Business Claims and Testimonial Guidelines

hen creating newsletters, advertisements, testimonials, videos, social media posts, etc., Members need to be mindful of business claims that could violate FTC regulations. Here are some helpful Dos and Don’ts.

Dos:

• Do use the following terms in a manner that isn’t misleading: Flexible schedule, Time flexibility, Supplemental income, Work on your own terms, Part-time income (i.e., “Flexible hours and parttime work from your cell phone or home.” “Work alongside your current job to supplement your income.”) • Do use endorsements or recommendations of the company’s overall products and business (i.e., “We offer not only great products but also an income opportunity and we’d love to have you join us!” “My team and I are part of something so big and it is growing with such momentum … thank you AIM!”) • Do use inspirational or motivational messages (i.e., “Don’t let your fear of failing or fear of the unknown stop you.” “Who needs a little extra money for the holidays? Let’s talk!” “You are capable of anything you are willing to work for!”) • Do examine any income claims - whether they’re explicit or in the form of a referential storyline - and ask yourself whether they represent the average results for all distributors. • Do have the Company review your AIM income or lifestyle claims prior to publication to ensure they meet FTC guidelines.

Don’ts:

• Don’t make income claims regarding the level of bonuses or income associated with an AIM business without a Company review to ensure they meet FTC guidelines. • Don’t use the terms Passive income, Residual income, Replacement income, Financial freedom, Time freedom, Recurring income (or terms of similar meaning). • Don’t encourage people to quit jobs or school, take out loans, or incur debt to pursue an AIM business. • On social media, don’t re-share, retweet, or “like” items inconsistent with approved guidelines. • Don’t imply or claim that the opportunity can help pay for things like groceries, children’s activities, medical expenses, car or house payments, or childcare. • Don’t use images of wealth (yachts, private jets, luxury cars or homes, etc.) to imply an income that few Members can afford solely through the AIM Opportunity/Income Plan.

We must always AIM for the impossible; if we lower our goal, we also diminish our effort. Dorothy Day

Viral Infections By Charlotte Meschede - Nutritionist

This is indeed a strange and unnatural time for everyone all over the world. Who would have thought that a simple organism such as a virus, in this case an enveloped virus, would be able to hold the entire world hostage, whilst it wreaks havoc on all of our lives? proximately 2 million, 68,000 of those being in the USA alone.

This isn’t the first time as we all know. The pandemics that have captured the historians over time include these: •

The Flu Pandemic of 1918 (Spanish Flu) literally spread across the globe, infecting over a third of the world’s population and causing 2050 million deaths. Of the 500 million people infected, the mortality rate was 10-20%. The difference with this virus from others was that it infected young, completely healthy adults, whilst leaving weaker children with compromised immune systems alive.

The first major pandemic in the 20th century was the 6th Cholera pandemic from 1910 – 1911. This originated in India and killed 800,000 or more before going to the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe and Russia.

The worst of all the pandemics was of curse the Black Death or Bubonic Plague that ravaged Europe, Africa and Asia from 1346 - 1353. The estimated death toll was 75 – 200 million people having been spread to humans via fleas living on rats.

AIDS PANDEMIC peaked from 2005 - 2012 although was discovered much earlier.

• The total death from AIDS since 1981 has been 36 million. It was first identified in the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) in 1976. To date about 5% of Sub-Saharan Africa are infected (approximately 21 million people). •

4

The Hong Kong Flu pandemic in 1968 was caused by the H3N2 strain of the Influenza A virus. Although this virus had a comparatively low death rate, more than a million people died, including 500 000 of the Hong Kong residents at the time. The Asian Flu (1956-1958) was also Influence A virus (H2N2 from which the above flu developed). It also originated in China and lasted for about 2 years. The WHO estimated the death toll to be ap-

Boosting

Nutrient Intake By Charlotte Meschede - Nutritionist

How can we as individuals help to boost our essential nutrient intake?

As anyone who has read my articles before will know that I will always support a healthy diet over millions of expensive pills and potions, which claim to ‘do it all’ and then ignore what one eats. However, we live in a fast world and not all of us have the time and resources to make raw juices, and eat an abundance of fresh food. Whilst all of us should endeavour to get enough plant foods on our plates, especially those with bright colours such as dark green, orange, red, blue and other coloured vegetables and fruits (as the pigments have the antioxidant compounds that are powerhouses against the fight against oxidative stress), we have at our disposal some very powerful whole food supplements such as AIM BarleyLife, AIM LeafGreens, AIM Just Carrots and AIM RediBeets to mention a few. In addition, there is AIM Proancynol 2000, which contains a formulation of antioxidants that are designed to help boost the essential trace elements in our diets that are often deficient.

