The ratification for the Student Government Association at APSU was held on Friday, April 4. Ele c tions for v ar iou s positions in the SGA took place from Tuesday, April 1, to Thursday, April 3. The SGA Executive Council Officers for 2014-2015 are: Zac Gillman— President, Daniel Pitts—Vice President, and Brena Andring— Secretary. “This year’s executive council has done an excellent job,” said Dean of Students Greg

Robbery Police investigate robbery behind Castle Heights

On Friday, April 4, a student was allegedly robbed in the parking lot behind Castle Heights. The victim reported the suspects were armed with two handguns. The victim said the suspects took his money and some personal belongings. The victim described the suspects as three black males in a red Honda Accord. The investigation is ongoing, and Campus Police encourages students to take extra precautions when walking on campus, especially at night. A 5K and a one-mile fun run was held on Saturday, April 5, to help raise breast cancer awareness and research funds. The 5K marathon began at 8 a.m. in front of the Foy Center and wound its way past College Street and Marion Street. The one-mile run began at 8:30 a.m. and took the runners around campus. APSU began getting involved in these races four years ago to support the cause outside of October, the official breast cancer awareness month. Last year, the run raised over $3,000 for the American Cancer Society. “Our goal is to raise awareness about breast cancer and donations to benefit the American C ancer S o ciety ” said Lauren Wilkinson, the a s s i s t a nt d i re c to r o f services at the Foy Center. “And, of cours e, for participants to have fun ...” According to the Centers for Dis e a s e Control, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, regardless of race or ethnicity (excluding some skin cancers).
