Feeling & Looking
Healthy at Any Age
Last year, Members and Customers were introduced to AIM’s first nutricosmetic: BioVivify. This dietary supplement connects to a new global trend: taking supplements orally to enhance the appearance and function of skin, nails and hair as an adjunct to cosmetics. But the nutricosmetic ingredients have to be scientifically proven to be effective, an essential determination in the research and development of BioVivify before its release.
This global trend that stems from the beauty industry is also moving away from anti-aging toward the notion of pro-aging. Over 70 percent of 7,000 women surveyed in seven countries came to this realisation through a pandemic-induced sense of life’s fragility and a new appreciation for getting older.
It’s an enlightened concept to be sure. Instead of trying to look younger as they age, women are more concerned with having healthy-looking skin that radiates inner wellness. This change has created a focus on ingestible beauty, using nutricosmetics such as BioVivify to make visible improvements from within.
The fact is that BioVivify and all of the other AIM products have been introduced over the past 40 years to help people improve and maintain their health so that they feel and look healthy at any age.
Whole-food nutrition such as BarleyLife and CoCoa LeafGreens continues to work inner wonders for whole-body health. AIM offers natural health products for specific health improvements, including CalciAIM for bones, CellSparc 360 for the heart, Herbal Fiberblend for the digestive system, GinkgoSense for memory and vision, Proancynol 2000 for the immune system and Composure for stress relief.
And long before the concept of nutricosmetics came into being, AIMega was frequently described as an internal cosmetic that promotes healthy skin. With the addition of BioVivify to the product lineup, the trend at AIM is simply to continue supporting inner and outer wellness.

HAIR, SKIN & NAIL
By Charlotte Meschede - NutritionistHEALTH
Hair, skin and nail health reflect your inner health. Our skin, nails and hair are actually the outer fabric which houses our bodies. The healthier we are on the inside, the better our outside will look and feel, and vice versa.
The skin is the largest organ of the body. It covers about 1.8m2 of the total surface area of the average adult and comprises roughly 10% of the total body mass. The main function of the skin is to provide a barrier between the internal parts of the body and the environment. This barrier protects against ultraviolet (UV) radiation, chemicals, allergens, pathogenic (harmful) microorganisms and prevents loss of moisture.6
It’s relevant here to look at the basic structure of skin so we can understand how the various nutrients interact and contribute to healthy skin, hair and nails.
Apart from the obvious healthy food choices, let us examine specific nutrients, which impact the development of a supple, healthy-looking skin, also reflecting in hair and nail health.
Young-looking skin has long been the desire of all women and men for as long as civilization has existed, and the trillion-dollar cosmetic business testifies exactly to this. However, speak to any dermatologist or aesthetic doctor and they will tell you that, at most, topical products will contribute 30% or less to smoothness and youthfulness of skin.
The true integrity of the skin comes from what you put within!
