This workshop gives you the opportunity to find out! While using fabric paint, you will learn how to paint and draw on silk to create silk scarves, pillowcases, and many other decorative items. Unlike dyes, this paint sets on fabric by the application of heat (ironing), so painted items can be worn or washed. The paint can be applied in washes or more opaquely depending on the item and the desired translucency - it can also be used with precision to create sharp details. Join us to discover all the possibilities!

URBAN SKETCHING
Marilyn Rose 19U WKS571: Monday, Jun 24, 9:15 AM to 3:15 PM 1 session $150 Material fee $10 No senior discount or membership fee All levels Urban sketching has become a popular pursuit. Our area is a great place to get started; we have a variety of people and activities to watch, and beautiful architecture. We’ll use a “scribble and refine” approach to drawing, with a simple ink pen, to build confidence. Practice how to really "see" what’s in front of you, and capture it on the page, by looking at shapes, not objects. Explore the spaces and connections between things. Adding words, collage and color will help you learn to fill the page and create a visual diary of the world around you - then you’re on your way to recording the story of your life through sketches! A sketchbook and pen will be provided; feel free to bring any other supplies you might like to embellish your pages (watercolors, glue, inks, crayons, colored pencils, etcetera). No previous experience necessary.