CalciAIM is a powder that contains

minerals like calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc and vitamin A. None of these wonderful whole food supplements contain any nutrient in excess and they will all, individually or taken in combinations, do much to help support a healthy nutritional status.

Returning the

Care

With Mother’s Day falling on May 10 this year, it’s especially heartwarming to hear about adult children who return the love and care given to them by their moms. Such is the case with Mary-Ann Shearer, an AIM Chairman’s Club Director whose home is in the harbour town of Gordon’s Bay in the Western Cape province of South Africa. “I recently had to move my mom out of her apartment because she was getting too frail to look after herself. My husband, Mark, agreed with me that caring for her would be the best solution. “My mother is 87 years old, and I have been helping her to get her health back. It has taken time, but it’s working and that’s incredible.

“One of AIM’s targeted-nutrition supplements that has helped her the most is Composure. It has kept her calm and her shaking is barely visible now. Its herbs have helped my mother to relax and sleep better, which is vital for staying healthy. It also helps me to get to sleep when my mind is too busy. “All in all, AIM has really helped to make our days with mom happier ones.”

“Along with feeding her a raw, vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free diet, my mom has been taking some plant-based, whole-food concentrates, specifically BarleyLife, Just Carrots and RediBeets, as well as the probiotics in FloraFood. “When my mother first arrived at our home, she could not walk at all unaided. Now, with a little assistance, she is able to go for walks up to four times a day.

Boosting Bone Health We all know that calcium is a mineral that makes bones strong and healthy. It’s a fact that over 99 percent of all the calcium in our bodies is located in our teeth and bones.1 The rest is found in our tissue, blood and fluid outside of our cells. That small percentage of calcium is vital for nerve, muscle and heart health. If there isn’t enough calcium present in our bodies, excavating cells known as osteoclasts begin to borrow it from our bones. The long-term effect makes bones porous instead of hard and dense. One of the primary ways to determine a problem is to take a bone mineral density test. According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, prevention includes a nutritious diet, an adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D, and regular weight-bearing activity, such as walking, climbing stairs or weight lifting. Additionally, vitamin K has been shown to increase bone density and reduce fractures.2 Omega-3 essential fatty acids also support bone density.3 A number of osteoporosis studies indicate that the internal microbiome plays a role in bone health and taking probiotics can increase bone mass.4

AIM Supplements for Healthy Bones

Supplementing with CalciAIM increases calcium intake from powder, not tablets or capsules. It makes an easily absorbed beverage that includes vitamin D, magnesium and zinc for nutritional assistance with calcium absorption. And each serving delivers a safe amount of calcium because the body can only absorb so much at one time. Nutritional help from AIM also includes whole-food powders such as BarleyLife and CoCoa LeafGreens, which provide a concentration of plant-based nutrients, including an incredibly rich source of vitamin K. Taking AIMega capsules delivers omega-3 from organic flaxseed for a plant-based source of essential fatty acids.

Celebrating with

AIM Products Shared by Joy Thompson

Little Adelia Thompson is just as passionate about the AIM products as her mom and recently turned 7 years old, she couldn’t wait to share her birthday cake recipe with everyone. I am thankful for AIM because it helps keep us healthy! My favorite AIM product is Garden Trio with Barely Life Xtra. I have been to a few AIM conferences and I liked talking on stage and seeing and talking with all the people. I like to share the AIM products by telling people how to get healthy and some of them taste sweet. I help my parents with the AIM business by playing with and helping keep my little brother quiet when Mommy is on the phone. And I like to put the stickers and stamps on the envelopes when we do mailings. I want to encourage other kids to stay healthy by taking AIM products every day and don’t eat too much sugar. My 7 year old birthday cake was made with all natural sweetener and it’s my favorite!

Circulation and Energy

CELL ENVIRONMENT

The natural vegetable nitrate in beets is a current focus of research because the body converts it to nitric oxide. You can think of nitric oxide as a natural vasodilator, meaning it relaxes blood vessels and makes them wider. The result is improved circulation throughout the body. Doctors often prescribe vasodilating drugs for high blood pressure, so studies that show beet juice as a natural way to increase nitric oxide levels, lower blood pressure and improve circulation are certainly receiving a lot of attention.

AIM BIG for Nitric Oxide

During the 2019 Celebration in Orlando, Phillip Jermann, AIM QA Manager and Biologist, circulated among 10 AIM Members to thermally measure blood circulation in their hands before and after taking RediBeets, a juice powder that delivers impressive amounts of beet nitrate. The results were equally impressive, showing improved blood flow in everyone tested.