Vitamin A and/or Beta Carotene - will help to restore skin integrity through damage and is integral in the skin’s immune system. It also keeps the skin moist. A deficiency of vitamin A can affect sight. Preformed vitamin A is an animalbased compound and is found in meat, poultry and dairy foods. On the other hand, provitamin A (carotenoids) is found in dark yellow, orange and red fruits and vegetables, it will then have to be converted to the retinoid form in order to be functional. Both forms of vitamin A are converted to retinol in the liver. The function of vitamin A in the skin is to help prevent formation of fine lines and wrinkles (great anti-aging compound) and it does through the stimulation of collagen production. Therefore, sagginess and lack of elasticity is improved when there is sufficient vitamin A in the diet. Carotenoids, which are referred to again in the section on phytochemicals, will help protect the skin from damage from environmental factors such as pollution and excessive sun exposure.3
Specific Phytochemicals - The term, phytochemicals, refers to a huge range of plant compounds covering antioxidants, flavonols, carotenoids, tannins, and resveratrol to name the most significant ones with regard to skin integrity. Like vitamin A and its derivatives, phytochemicals play a crucial role in photo-protection against UVR-induced skin photo-damage due to their UV-absorbing, antioxidant, melanin-modulating, and inflammation fighting properties.4,5
Essential Fatty Acids - need no introduction to the importance of skin health. Without the fatty bonds in the dermis and epidermis, the skin would be dull, dry and flaky. Anyone consuming a low fat or fat-free diet will inevitably experience the effects in their skin and hair. Fatty acids form part of the cell membrane that also holds water in so the stronger that barrier is, the better your cells can hold moisture. This results in plumper, younger looking skin. Sources of these essential fats include seeds, like flax, chia, sesame and pumpkin seeds. Fatty fish like mackerel and sardines and fruits like olives and avocados are also valuable sources for these essential nutrients.6
Vitamin C is essential for the formation of collagen fibres in the skin. These proteins are responsible for the firmness and suppleness of skin. The older one is, the less collagen is made and the result is an increase in the development of lines and wrinkles. In other words, your skin looks like it needs ironing!4,5
Vitamin D - The sunshine vitamin, which is activated by sunlight in the skin, is not just important for bone health. I can always tell if someone has low vitamin D levels, simply by the pallor of the skin. We tend to avoid the sun for fear of skin cancer, but sadly, we are also not exposing our skin sufficiently due to fears of skin cancer, which, although justified, then leaves us deficient in vitamin D unless this is supplemented in the diet. Like preformed vitamin A, vitamin D is fat-soluble, so needs to be eaten with food that contains some fat, in order for it to be absorbed from the gut.
Vitamin E - Similarly, to vitamins A and D, vitamin E is fat-soluble and requires fat for it to be absorbed. The primary function of vitamin E in the skin is as an antioxidant, thereby helping to reduce oxidation and other forms of damage through skin exposure to the environment. Food sources of vitamin E include plant oils, seeds, nuts and of course, fatty fish.
Zinc - Another mineral that is in short supply when it comes to a processed diet. Zinc can also be found in seafood (including shellfish) as well as whole grains and vegetables. Zinc boosts the immune system of the skin and is crucial to help the integrity of the skin.
Trace Elements such as selenium have been shown to help protect skin on excess exposure to sun. Food sources of selenium include pumpkin seeds and Brazil nuts, which is not a frequent choice by many individuals, so it is easy to understand why deficiencies of this valuable trace element can develop.
Water - Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate! Nothing will make a skin look worse than dehydration. Many beverages like tea and coffee replace water drinking. Whilst both tea and coffee may have some health benefits, it is important to note that the caffeine contained in both, acts as a diuretic, which as you all know by now, means that it makes you urinate more. If you do not replace these fluid losses with water, your body, and especially your skin will dehydrate. You should be drinking a MINIMUM of 1 ½ litres of water per day!
AIM BioVivify provides very powerful phytochemicals in the form of astaxanthin, as well as vitamin C and the amino acids (proteins) glycine, proline and lysine, which are integral in skin.

Walking Works
For those who struggle to maintain a gym membership by not actually going for regular workouts or for people who look at running as something they do only when being chased, here’s a comforting thought: evidence shows that walking for exercise can be a cardio workout as well as help you to lose weight.
People have two legs meant for walking, and it doesn’t require any special training to put one foot in front of the other and move forward. The idea is to move. The act of walking is proving to have numerous health benefits, both physical and mental.
Walking can clear the mind of clutter and stress, especially if you are able to immerse yourself in nature. Even strolling along city blocks on a regular basis is beneficial.
Couch potatoes take note: In 2019, a randomised control trial of sedentary employees showed that they experienced similar benefits on body weight, fat mass and body fat percentage from continuous or intermittent walking.1 It all adds up to heart-healthy, weight-reducing results just from walking.
