A report on Entertainment Weekly confirms that their divorce has been put on hold as neither parties are working on it. Perhaps it’s their relationship that the couple might be working on? Said a source, “It’s true that the divorce is not moving forward right now. They

are taking a breather and seeing what happens.” Another insider has claimed

that the couple want to be completely sure they make the right decision, hence the divorce is put to halt. “They don’t take divorce lightly and want to make sure they are doing the right thing,” says a source. Petition to ban regressive TV show

An online petition has been launched demanding an immediate ban on Pehredaar Piya Ki. The TV show revolves around a 10-year-old boy married to a 20-plus woman. The drama has been receiving a barrage of criticism, since it went on air last month for its regressive and bizarre content. The petition on change.org was started by an angry viewer, Mansi Jain, who has urged Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani to ban the show. Jain’s petition has received more than 50,000 signatures. The show’s makers claim the story is about a rare bond.

Toilet – Ek Prem Katha Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s film gives out a strong message with some light moments in the first half Toilet has a weak and shaky second half. It is so stretched and agonisingly painful that you just might take multiple loo breaks before the end credits roll in. The makers go overboard in ensuring the commercial viability of the film by putting in too many songs and dramatic face offs post interval. Keshav and Bhumi who felt real and empathetic in the first half

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a satirical romantic comedy, starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the movie is based in the issue of lakh of toilet facilities leading to open defecation that is still happening in many parts of the country. Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan campaign also plays a major factor in the story. While the message that the movie intends to deliver is fine, will it really mesh well with the review? The storyline of Toilet Ek Prem Katha is no mystery. Based on a true story of a woman leaving her husband after his family refuses to construct a toilet for her, this Akshay Kumar – Bhumi Pednekar drama tries to build up a narrative around the incident and lace it with light moments. Akshay plays Keshav the husband whose father believes in every superstition and religious occult in the book. Bhumi who plays Jaya is his nemesis, an educated girl who stands out like a fish out of water in a village where women organise ‘Lota Parties’ to defecate in the open and discuss their marriage woes. The clash between Keshav and Jaya goes beyond ideologies and comes down to basic beliefs and values. Their idea of hygiene and sanitation is based on the principles their parents have instilled in them. Jaya refuses to live with Keshav until he constructs a toilet in his house while the villagers and elders believe that doing so is an open challenge to age old morals and religious doctrines. Toilet Ek Prem Katha is an attempt to make a full length film out of a 15 minute public service announcement, which is why it feels so stretched and invariably long in the second half. However there are a few redeeming factors that make Toilet worth a watch. Let’s find out what. Akshay Kumar has aced versatility like no one else. His choice of films and the characters he’s played over the last few years have showcased that he can approach any subject with utmost dedication. With Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Akshay uses his natural charm to his advantage making Keshav likeable. Despite the gaping holes in the script and over the top preachy monologues, Akshay keeps you engaged with his act. His scenes with his father and the outburst in front of the villagers are the highlight. But the star of the film for me was Bhumi Pednekar. She makes Jaya seem real not just superficially with the dialect and look, but her agony, pain and anger is utterly relatable. You don’t necessarily have to be from a small town or village to empathise with her. Bhumi also holds her ground in several big scenes with Akshay. Having established the fact that he’s playing an older man their pairing doesn’t look weird. Ample research has gone down in ensuring the film touches upon the right facts and figures and most of this information is downright shocking. Toilet is an important film solely because it addresses such a basic issue that has been veiled under the lace of social embarrassment. Also full marks to the dialect coaches of ensuring all characters are in sync with their accents.

Also the message of the film could have been a 15 minute public

But to have a two and half hour long film about sanitation and defecation problems starts losing its sheen on the entertainment quotient. The songs like I mentioned don’t really add any value to the story neither do they help the tempo of the film.

