The Arts Centre Gold Coast Subscription Season 2013

Page 1

Your City. Your Centre. Your Season.

Welcome note We are thrilled to present our 2013 Subscription Season. This year, we’ve handpicked dance, theatre and music from around Australia and the globe that we know you’ll love. Not only is the program diverse, but it brings outstanding cultural experiences to our stage, to enjoy in our city. The Gold Coast is fast becoming a hot spot on the cultural map. We are gaining a reputation as both an incubator for local talent, and a must-visit destination for reputable touring companies. We’ve already celebrated many milestones, including first time presentations from world-class companies such as Bangarra Dance Theatre and Sydney Dance Company. In 2013, for the first time on the Gold Coast, we welcome Opera Australia’s Oz Opera with the highly acclaimed Don Giovanni. We’ll also see why European audiences have been rising to their feet for Cuba’s Ballet Revolución, which was included in the Royal Variety Performance 2012. And on the subject of royalty, we host the beloved soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa in an intimate recital of exquisite classics. We’ll also bring you another hilarious Williamson satire and welcome back Bell Shakespeare, Circa and DanceNorth. These productions and more will be presented in Your City, at Your Centre, as Your Season. Brad Rush

Physical theatre at its best! - Sydney Morning Herald

The Arts Centre Gold Coast presents

The Comedy Of Errors A Bell Shakespeare and State Theatre Company of South Australia co-production

What’s real and what’s not?

Sharp banter and comical word-play lure us into a contemporary world where Shakespeare’s characters are reinvented, individuality is fluid, and bigger themes lie just below the surface.

Wed 17 Jul, 7.30pm & Thu 18 Jul, 11.00am When two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, both end up in the same shifty, transitory port-town of Ephesus fully grown, we join them on their bizarre journey of reconciliation.