Taking it up a notch are the people who look like they may have wandered off of a ski hill to walk around with poles in their hands: Nordic walkers. In June 2022, the Canadian Journal of Cardiology published a randomized control trial of patients with coronary heart disease. Those in the Nordic walking program experienced greater health improvements than those doing high-intensity training or moderate-to-vigorous training.2
Even if you are allergic to just the thought of exercise, don’t you think you should at least take a walk? References

Cardiovascular (aerobic) exercise means getting your heart, lungs and large muscle groups working. Walking at a speed of at least 2.5 miles per hour qualifies as cardio.3

Every Piddle Makes a
Puddle!
By Jenny Ann Brown - AIM Chairman’s Club DirectorI can clearly remember the breathless feeling of walking up to the podium the night we were inducted into AIM’s Chairman’s Club in 2003 in Hawaii – that was 20 years ago! My opening comments were: “Generally speaking, Bill is generally speaking” at that point, I was relieved of the microphone and it was safely held for me by the General Manager – just in case.
I joined AIM in April 1998, with Bill’s great encouragement, so this year in April we will celebrate our 25th AIM anniversary alongside our 53rd Wedding Anniversary.
Our Sponsor introduced me to Renewed Balance Cream, which gave me the support I needed all those years ago. After joining AIM and experiencing the benefits myself, it was easy to talk about the many wonderful products Bill and I were using that helped to support our immune systems. We truly are our own best customers, between us we regularly use 20 products, and others as needed.
It wasn’t without a lot of effort that my downline grew so fast. The foundational principle we used in those days was USSBT... which still works today!
Use the products, Share the products Sponsor others
Build strong relationships Teach others to do the same
I have always been a great believer in collecting “points” for rewards and AIM suits this need of mine right down to the 6th level!!!
The table below shows the dramatic effect that sustained sponsoring can have on a business. And each member in one’s network has a product ordering potential linked to points that will grow income. Even those who join as an AIM Customer just to get their products at a better price, add to the Group Volume Points.
REMEMBER - “every piddle makes a puddle!”
Note the difference between sponsoring two people who each sponsor two people down to the 6th level, ... Or ... Sponsoring 5 people who each sponsor 5 people etc., down to the 6th
level!! Now if each person actually did do this type of sponsoring, the difference in the numbers is phenomenal. It’s certainly worth giving it a shot!
Sponsoring involves ‘being responsible’ in a way for your downline Members. Answer questions, motivate them, hold meetings and congratulate them at each stage as they climb the AIM ladder.
When I joined AIM in 1998, I was involved with other network marketing businesses and it was when my AIM income (cheques in those days) were really noteworthy, that the decision was made to concentrate all my efforts on AIM. I was told that “you can’t ride two horses at once” and that sure resonated!
At the ripe old age of 73 - I envy those who have IT skills, as the possibilities are endless. In the good old days, we had to have a fax machine to receive our genealogy – and then it was only permitted once we qualified as a Director. There was no information at our fingertips like the website offers today. Now we have everything we need to run a business from home.
Our favourite products are The Garden Trio, Herbal Fiberblend (capsules of course!), CalciAIM, Florafood, Peak Endurance, Proancynol 2000 and now … to turn the clock back somewhat … BioVivify!!
In this business, I have made lifelong friends.
I’ve met fascinating people. We’ve travelled to distant lands for AIM conferences.
So, to sum it up, it is all about loving people. It’s about wanting to see them succeed in achieving health through the products and an income from the business. As they succeed – with one’s help, one’s own business grows and is sustained through friendship and caring. My most grateful thanks are to God for this amazing Company which has provided us with Health and Wealth and a motivation that has stood the test of time.
nutrition that works!
I’m so grateful for the AIM Head Office whose help is phenomenal.
I love the desire for constant improvement
“Kaisan” that the Owners, Kay and Dennis Itami hold dear.
How Stimulating!
One of Merriam Webster’s definitions for the word “stimulating” is “acting as a stimulant: producing increased energy or alertness.” The AIM products have been shown to be stimulating in the most natural ways possible. Going natural is fundamental in providing high-quality supplements that are safe to use because your body responds well to natural ingredients.