While fans and family are excited for Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra’s Aashiqui 3, the actress doesn’t seem very pumped up for the same. A report in Mumbai Mirror has stated that the petite diva isn’t very keen on doing the film but has only accommodated it due to sentimental reasons. Comes as a shock, doesn’t it? She may have given her word on this project but Alia isn’t excited for the project. With projects like Dragon with Ranbir Kapoor, Gully Boy with Ranveer Singh and Raazi with Vicky Kaushal, the actress is all the more apprehensive of doing Aashiqui 3. While the actress still has the entire 2018 to make an informed decision about whether she will comply to this project or if she will back out, we wonder what are Sidharth’s thoughts on this. Does he feel the same? Buzz about Sid and Alia doing Aashiqui 3 started last year itself however, it was confirmed earlier this year. Mahesh Bhatt himself stated that both the actors will be a part of the venture. On the same, filmmaker Mohit Suri even commented, “It’s a loved franchise but it should come back for the right reason, which is the script. I would’ve made ‘Aashiqui 2’ even if it would’ve been

called ‘RJ ki ek love story’. I wanted to make the film badly and tell the story. You shouldn’t make a film because you want to capitalise on a title. You can get the film to the audience but you can’t make them like it. I can lose everything I built with ‘Aashiqui 2’ by making a bad ‘Aashiqui 3’.” Good news is the film will definitely be made, in time. Bad news? Well, we wonder if will do the project or get caught up with her offers. With the kind of magic created by Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, we’re certain that even Sidharth and Alia will match up to it. However, it’s only possible if the other elements like music and storyline, falls in place. You see, the biggest sellout for both the parts have been the music and the intoxicating chemistry. Even Mukesh Bhatt agrees to that as he had stated, “The Aashiqui franchise is a labour of love which was created by my brother, Mahesh Bhatt, Shri Gulshan Kumar and myself back in 1990. Our association for the movies with T-Series has been a proud and dear one, and will continue being so for Aashiqui 3. This is a partnership between Vishesh Films and T-Series only and we are very excited to continue this journey with them.”

Salman Khan has a plan for Tiger Zinda Hai which will make people forget about Tubelight With the way 2017 has shaped up, Bollywood is in deep soup. Its regular winners are falling flat at the box office. Salman Khan‘s Tubelight and Shah Rukh Khan‘s Jab Harry Met Sejal have left the industry badly bruised. While we don’t know how SRK is coping with the failure, Salman seems to have a plan which will help everyone erase the memory of Tubelight. He has a plan for Tiger Zinda Hai that the director Ali Abbas Zafar has to stick to. He wants the film to be as massy as it can be. Salman wants TZH to be as commercial as a movie can be. He wants everything that his fans expect from him. In his last few films, he tried to be different from the usual and the outcome wasn’t as great. While Bajrangi Bhaijaan made his fans demand National Award for him, Tubelight backfired. Hence, Salman has apparently instructed Ali to make TZH as commercially viable as possible. Right now, he wants to play to the gallery, PERIOD!

It wouldn’t be difficult, we feel, because Ek Tha Tiger had already set the template for it. The first film had every blockbuster element that a Salman Khan film has. The actor feels that the film will be his redemption at the box office this Christmas and wants to make sure everything is done properly.

FARHAN Akhtar’s love for music is well-known — the actor has crooned several numbers in his previous outings, Rock On (2008), Rock On 2 (2016) and Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), among others. Akhtar has now tried his hand at a cappella for the song Ek Kabootar, Do Kabootar from his forthcoming film, Lucknow Central, where he plays a jailbird. A cappella is essentially a style of singing, solo or group, without any instrument accompaniment. Director Ranjit Tiwari says the idea of including this form of music came from daily life incidents. He says, “Sometimes, when we are talking to someone, the person is tapping his foot. It is from here that we got the idea of giving these traits a musical bend. So, while writing the characters of the film, these traits naturally became a part of them.” Producer Nikkhil Advani says that they explored the a cappella style as the song is based in jail and the inmates wouldn’t be familiar with musical instruments. ‘Since inmates aren’t used to musical instruments, we decided to incorporate a cappella’

B-Town bans internet archival site The internet archival site, Wayback Machine, has been blocked. Users trying to access the site have been receiving messages saying the block is upon the directions of India’s Department of Telecom. The stoppage comes as a result of two Bollywood production companies issuing a mass takedown request against websites allegedly hosting pirated copies of

their films. The website bans were granted by the Madras High Court on August 2. They had been sought by Prakash Jha and Ekta Kapoor for their film, Lipstick Under My Burkha and Red Chillies Entertainment for Jab Harry Met Sejal. Wayback is an Internet archive with billions of pages saved over the past two decades.