Royal Emerald Director Gene Blasingame did some testing with RediBeets during the Celebration and afterward using a device, which produces a signal that helps improve impaired pumping movements of tiny blood vessels. As Gene related, “The device by itself does not measure up to the effects of RediBeets. Gene also combines the nitric oxide benefits of RediBeets with Peak Endurance. Phillip emphasized its importance for ATP, noting that it improves blood flow just like nitric oxide but levels of both decrease as we age. ATP is our energy molecule that is produced in the mitochondria of our cells. Nitric oxide helps fuel mitochondrial production of ATP, so RediBeets and Peak Endurance go hand in hand with increasing energy and improving circulation.

Staying

Positive By Ilze van Pletzen - AIM Director

We are celebrating 27 years of Marriage and AIM forms a vital part of our foundation on a daily basis. We start and end every day with the AIM products. This is a very uncertain time for us. My husband is having chemo for the second time but still taking his AIM products. He feels that the nutrition from AIM products gives his body a fighting chance and is playing a part in his not losing weight and being able to continue working. We prefer to focus on the positives in our lives and that includes the use of AIM products. But more than that, for me as a caregiver, it is great to be part of the AIM business and to be surrounded by the AIM family. They encourage and support me in many ways.

We use the following products: BarleyLife; FloraFood; Just Carrots; RediBeets; Prepzymes; AIMega; Composure; Cocoa Leaf Greens; fit n fiber; Herbal Fiberblend; GinkgoSense; Herbal Release; Proancynol 2000; CalciAIM; ProPeas; Para 90; Frame Essentials; Renewed Balance and Peak Endurance.

I love AIM, my AIM family and that I am able to be part of something that impacts people’s lives in a positive way. We are a family of 6, 7 cats and 4 dogs and we are all benefiting!

PERSONAL PRODUCTIVITY

Great start to my AIM Journey By Esme Pretorius - AIM Group Builder

What a wonderful journey this has been so far. My AIM journey started in the middle of February 2020. The reason for me registering with AIM was just to purchase supplements. I was very sick with a very weak immune system. From my past experiences I know how important a well formulated supplement is to the body. I really searched through a lot of products before deciding to try AIM. I started taking Herbal Fibreblend and Composure and was able to see a huge improvement in my chronic pain. I was able to sleep a good 8 hours at night without waking up with pain and nausea. People in my sphere of influence also sow the difference in me so it was easy to get them to try the AIM products. Being a nurturing mother at heart, my hubby, children and grandchildren are all on AIM products now. I was very surprised to receive a rebate in my first month by becoming a Preferred Member. And that lit the fire for my AIM business.

My Goal is to talk to one person about AIM every day. The excellent support and quick deliveries made it even easier. The feedback without delay for my daily questions and advice from my amazing uplines added to my successful start up. Being a part of the Chrysalis platform has been extremely helpful. The info and support are so valuable and the people are inspirational and embrace me as part of the AIM family. Thank you AIM, my sponsor and her upline, and everybody who has helped me in changing my life. The Lord heard my cry and sent this health and wealth opportunity along my path.

Lung Health and

Nutrition By Charlotte Meschede - Nutritionist

Lung health and nutrition is mostly an overlooked topic. One doesn’t naturally think of diet as being a factor in maintaining lung health. However, in view of the recent worldwide events, it is time to look at factors that may or may not help the lungs become more resilient. The

Mediterranean

Diet has been found to be very beneficial in maintaining respiratory health. This is a diet consisting primarily of fresh, whole foods, an emphasis on plant foods such as vegetables, fruit, wholegrains, legumes, nuts and seeds. There is a moderate intake of dairy foods as well as fish and poultry and a much lower intake of red meat than the average Western diet includes. High intakes of olive oil indicate that the overall diet is low in saturated fat, but high in mono-saturated fats, which have an anti-inflammatory effect as opposed to the pro-inflammatory effect of the fat found in meat and most fast foods as well as the massively high sugar intake from processed foods. Studies in both children and adults showed that eating a diet that is high in salt and fast foods such as hamburgers and fries was associated with a worsening of asthma and an increase in inflammation of the airways. Research has also indicated that diets containing fresh fruit and vegetables, in particular green leafy vegetables, was associated with a lower incidence of wheezing. A diet that is high in fresh vegetables and 14

May - Jun 2020 / to order call 011-675-0477

fruit has also been associated with a lower risk of asthma in both adults and children.

