At Manor Primary everyone reaches for the stars Every pupil is equally valued and through a powerful combination of outstanding learning and exceptional leadership, our pupils are nurtured and inspired to be the best they can be both now and in their future lives. The key to this success is treating every child as an individual; to motivate and develop them by focusing on how they have improved on their school journey, not how they started.

Inspirational teaching that expands minds and broadens horizons

Our outstanding teachers use all their skills, passion and latest techniques to engage and involve all our pupils in a unique and compelling way, to ensure that they develop a lifelong love of learning. Inspirational teaching acts as a rock solid foundation to both sustain children’s interest and engagement with the subjects and to create success and attainment levels above expectation both at their time at Manor and throughout their future lives. The lessons take place in vibrant, energising classrooms where there are no passive, disengaged pupils. Our classes crackle with positive energy. They are full of engaged, enthused children who are not only keen to learn, but also eager to participate and contribute their thoughts, with total confidence, to the lessons.

Every child has a tailor-made education that fits perfectly Every child has different starting points, strengths and talents. At Manor, we recognise their own unique make-up, and develop a personalised experience of the school both in terms of the curriculum and the monitoring of their progress. Every pupil, irrespective of their ability, has their own personal goals that are attainable. This is a powerful motivating factor in their development – they know that if they work hard they can achieve those goals and this develops their confidence and positive attitude towards learning. We also instil a sense of self-belief and develop each child emotionally, physically, intellectually, spiritually and socially so that they are able to fulfil their true potential. Our pupils are taught to believe anything is possible and there are no limits to what they can achieve.

Our curriculum engages, excites and achieves outstanding results The importance of the curriculum can never be underestimated in school life. It acts as the foundation to provide everyone with a measurable plan and structure for delivering a world-class education. At Manor, we recognise this and embrace the opportunity to use it to the full. We believe that to achieve their best children must be fully engaged to enjoy learning, and whilst we make sure that it conforms to all the appropriate guidelines, our curriculum is custom designed to both stimulate our pupils and achieve the best possible results. Our approach has been very successful and we were proud when we received recognition from OFSTED who praised the curriculum as being “one of the most innovative they had ever seen.

WE ALWAYS:

1. RESPECT EACH OTHER 2. TRY OUR BEST AT EVERYTHING WE DO 3. LISTEN TO WHOEVER IS SPEAKING 4. ARE POLITE TO EVERYONE 5. WALK AROUND THE SCHOOL IN A SENSIBLE MANNER

We only accept the highest standards of behaviour At Manor, we believe effective teaching and learning cannot take place without positive behaviour. Children need a calm and purposeful atmosphere in order to learn successfully. We encourage positive attitudes towards each other, both in the classroom and wider school environment, so that all children feel safe and secure. Every pupil is respected and valued irrespective of race, faith or gender, and looked after and cared for. The pupils care deeply about each other and are prepared to stand up and help each other, so bullying and other unacceptable behaviour is almost unheard of. We have an established set of school expectations that have been developed by our pupils. Our expectations are expressed in positive statements and are few in number so that every child in the school can learn them and know what they mean and they are displayed in all classrooms.

EXPLORING

The people at our school are key to its success. Everyone in our community – staff, pupils and parents/guardians all contribute positively to the school. Everyone working together and pulling in the same direction, creates a tight-knit, caring, family atmosphere. Clear communication is key to creating a school community that is at one with each other. Our culture is totally transparent – nothing is hidden or left unsaid – exercise books are openly on display in the classrooms; reports are continuously provided to parents; and the staff are readily available and accessible to discuss any school matter. We care passionately for every child. We continually strive to ensure that every child progresses and achieves their personal targets. Problems may arise throughout the school years, but rather than let them hinder the child’s progress, we tackle them head on. We always approach every problem with an honesty and integrity that allows everyone involved to

CREATING MOVIES

Encouraging creative thinking with no fear of failure Fear of failure limits free creative thinking; so we instil our children with the belief that it is better to try and to find something challenging and learn from mistakes as they go. This leads to a more open way of thinking, positively encourages creative thinking and freedom of expression as a means of learning and personal development. Encouraging confidence in exploring and voicing ideas and thoughts instils self-belief and self-confidence in our pupils. Without fear of failure, when a question is asked in class, all children respond with confidence – everyone in the class is eager to participate. If when asked the question the answer slips from mind, there’s no embarrassment or shame, just the cry of “Phone a friend!” and another pupil offers a response. Encouraging our children to think differently and more effectively is only one example of our innovative approach to teaching. The world of education is continually evolving and we embrace the new thinking and technologies that will help all of our children achieve more. No stone is left unturned to improve the standard of teaching and the learning environment. The culture of continual improvement is embedded in the ethos and philosophy of the school – however many accolades we achieve, we view them as stepping stones on a journey of progression.
