Loretta Quinn was born in Hobart Tasmania. Loretta is a Melbourne based artist and been living and working in Melbourne since 1981. Loretta has exhibited in over 80 group exhibitions and has held 17 Solo Exhibitions. To date Loretta has public sculptures in prominent locations in Melbourne. The premier piece of work is a 6 metre bronze sculpture Beyond the Ocean of Existence, located at the corner of Flinders Lane and Swanston Street Melbourne. (This work is currently in storage
MCC). Another popular public sculpture is a bronze sculpture titled Within Three Worlds located in Princes Park Carlton Vic.
She has been the recipient of numerous awards and funding grants. Quinn’s work is represented in collections nationally and internationally, including the National Gallery of Australia Canberra, Melbourne City Council, University of Tasmania, City of Port Phillip, Australian Bicentennial Authority. Her work has been reviewed, illustrated and published in leading newspapers and periodicals throughout Australia and overseas.
In 2007 she held a major Survey exhibition LORETTA QUINN A Decade of Sculpture at Stonington Museum of Art, Deakin University Malvern Victoria. In 2011 Loretta held a major Survey Exhibition at the Glen Eira City Council Gallery, titled Silentium. She has also been employed as a lecturer and teacher in Sculpture at Victorian Universities since 1985. These include the Victorian College of the Arts, Phillip Institute of Technology, Monash University, Melbourne University and RMIT University.