Omega-3

fatty acids and those

fats found in fatty fish such as sardines, mackerel and salmon, are also indicated in creating a less inflammatory environment in the lungs. Eating fatty fish during pregnancy if the mother was asthmatic was also thought to be protective of her children getting asthma. An even greater area of concern is oxidative stress in the airways, which is caused by various factors such as pollution, airborne irritants (allergens) and other factors creating inflammation and damage to lung tissue. This is where the intake of antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, carotenoids and flavonoids which are abundantly present in fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds, green tea and cocoa will also help to protect against oxidative stress. Specific studies have shown that supplementation with these nutrients, in isolation as well as in combinations, have been found to reduce the

CELL FOOD

damage caused by inflammation in the respiratory passages of patients with chronic asthma. These antioxidants are particularly important in the diet of a pregnant woman who has asthma, not only for the reduction in her complications, but also in the risk of the baby developing asthma at a later stage.

Vitamin D once again, has also come to the fore, especially as many people show deficient levels of vitamin D in winter, particularly in the northern hemisphere where sunlight is at a minimum for several months of the year. Even in hotter countries like South Africa and Australia, vitamin D deficiency seems to be prevalent, possibly due to the overuse of sunscreens and/or people sitting in offices in daylight hours.

AIM Products and Nutrients for healthy lungs

Whilst there is no question that we cannot control all the factors that lead to issues, we can control what we eat. As I say in all the articles I write, there is no substitute for a healthy diet. However, in times such as these we can help to ensure that our bodies have the correct ammunition to deal with whatever comes at us. In terms of ensuring a greater anti-inflammatory environment, it is important to give our bodies the basic nutrients which help it to work at its optimal level.

AIM LeafGreens and BarleyLife are

concentrated sources of green leafy vegetables. I defy anyone who can honestly say that he/she eats enough green vegetables every day. Omege-3 fatty acids are sometimes also difficult to incorporate in an average diet. Not everyone likes to eat fatty fish, and oils containing essential fatty acids such as safflower oil, sesame oil and flax oil, so supplementing with AIMega does provide an insurance that at least these basic nutrient demands are met. Once again, AIM Proancynol provides a number of antioxidants that will also help to provide the deficit caused by over-processed foods as well as foods that are grown in nutrient-depleted soils.

CalciAIM provides a valuable source of available calcium as well as other minerals and vitamins such as magnesium, zinc and vitamin D. A must for everyone who suspects their vitamin D, calcium and other mineral intake is inadequate. In recent years, much has also been researched with regard to the effect of ‘good’ bacteria, not only in the gut but all over the body and the lungs are no exception. We all have resident bacteria and other pathogens in our bodies, some good and some bad. It is the balance between the two that helps to preserve health over the absence of disease. AIM FloraFood will provide some of these beneficial bacteria that are so crucial to our overall well-being.

The inner workings of

Fibre

The history of what is good and what is not good for you from a medical perspective has definitely had its misleading moments over the course of time This is especially true in regard to nutrition. One medical claim that misled people for nearly two centuries is that fibre is not important for maintaining your health. From the early 1800s, this essential nutrient—although not everyone agrees it’s essential or a nutrient—was termed crude fibre because it was indigestible: no energy or health benefits provided. Even the word “crude” hints at something negative about fibre. Nothing could be further from the nutritional truth.

Fibre Man

Since the 1970s, it has been Dr. Denis Burkitt who is primarily associated with bringing the healthy facts about fibre to light1. Based on his observations working as a missionary surgeon in Africa, Burkitt noted that his patients had high-fibre intakes and did not suffer from modern health problems common to the West. A prime example is coronary heart disease, which was pretty much nonexistent in Uganda where Burkitt was

16

May - Jun 2020 / to order call 011-675-0477

based. It is now the leading cause of death worldwide. The observations and writings of Dr. Burkitt brought focus to the idea that diets low in fibre also increase the risk of many other health problems. Today, in countries where a “Western Diet” of mostly processed or fast foods with high amounts of fat, salt and sugar is popular, most people get less than half of their daily recommended 25 grams of fibre for women and 38 grams for men. Dr. Burkitt’s patients were averaging close to 100 mg of fibre daily by primarily eating plants. Of course, fibre is only one of many beneficial nutrients found in plantbased food, providing countless natural nutrients that work at keeping a body healthy. In fact, the most recent research and studies offer a truly modern medical perspective: plant-based food may be the best medicine you can give your body.2

Upping Fibre Intake

Eating fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts will increase the amount of fibre you get. It’s great to have simple choices in life that make such a healthy difference. And when it comes to upping your intake with supplemental fibre, AIM offers natural choices that are simply great: Herbal Fiberblend and fit ’n fiber.