BarleyLife is a prime example of harnessing the energy-boosting nourishment that can be found only in young barley leaves. Over 6 cups of barley-leaf nutrition are delivered in just one tablespoon of BarleyLife, which has been increasing people’s overall energy for over four decades!
At the cellular level, CellSparc 360 increases energy production by providing energy-sparking coenzyme Q10, CoQ10 for short. Your body produces less of this antioxidant as the years go by, so taking CellSparc 360 helps counteract a deficiency. And that’s stimulating in the production of much needed body energy.
ProPeas increases energy and endurance with metabolism-boosting protein from peas, a vegan source of this essential macronutrient. Complimentary products to increase energy and enduranc include RediBeets with a nitricoxide boost, and Peak Endurance with ATP energy boost.
It is important to note that unlike most energy drinks, Peak Endurance does not contain caffeine as a stimulant. Adding sugar is also stimulating in an addictive way, so many of the most popular “sports” drinks contain upwards of 30 grams (or more!) of added sugar. By comparison, one serving contains a total of only 4 grams of sugar, and most of that comes from the red beets.
Increasing your energy level with natural ingredients from AIM can be a positively stimulating experience, and just one of the many reasons why it’s nutrition that works.
REAL ENERGY. REAL ATP.
What Is ATP?
ATP is the abbreviation of adenosine triphosphate, a molecule that stores and carries energy in your cells. As your body digests dietary intake, ATP captures chemical energy from the breakdown of food molecules. This energy currency powers metabolic reactions, transports required substances and facilitates the mechanics of muscle movement.
Re-energise with Peak Endurance
Taking Peak Endurance’s source of ATP gives you an energetic boost that helps you to keep moving through all levels of exertion. The formulation also replenishes six electrolytes, six B vitamins and vitamin C to Maximise the physical benefits of this dietary supplement.
The PEAK ATP® in Peak Endurance supplements your body’s production of cellular energy. Depleted during intense physical activity, ATP levels are also reduced over the years by the aging process.

The Benefits of
TOPICAL MAGNESIUM
By Charlotte Meschede - NutritionistMany of my patients are so tired of swallowing tons of pills and potions every day, that even a suggestion that they should investigate other possible deficiencies which may require intervention, is usually met with extreme resistance!
Whilst we are all familiar with the benefits of oral (by mouth) magnesium supplements, few are versed in the validity of topical or transdermal magnesium supplements. Since the skin is the largest organ in the body, it stands to reason that should magnesium be readily absorbed through the skin, then this would be an effective way of supplementing this vital mineral. The devastating effect that magnesium deficiency has on the body warrants this excursion into other ways of supplementing it. Poly-pharma (the taking multiple medications on a daily basis) is a factor in preventing some people from addressing this and other deficiencies through further supplementation. Add the expense of more pills and potions, that are NOT covered by medical aid, and the individual is simply not interested! Enter a relatively inexpensive, non-invasive form of regulating and managing a major mineral deficiency, then topical magnesium becomes an attractive option.
Another class of individuals that would benefit from topical magnesium therapy are athletes, who also spend an enormous amount of money and time on all sorts of supplements to not only promote and enhance performance, but also to make good the deficiencies created by such arduous training.
In addition, it is also understood that transdermal absorption of magnesium is improved over that of oral application due to fewer side effects as it bypasses the gastrointestinal tract.1
Why is Magnesium so important?
Magnesium contributes to a number of vital cofactors for more than 300 enzymatic reactions
My main question to patients on this subject is: “What does stress make YOU do?” or alternatively: “What do YOU do to give yourself comfort?”
Choosing ‘comforting’ foods like sweets, biscuits, cake, processed and/or fast foods, are known to be deficient in a number of essential nutrients, not least of which is magnesium. Magnesium is found in whole grain foods, like nuts, seeds dark green vegetables and even dark chocolate, but how many of us will see
Topical Magnesium - does this occur in nature?
