HUSTLE AND HEART

After a break due to the pandemic, The Arbutus Club Minor Hockey Association is back together on the Main Rink for a new season

The Arbutus Club Minor Hockey Association is back in action for the 2021-2022 Minor Hockey Season. With the previous year being a complete wash for game action, it has been refreshing to have players on the ice and parents in the stands cheering on our Avalanche teams. Seeing the reunions after a year of an empty rink has really showed that being within our Minor Hockey Association is much more than just about hockey; we're a community.

Information for the upcoming season is available in the Recreation Services Programs Brochure at arbutusclub.com. If you require further information please contact Jason Fothergill, Minor Hockey Director, at jfothergill@arbutusclub.com.

Hockey, a Sport for a Lifetime

The friendships that are formed can last a lifetime. Playing the game and hanging out before and after is what it is all about. Unlike many other Minor Hockey Associations that are much larger, where players are moving around team to team, members within our program get the unique opportunity to create a bond that is tough to match since they have played together on the same teams for years. Not only are the players in our program able to create friendships and memories, so is our parent group. Long term friendships at the Club begin with someone you may have never known until you watched a Minor Hockey game together. From cheering rink side, to a beverage and an appetizer in The Lounge, it not only makes watching the game exciting, but you get to do it with friends that you met at the rink.

Our Graduating Players

One of the truly unique stories we hear is from our graduating players who move along to different colleges and universities all around the world. Yet when they return for summer break, the first people they call are their “hockey buddies” to get together for some open hockey. Case and point; when we held a graduating game this past summer for our players that missed out on their final season, the response was outstanding. While the action on the ice was nothing but smiles and good banter, when you looked rink side there were just as many parents with similar exuberance and conversation. It illustrates that being part of The Arbutus Club Minor Hockey Associaton is simply more than just hockey; it is all about family and friends.
