Mary van den Broek Focusing on play, numbers and communication are subjects for exploration in Her works. By working towards playing together in our world, she hopes we can achieve more than in isolation and fear of other. In 2021 she completed a commission for an exhibition on Institutional child abuse incorporating the loud fence campaign, held at Ballarat Art Gallery and then touring child abuse hot spots around Australia (It was scheduled for August 2021 but post-phoned due to Covid 19)

Spheniscidaes Waddle uses a material commonly used for fabricating heating flue concealer panels in a new penguin shape to draw attention to the possible future survival of penguins and other species that prefer a cooler climate, including humans.

Mary van den Broek C.V. Bachelor Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) 1979 Honours Fine Art (Sculpture) Ballarat University, 2009 Residency at Imagine Gallery Beijing Feb/March 2011 Master of Fine Art, RMIT Melbourne 2014 Mary has worked as an Occupational Therapist in the past and has been pursuing Sculpture for over 20 years, making and exhibiting work in solo and group exhibitions. She won the emerging artist prize at the Melbourne Flower and Garden Show in 2009 and the Dalchem prize in 2012 and 2015 at the Annual Awards of the Victorian Sculpture Society.