So where did the idea of transdermal magnesium therapy come from? Interestingly enough, the Dead Sea, which is well renowned for its healing properties and receives millions of ailing people from all over the world every year, is exceptionally high in magnesium. It isn’t just the salt or sodium chloride content that has such value – it is the magnesium as well! Another geographical site for magnesium-rich waters is Bath in the United Kingdom. Well renowned for its healing spa baths, Bath waters are also very high in magnesium.1
AIM Mag-nificence
This incredible product provides magnesium in the form of magnesium chloride, which is one of the safest forms of magnesium, especially through absorption by the skin. The efficacy of using this product may be observed after using the product consistently. Many athletes have reported relief from aches and pains after vigorous training sessions. It is so simple to use and you don’t have yet another pill, bitter or otherwise, to swallow!

BioVivify - 60 vegan capsules
BioVivify /bio-VIV-ify/
The name of this dietary supplement combines the word bio meaning “life” and a derivative of the word vivificare, which in late Latin means “restore to life.” BioVivify bestows life renewed for your hair, nails and skin.
Astaxanthin
Pronounced asta-ZAN-thin, astaxanthin is BioVivify’s primary ingredient. This potent antioxidant is a red-pigmented member of the carotenoid family that provides diverse health benefits.
Sourcing Astaxanthin
Located in the Pacific Northwest, the AstaReal® company extracts astaxanthin from non-GMO, freshwater microalgae. Technicians handpick single cells of microalgae to grow cultures of quality cells that are nurtured in AstaReal’s fully enclosed, indoor photobiore actors. Under high illumination, the algae breaks down its green chlorophyll, turning it into red, astaxanthin-rich cells. Using a 100 percent solvent-free extraction method, the astaxanthin is isolated and concentrated into the finest source available for BioVivify
AstaReal® astaxanthin is the most clinically studied brand. Using servings of 2 to 12 mg of astaxanthin daily, six clinical studies demonstrated that astaxanthin increases collagen production and synthesis, supports skin hydration and smoothness, enhances skin elasticity and reduces fine lines. Each BioVivify serving provides 6 mg of AstaReal® astaxanthin.
bit.ly/AstaReal_Astaxanthin
Salmon get their orangey, pinkish or reddish colour from the consumption of small, algae-eating crustaceans. In the USA, the average yearly intake of astaxanthin from salmon is only 11 mg.
One canister of BioVivify provides 180 mg of astaxanthin!
Collagen’s Amino Acids and Vitamin C
Collagen is a protein that plays a pivotal role in skin structure and function. The amino acids L-proline, glycine and L-lysine and vitamin C are essential for the synthesis of collagen. The alpha-chain structures in collagen require the presence of L-proline and glycine while vitamin C is a cofactor in the hydroxylation of alpha chains, providing structure for collagen. L-lysine contributes to collagen’s tensile strength.
The Astaxanthin-Vitamin C Connection
Fibroblasts are specialized cells that synthesize collagen. Working synergistically, astaxanthin and vitamin C optimally protect fibroblasts from the oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen spetype of free radical that contains oxygen.

By Johann & Anna Andersen - AIM DirectorEver since Anna and I joined AIM in the late nineties, I was intrigued by the common sense of AIM’s Healthy Cell Concept (HCC). Aided by my scientific training as a consulting engineer, I engrossed myself in establishing the relevance of this concept to the maintenance of good health. What have cells got to do with the good health of my body?
The answer was much simpler than I had thought it would be. The good health of my body has everything to do with cells because that is what my body consists of! 30 trillion of them! That is three, followed by 12 noughts, an awful lot. Research has shown that these cells are replaced regularly. Each day about 330 billion cells, that’s close to 1 %, are replaced every day, by new cells! At the individual level, cell renewal happens at different rates in the body.
Cells in our colon, for instance, are replaced every three to five days, whilst our muscle and fat cells can take up to 70 years to renew. Skin cells replicate in two to four weeks, those of the hair in about six years for women and three years for men, liver cells are renewed from 150 to 500 days, stomach and intestine cells only 5 days whilst bone cells could take 10 years for full replication.
