TITLE OF THE PROJECT: Kazuyo Sejima House, Arhiopolis Location: Timisoara Year: 2016

The purpose of this project was to design a hypothetical house for the Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima starting from an individual study carried out regarding her most iconic works, with the purpose of identifying the basic architectural principles that define them. The main feature of the project is the use of curved surfaces, where walls simply meld and create a fluid space that leads to the most intimate part of the site, the interior, the ideal place for living, studying and working. The single-roomed building resembles a sanctuary, a protective introverted place that can hardly be accessed from the public space, but is

widely open to the landscape. The building perfectly matches the terrain configuration, but unlike many of Sejima”s works, that tend to be perceived as objects, this one is strongly related to its adjacent houses. The atmosphere is created by different brick matchings(more or less light-penetrable) and also by differences in wall hights. The inward spatial configuration reminds of a sea conch that shelters the artifact that summarizes the global idea of the house. The artifact is a sculpture by Constantin Brancusi, “The Newborn”.

Urban Analysis Team: Birlan Maria Magdalena, Chindris Andrei Location: Timisoara Year: 2016

Being one of the most important studies in the development of students’ architectural thinking, this analysis was intended to determine a scientific approach to the principles that govern urban planning. It put emphasis on identifying similar urban configurations in two different cities, considering the most important gestalt principles. Using a panoptic approach, it was

easy to recognize types of urban organization and composition, different densities or even the accidents that occur and alter the regular patterns. Then, all this information had to be expressed through a series of atmospheric sketches, perspectives that could create a more plausible image of those specific locations.

These four images are examples for one of the criteria that were used in the analysis, the type of urban texture: the first two images represent an organic tissue, where built environment prevails,

while the last two represent a geometric tissue where the open space prevails. This kind of graphic representation is related to Giambattista Nolli’s Rome map.

TITLE OF THE PROJECT: Stalker’s House Location: Timisoara Year: 2017

The purpose was to design a house for a fictional character, be it from a book or from a movie, in this case the Stalker, Andrei Tarkovsky’s famous movie character, taking into consideration some of his main personal features. Thus, the mission was to create an introverted house, where the character could take shelter from the outside world, in which he is compelled to go in order to make his living. There is a firm delimitation between the inward public and private spaces, confirming once more his inability to accustom to the world. Perhaps the most private space of the house is the garden, that is somehow equivalent to the Zone in the movie, the ideal place where he can truly be himself.

House Analysis - T&G House, Nicolas Campodonico Team: Buzgau Florin, Chindris Andrei Location: Timisoara Year: 2017 The aim of the study was to determine which are the main characteristics of T&G House by analyzing its plans, sections and elevations. One of the most important phases was the identification of composition principles that can

be found for each of the above-mentioned parts. They were subsequently transformed into essentialized collages, the main elements being represented by points, lines or planes
