VET FEE-

HELP

VET FEE-HELP is a government loan scheme that allows students to study now and pay later.

What is VET FEE-HELP?

VET FEE-HELP Repayment

VET FEE-HELP is a loan scheme for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. VET FEE-HELP assists eligible students undertaking certain VET courses of study. It allows students to be able to borrow funds up to their FEE-HELP limit to help pay for all or part of their tuition fees. It does not cover accommodation and general living expenses. Students approved for VET FEE-HELP assistance will have a loan with the Australian Government who will, on the student’s behalf, pay their tuition fees to their approved VET provider.

VET FEE-HELP debts become part of a student’s accumulated Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) debt. The debt is paid through the tax system once the student reaches the minimum income threshold level for repayment. The threshold for the 2013/14 income year is $51,309.

Who is eligible for VET FEE-HELP? To be eligible for VET FEE-HELP students must: • be Australian citizens, or permanent humanitarian visa holders who will be a resident in Australia for the duration of the their study • be an eligible student enrolled on or before the census date in an eligible unit of study • meet the tax file number requirements • not have exceeded the FEE-HELP limit. Please note there is no age restriction for those wishing to apply for VET FEE-HELP.
