Welcome to Bass Performance Hall. On behalf of the Performing Arts Fort Worth staff and Board of Directors, I thank you for joining us.

Tonight, on this very special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we celebrate another icon of the civil rights movement with The Music of Sam Cooke, part of our Irwin Steel Popular Entertainment Series . This fantastic new show starring Bradd Marquis is more than a tribute to the King of Soul – it’s a lesson in both the music and the life of one of America’s most influential performers.

Not only was Cooke a pioneer for his vocal ability and his skill blending elements of multiple genres into one distinct sound, but also for his appeal to both Black and White audiences across generations. From Aretha Franklin, to Al Green, Stevie Wonder and so many more, Cooke’s influence persists in music today. Tonight, I hope we all leave reminiscing on some of our favorite hits and reflecting on the lasting legacy of figures like Sam Cooke.

Next up at the Hall, get ready for another lesson in soul music this Black History Month with Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations. Then in March, we welcome the return of two Bass Hall favorites: Americana-legend Robert Earl Keen for one night only and the world’s most popular musical Les Misérables, plus the uproarious new play based on the classic board game, Clue.

Visit www.basshall.com to learn more about all of the exciting shows coming up and to secure your seats for your next visit with us. Soon, it’ll be that time again to announce our 2025-2026 Broadway at the Bass Season presented by PNC Bank – be on the lookout as we plan to announce in the coming months!

As always, thank you to all of our sponsors and donors for their generous contributions and continued support. Now, please help me welcome to Bass Hall The Music of Sam Cooke starring Bradd Marquis!

Our People are Our Strength

For more than 70 years, Irwin Steel has built a reputation for fabricating difficult jobs, from hospitals to football stadiums, with many large-scale projects in between. Sound management, excellent customer and employee relationships, and a sharp sense of pride in quality and workmanship all contribute to our continued success.

By bringing the arts into the lives of our residents, we connect on all levels using music as a key to successful and personalized dementia care.

As a not-for-profit organization, James L West has been providing expert care for those living with dementia and support for their caregivers for over 30 years.

Until there is a cure, we are here to care.
