necessarily mean the muscle cells are bigger, it is just metabolic stress creating a ‘pump.’ The swelling is caused by muscle glycogen, which acts as energy storage for muscles.

Oftentimes, it is accepted that selfdevelopment comes solely out of a period of difficulty, like a plant growing through a storm. However, as much as growth can be situational, it can also come out of merely working on yourself, at whatever point in life you decide to do so. There are a multitude of ways to focus on your mind, body, and soul as a whole, but below are a few key points and insightful tips for your journey. Self development begins with being in tune with yourself. It is important to listen to what your mind, body, and soul have to tell you every day because they are always sending signals and hints about what they need. Some ways to do this are to meditate, practice guided imagery, do a body scan, or even talk to your mind and body (which sounds a little odd, but communicating with yourself verbally will make what your mind and body are saying a little clearer). Once you understand what you need, whether it is exercise, food, productivity, or relaxation, act on it immediately. Do not push it for later or postpone the activity, the same way you would not delay drinking water if you were dehydrated at the moment.
Practicing this can help you with bigger goals for yourself, such as getting better grades in school or maintaining a better work routine. Once you are on the same page as your body, it becomes easier to develop your values and purpose, because you have a greater understanding of your vision and how best to achieve it with the way your mind and body work. Another little tip is to do something for your mind (read!), body (yoga!), and soul (watch a comedy movie!) everyday!
Finally, it is important to have a healthy growth mindset. As easy as that sounds, it can be very difficult when running into an obstacle that seems impossible to cross over. The first step in having a growth mindset is to simply rephrase the things you tell yourself. Instead of saying you cannot do something or you are not good enough, change it to say that you will try your best, and learn as much as you can. This will allow you to see any challenges you face as opportunities. Understand that failure or mistakes are simply a gift given to you so that you can learn more than you already know. Having a growth mindset will be easier when you understand more about yourself and have a deeper sense of self-awareness, which you can do by focusing on yourself and self reflecting. This will allow you to know your true potential.

Using a combination of these three tips will make it easier for you to grow as a person and bring you closer to your goals. The first step in achieving anything in life is to know who you are and nurture your growth. There are many more things that self development encompasses, but these are some of the important few that are rather easy to do. Try starting today!

Feedback and constructive criticism are always a great way to grow and learn. Self reflection is a form of feedback, yet it is more a meditative practice and can allow you to think of things you had not thought of before. Simply writing in a journal or in your Notes app, or even just thinking about your day before bed or in the shower and noting some things you loved, some things you want to try differently, and something you are excited for tomorrow, will allow for a greater sense of self awareness. It allows you to look into your thoughts, feelings, actions, and emotions to understand yourself. Self-reflection will inevitably lead to growth and help you observe what you need to make yourself happy and things you can change in your life. However, it is important to not let your self reflection spiral into rumination as that will negatively harm your mental health. Set boundaries for how much you will think about a certain thing; it is okay to not figure everything out!

Underage drinking is inevitable. Oftentimes, students are introduced to it in their later years of high school and throughout college. Drinking underage often leads young students to go to great lengths such as creating false ids and stealing alcohol. Not to mention, when drinking, its easy for underage children to overestimate their tolerance and drink more than they can handle. This can lead to dangerous accidents, especially when driving.

ARE PSYCHOLOGY AND ECONOMICS RELATED? Written by Ashmita Annamalai Edited by Gunkriti Kaur, Geethi Tarra Layout by Shoffana Sundaramoorthy YES, Everything concerned with the human being is connected to psychology—and economics is very much related to the human experience. Zoos are a popular attraction that engages the general population, who gets to learn about animals and amuse by their movements. However, is the legalization of zoos actually humane and justifiable, since we are imprisoning animals in the name of protection? What would you prefer: to be protected with no freedom, or be independent without any protection? What is your opinion on whether are not zoos should be illegal? In this article, we will be discussing both sides of this controversial issue. According to multiple sources, zoos are establishments, that secure a collection of various enclosed animals to allow for visitation. Many of these sources tend to have a controversial view about the legalization of zoos. Zoos can be seen as both protectors of animals from the harsh world and also as imprisonment for animals, as it affects their overall well being.
"Zoo animals are all stolen from the wild." According to Banton Jones, most animals sheltered in accredited facilities across North America and Europe start their lives in confinement due to other zoos' breeding programs. These animals are not taken from their home; they are given one where they can thrive while being protected by the harsh conditions of the natural world. Some also believe confined animals are purely for entertainment and are not supervised, but "How to Become a Zookeeper: The Ultimate Guide" by Kyle Banton Jones discusses how one requires a "background of animal experience" and a university college diploma and degree in biology. While reading these articles, I saw how these animals are loved by those who care for them. They are appreciated and understood. Furthermore, according to "The Benefits of Zoos and Aquarium," many assume these animals are lonely and would be happier in the wild. Still, we do not know what these animals genuinely want. Unlike us, many animals thrive better without social interactions. They may be more content in zoos because they have adequate food, water, and resources for better It's essential to have all the information to form a strong opinion, so we must first debunk some common myths. Many believe that by enclosing the animals in a zoo, as humans, we are taking responsibility for protecting them from disappearing natural habitats. However, according to the "Human Population Growth And Extinction" by the Center for Biological Diversity, it states that "fifty percent of the planet’s land mass has been transformed for human use." As humans, we are responsible for all the disappearing natural habitats, and even though we are desperately trying to preserve wildlife, restricting animals in zoos is not the best and most humane option. No matter how justifiable our reasoning may be for protecting the animals at zoos, we are still holding them against their will, caging them in a confined and unnatural habitat.
EGAL EGAL zoos be and longer lives while inhabiting an environment close to their natural atmosphere. or stereotypes..." These behaviors in animals are "often monotonous, obsessive, repetitive actions that serve no purpose." As life forms, we are supposed to live free, make decisions on our own, and interact with other life forms, which all constitute our wellbeing. The same applies to the animals, where they should have the freedom that they deserve, rather than forcing them to our will and letting them suffer through captivity and its after effects. However, instead of letting them go wild and utilize their natural animal instincts to obtain food, we give them timely mannered and scheduled food. Moreover, our imprisonment of these animals affects their mental and physical well-being, where they demonstrate strange and unnatural behaviors. Hence, zoos should be illegal, where all life forms should be given the chance to live their lives freely, and should not be held captive for humans’ frantic justifications and amusements.

According to the "What Is Zoochosis & How Do Animals Get It?," animals held in captivity develop something called Zoochosis, which is "a form of psychosis that develops in animals held captive in zoos...stereotypic behaviors, In conclusion, even though zoos can be viewed as something that protects animals from harsh environments, it is also viewed by many as an unethical form of prison that drastically affects the animals’ welfare. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it is necessary to all have the relevant information and perspectives. Therefore, before forming your own opinion, listen to both sides, do your own research and understand what zoos mean to the zookeeper, the animals, and people in general. What do zoos mean to you?
