WELCOME Musical lovers, you’re in for a treat! We’re thrilled to bring you a top-notch romantic-comedy musical production in April – They’re Playing Our Song (p.20). Developed by some of Broadway’s finest artists including writer Neil Simon (Sweet Charity), composer Marvin Hamlisch (A Chorus Line) and lyricist Carole Bayer Sager (Don’t Cry Out Loud), and with a truly standout Australian cast, this is a show not to be missed. Ever since our team saw the pitch for Animal Farm (p.24), they’ve been busting to see this production. Animal Farm is one of the most controversial and studied political commentaries of all time and this production from shake & stir theatre co breathes new life into George Orwell’s classic tale. The Gallery will be busy in April and May, when the Evangelion Art Exhibition (p.9) opens in conjunction with QPOW! See how the famed Evangelion anime film series came to life, from original concept to production art. Kids can join in the fun with Manga workshops. The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award also returns this year (p.6). This highly-anticipated annual award is one of the richest acquisitive photography prizes in Australia and a definite must-see exhibition. We are pleased to once again work with Queensland Theatre Company to present both the Junior Residency (p.33) for Gold Coast theatre enthusiasts aged 8 – 13 years and the Young Actors Studio (p.35) for the Gold Coast’s serious young actors aged 14 – 18 years. As part of our ongoing commitment to nurture local talent, participants will learn vital skills about succeeding in the performing arts industry. See you at the show.

WELCOME