Herbal Fiberblend

The bottom line is that fibre is associated with bulking up stools to efficiently eliminate waste from the body. Herbal Fiberblend moves this necessary function into the realm of detoxification with carefully selected herbs blended with psyllium. Lockdown Stories

AIM Members have been staying healthy and active during the nationwide lock down, here are some of their stories.

AIM Naturally

Here’s to many more years of good health and wellness with The AIM Companies™. Thanks to AIM, we can still enjoy our AIM whole foods during lockdown.

We live outside Pretoria on a small holding, and I’m so grateful to be able to be outdoors in the sun and close to nature during this time. We are also so privileged to still be able to enjoy our AIM products! Cheers to AIM for making this possible for us.

Marna Dedekind, AIM Director, Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa

Although South Africa is in a 21-day lockdown and our country’s future is uncertain, especially for all the small businesses, I am living and practising gratitude. I am grateful for AIM. I am grateful for my health. I am grateful to be ‘locked down’ with freedom to move around, nature that takes my breath away, my loved one, my animals and the most delicious and wonderful products in the entire world that come from AIM. Thank you, AIM, for standing by us and being available to support us, in health and wealth.

My husband and I were first introduced to AIM products in 2010 by Mary-Ann Shearer. We finally signed up as Members in 2012, when I was pregnant with our son.

Christine Cilliers (AIM Preferred Member) and her sevenMeet

year-old daughter, Kay, who are from Rustenburg, North West, South Africa.

They thoroughly enjoy their AIM smoothies, but it is little Kay who is completely addicted to them. She can’t wait to have one every single day. The day just before lockdown, she went to her mommy’s salon. While Christine was busy with a client, Kay sold two canisters of BarleyLife to a client who was waiting in the reception area. Talk about an AIM ambassador! They are living the AIM brand: healthy, happy and together during quarantine.

I had an amazing pregnancy and used my AIM products throughout: BarleyLife, AIMega and RediBeets. After my son was born, we introduced him to BarleyLife at around 9 months old, and he would suck the powder off my finger. Now at 7 years old, he still eats a teaspoon of BarleyLife every morning. In addition, he takes AIMega and FloraFood daily. He is a big fan of the Garden Trio and, of course, CoCoa LeafGreens. My husband and I take our exercise and fitness seriously, and we include Peak Endurance and ProPeas in our day. I also use GinkgoSense and Renewed Balance. Here’s to many more years of good health and wellness with the AIM Companies™.

PERSONAL PRODUCTIVITY

To our AIM Family: We always look forward to coming together with you at AIM’s annual Celebration to provide the most upto-date corporate news, product and business training and welldeserved recognition. As you are all well aware, this year is extremely unusual due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Because our top priority is your health and safety, AIM decided to cancel the Clear 2020 Vision AIM Celebration in Branson, Missouri. The good news is that we were able to rebook the Chateau on the Lake Resort in Branson for 2021. Be sure to save the dates of next year’s Celebration: June 3 – 6, 2021. We appreciate everyone who had already registered for the 2020 Branson AIM Celebration. Please refer to the following for answers to some questions you may have: 1. I paid for my registration. Will I receive a refund? Yes! We are refunding all Members who paid for their registrations and notifying them by phone or email once their refunds have been processed. Can I use those contest earnings in 2021? Yes! We know you worked hard, so you will still have the opportunity to use your contest earnings. 3. Is AIM considering a virtual (online) event in 2020? Yes! Once we have worked out all the details, we will let you know. 4. What about my airline reservations? You will need to work directly with the airline. 5. Will there be a contest for the 2021 AIM Celebration? We are encouraging Members to use their Grow Cash Contest earnings to help pay their way to the 2021 AIM Celebration We will be providing you with updates via AIM’s website, email, commission statements and in the Living Well magazine as information becomes available, so please stay tuned. CELL ENVIRONMENT

Thank you By Julia Makoena

AIM!

I got pierced by a nail under my foot. I went to the hospital and spent 2 weeks there. I am living with diabetes and on the 30th of March 2019 I had to have my toes removed from my right foot. Later, I had to have my leg amputated as well. My cousin then told me that she spoke to her employer, who uses the AIM products, and suggested that I use the FloraFood. I bought one bottle and started to take it daily the following month. I changed my diet to include healthy food, avoided high sugar and unhealthy foods and tried to become more active. My wound slowly started healing and the doctor was very happy with the healing process. I still use Florafood and started taking BarleyLife as well. ’The pain has lessened tremendously and I feel much healthier! Thank you FloraFood!!