Why we age despite all the cell renewal taking place all the time has all to do with mutations that take place in our DNA as our cells replicate over time. DNA is packaged into chromosomes which reside in the nucleus of every cell.
Fortunately, it is not necessary to delve into all the intricacies of cellular research to realise that for a healthy body, it follows if I wish to have a healthy body I should keep my cells healthy, as
best as I can. That, in a nutshell, is what AIM’s unique Healthy Cell Concept is all about, namely applying its five components, cell food, cell exercise, cell environment, cell protection and a positive attitude.
In all the years of our membership, we were impressed by the integrity of AIM’s products and its compliance with the HCC. Outside your faith, life does not have guarantees and remains fragile. However, surveying the scenery around us, our friends are all progressively of a younger age, we are grateful that at respectively 86 and 94, we are doing well, experiencing the loving attentiveness and care of our children and appreciating the role which AIM’s products play in our wellness. With the support of AIM’s products, Anna remains active with daily house chores, crossword puzzles and reading, whilst I go on short walks, reading, potter in the garden, check on the politicians in the newspaper and do my sudoku - and thanks to power sharing, we watch less tv!
The value of the HCC came true to me when some 30 months ago, due to a freak accident, I experienced a multiple femur fracture requiring an operating procedure with a pin inserted and everything held together with screws. Following the physiotherapist’s instructions and with the
Healthy Cells for a Healthy Body!
wonderful home care provided by my daughter and family, I recuperated. Initially, I was bedridden, then progressed to using a walker, followed by crutches and then only one crutch before I could finally walk on my own. All went quite well, with the daily intake of the AIM products administered by Anna in accordance with our daily regime. Then there was a relapse and it was as if the progress in my mobility came to an end. The answer became clear when my daughter, also an ardent user of BarleyLife, ascertained that I had stopped doing my prescribed physio exercises. She admonished me and got me back on track. The value thereof soon showed results and in less than a week my mobility was regained and lost ground regained. The importance of exercise for healthy cells, was learned the hard way and what I had been teaching others also applied to me! The lesson was that all the components of the HCC work synergistically and each has its place in ensuring that healthy cells keep the body in good shape.
The products that we use are many. Most of them are used on a regular basis. Every morning I make a 500ml smoothie which we find very enjoyable. Instead of purified water, I would use left-over rooibos tea and add the following:
• Two scoops of AIM powders (premixed BarleyLife, ProPeas, Peak Endurance and CalciAIM)
• 1 slice of lemon
• 1 slice of raw ginger
• 1 slice of celery,
• whatever fruit we have available
Together with the smoothie, daily, unless indicated otherwise, we use the following products, each exemplarily serving the five avenues of the HCC:
AIMega, BioVivify (Anna), Frame Essentials, GarlicAIM, CellSparc 360 (Anna), ReAassure SP (Johann), Renewed Balance (Anna), Herbal Fiberblend, PrepZymes, FloraFood occasionally
as dictated by digestive needs, Herbal Release (weekly alternated), CranVerry+ (Anna), GinkoSense, Composure occasionally.
In general, the AIM products all work synergistically in support of the health of the cells, and therefore body health.
A snippet which you might find of value: Cell replication: Brain cells: Until only recently it was generally accepted that the number of brain cells we are born with, is fixed and that the central nervous system, including the brain, was unable to regenerate.
This was the view until neuroscientists led by Professor Perry Bartlett discovered stem cells in a part of the human brain. As stem cells can divide and differentiate into many types of cells, this finding has shown that previously held views regarding the replication of brain cells were incorrect.
Furthermore, it is now thought that the hippocampus part of the brain, which is associated with learning and spatial memory and which shrinks with age, can be stimulated to reverse such shrinkage and loss of memory by exercise. Thus, the importance of the exercise leg of AIM’s Healthy Cell Concept is also important for the body’s brain health.
AIM’s GinkoSense, together with RediBeets, Peak Endurance and BarleyLife as an exceptional source of cell food for the functioning of the body, comes to mind as products to support healthy brain cells.