Facing the wrath Pakistani actors, Saba Qamar, who was seen in the Irrfan Khan-starrer Hindi Medium, and Imran Abbas, who featured in Creature 3D (2014) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), have found themselves to be at the receiving end of trolls. Battling climate change THE poster of Nila Madhab Panda’s film Kadvi Hawa, which addresses the issue of climate change, was unveiled yesterday by Erik Solheim, the general and executive director, United Nations Environment Programme. Andrew Chapman lives in a nine-unit condo building converted from a boutique hotel in downtown Montreal near the busy Berri-UQAM Metro station, a desirable home in a desirable area of an internationally popular city. So much so, that Chapman has found himself to be the building’s only full-time resident — because the rest of the units are being rented on services like Airbnb. “Gradually over the past couple of years since I bought my condo, I’ve noticed the creeping in of more and more short-term renters,” he said in an interview on Tuesday. ‘They’re basically running hotels’: Property management companies Airbnb’s biggest winners “We buy houses, whether it’s on a street with picket fences or in a condo, and part of the experience is to get to know your neighbours and build relationships with the people that live close to you,” he said. “In this type of environment, you miss out on that a little bit. It can feel a bit lonely at times.” Chapman contacted CBC News about his experience after McGill urban planning professor David Wachsmuth said on Monday that new research he led shows Airbnb is eating into the available housing stock in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto, as well as driving up rents. Even so, a huge shift in business tenancy is expected as the region experiences something it has not seen before: an office-tower building boom much of which is speculative construction rather than for specific committed tenants. “This is kind of uncharted territory for Vancouver,” said Mehdi Shokri, a principal with the capital markets team at Avison Young. “But I don’t see a big disaster occurring.” The Credit Suisse tower is only the most visible and furthest along of a second wave of new office towers planned for Vancouver and some key suburbs. A property may be listed on the service, but not necessarily rented. However, data provided on the independent open-source website, Inside Airbnb, shows there were at least 2,952 listings for the Plateau area as of May 2016. According to the housing committee, there are 56,580 places to live in the Plateau, meaning a little over five per cent of the neighbourhood’s housing is listed on Airbnb. Wachsmuth himself estimates about two per cent of the area’s housing stock is not available to rent because it’s for rent on Airbnb. Renaud said the group has seen a concentration of listings around parks, like Laurier Park and Lafontaine Park, as well as the Mont-Royal Metro station.

Based on government statistics, Macdonald is forecasting a seven-per-cent increase this year in international students attending B.C. educational institutions. Meanwhile, the market-dampening 15-per-cent foreign buyers’ tax and tighter mortgage qualification requirements mean that parents of students are less likely to buy homes for their children, said Marini. As a result, a larger number of students will be hunting for rental housing this fall, increasing demand for accommodation. Real estate expert Tom Davidoff at the UBC Sauder Business School agrees that this fall will be far worse than past years for rental housing availability. “The biggest impact is people deciding not to get into the owner market,” Davidoff told CBC. “Policies that result in decreased demand on the owner side will likely result in increased demand on the renter side.” “Our view is that demand for housing from international students coming to B.C., generally, and Greater Vancouver, in particular, is likely to reach a new peak this academic year,” says Dan Scarrow of Macdonald Realty in a brief. He predicts there will be a net increase of 9,000 foreign students coming to B.C. this academic year, with about 6,300 of those settling in Metro Vancouver. Also contributing to the student inflow is the fact that Canadian immigration policies are clearer than U.S. ones and encourage students to come here to study and ultimately apply for immigration, said Scarrow.
