The US Mission in India has issued a record-breaking 82,000 student visas in 2022, higher than any other country. According to an official statement, Indian students comprise nearly 20 percent of all international students studying in the United States.

Saskatchewan RCMP confirmed Wednesday the capture of Myles Sanderson, a suspect in one of the worst mass killings in Canadian history, after an intense four-day search that held national and international attention. Police later confirmed that Sanderson was pronounced dead in hospital shortly after being taken into custody. Global News first reported Sanderson’s death citing multiple law enforcement sources,

Federal cabinet ministers are mulling over how to help Canadians shoulder the weight of inflation but Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is warning that any help from the government will target the most vulnerable and must be fiscally responsible.

Hughes became angry at Denham because she could not find the house keys and for about 15 to 20 minutes he shouted at her from outside the residence as he was going back and forth between the residence and the vehicle waiting for them.

He put a hockey bag and a box into the trunk of the vehicle and then re-entered the residence where he saw a shotgun on the floor in the foyer. While he did not own the shotgun, had not fired it in the past and did not know if it was loaded, he was aware that the weapon and some ammunition was in the home.

Jack Sepple, 23, admitted to killing Ashley Wadsworth, 19, in Chelmsford Crown Court in Essex, which is about two hours northeast of London.

Visiting the shelters also presented an opportunity to speak with everyone and learn about the peoples’ situations and how to best help them.

“After speaking with Julia — a manager at Parkway Shelter — she made it clear that more accessible permanent housing is urgently needed. Although the shelters are meant to be temporary solutions, some individuals have been living there for numerous years,” Sanctis recalled.

“Even though it’s not going to sustain them a long time, they need to know that they’re supported in their community,” Sukhija said.

Feeling ostracized is a common reality for the people that the students spoke with. Many of them expressed “how hard it is to be re-integrated into a society where they can be accepted.”

“We would see them open the packages and immediately start using the stuff which was really heart-warming to see,” Sukhija said.

“It was really important for me to get that kind of direct fingertip feel of what is happening in the Canadian economy and what Canadians are feeling,” she said before heading into the second day of the retreat Wednesday.

For Sukhija, it was seeing news from other countries where people of colour were being discriminated against that made her want to do something. Seeing people who looked like her be treated much worse than she was experienced was a wake-up call for her.

In one of Wadsworth’s last posts on Facebook, she uploaded photos of herself with Sepple at various tourist locations, calling it an “amazing trip to London.”

Prior to the Feb. 26, 2019 slaying, the couple had been in a tumultuous relationship and both used drugs.

Gendron said her daughter had a six-month visa to visit Sepple and was supposed to come home in April.

Just a year prior, he’d been convicted for another Calgary attack very similar to the one that killed Davidson — but a sentencing judge ensured that Miklic was out within seven months.

The number of patients with COVID-19 in B.C. hospitals ticked upward this week, as admissions showed signs of continuing their downward trend.

“Our focus this week, as we kick off what will be a busy and important fall of parliamentary work, is on the economy, is hearing from Canadians, working with Canadians to solve the very real pressures they’re facing,” Trudeau told reporters in Vancouver, where the cabinet retreat is happening.

As of Sept. 8, there were 324 cases in hospital, a one-week increase of 18, while the number of cases in critical care fell by three to 22, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

The measures announced by Premier John Horgan on Wednesday could save a family of four up to $1,500. The child opportunity benefit has also been changed to the B.C. Family Benefit.

After a summer when many Canadians experienced travel chaos and the effects of inflation at the grocery store and gas pumps, ministers are likely to bring to the table the concerns they’ve heard first-hand while in their constituencies and meeting others across the country.

He’s a great gentleman, but no we have no relation or anything like that,” said the lawyer, a partner law with Virsa Law Group LLP in Panorama.

Almost 15% Indian students submit fake documents with visa application: German

Indian students do not lose out on their studies.

The Royal Canadian Mint hasn’t printed a secret stash of currency with the new King’s face, nor has it even produced the tooling required to strike coins bearing the new monarch’s large-eared likeness.

The last $20 bill design was issued in 2018, with the BOC stating in the months before its release that it would produce its future banknotes in around five years with whoever was monarch at the time.

With that five-year window closing, it is unknown if this new design has already been finalized, or if a new banknote could soon appear depicting the new monarch.

Canada will be getting new currency bearing the visage of the new King Charles III, but if you’re expecting to see the new coins and bills rolled out overnight, you might be in for a much longer-than-expected wait.

There are several reasons for this. There was really no guarantee that Charles would be crowned king, and though it was a safe bet, you don’t invest public resources into even the most educated of hunches. Even if the Mint guessed correctly, his title was still undetermined at the time of the Queen’s passing.

“We are very unhappy about the current situation. It is a big concern for us, because we want Indians to get visas smoothly and quickly,” he said during an interaction with the media.

We issued over 82,000 student visas this summer alone, more than in any previous year,” said Charge d’Affaires Patricia Lacina, in a official statement on Tuesday.

But according to the National Post, technological advances allow the Mint to go from drawing to production in a matter of days, meaning the main hurdle in the process is the Royal Family’s approval of the portrait. And portraits have indeed been vetoed in the past.

Sanderson, who was facing multiple charges related to a series of fatal stabbings on Sunday, was apprehended around 3:30 p.m. local time near Rosthern, a town north of Saskatoon and more than 100 kilometres southwest of James Smith Cree Nation, where many of the attacks took place. Multiple law enforcement sources told Global News police used a “pursuit intervention technique” — ramming Sanderson’s vehicle on one side and causing it to spin off the highway. Blackmore said the vehicle was “directed off the road and into a nearby ditch” where officers were able to identify Sanderson as the driver. A knife was found inside the vehicle after he was taken into custody. “Shortly after his arrest, he went into medical distress,” Blackmore said, and “all lifesaving measures that we’re capable of were taken,” including CPR. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for man wanted in relation to a shooting near McLeod Trail in July as police search for the people inside a car that was in the line of fire. Calgary police were called to the intersection of Macleod Trail and 10th Avenue S.E. around 2 a.m. on July 12 for reports that a blue car had been shot at. Police said witnesses saw a man fire a handgun at the vehicle as it travelled north. In a news release issued Tuesday, police said they are unsure if the shooting was targeted. Philip Beynon, 43, is charged with sexual assault and unlawful confinement. A New Westminster man has been charged after allegedly holding a woman captive. On the morning of Sept. 4, police received a 911 call from a woman who said she was sexually assaulted and being held against her will. She was able to provide a description of her surroundings, which led officers to an apartment in the 300-block Hospital Street. The woman tried to climb over a balcony to get out, but was pulled back inside by the suspect, said the New Westminster Police Department.

The province’s largest publicsector union has reached a tentative agreement with the B.C. government.

The news comes after significant job action, which started back in August, that crippled the province’s liquor and cannabis distribution network, whose stores are still experiencing significant shortages.

For Liquor Distribution Branch employees, the new contract also lays out a one-time economic subsidy equivalent to $4/hour for a 16-week period retroactive to April 1, 2022. This works out to about $2,560 for any worker who worked a regular 40-hour week.

The negotiated contract for BC General Employees’ Union members, who will now vote on the new deal, includes increases to all rates of pay by 25 cents per hour in the first year, effective back to April 1, and then an increase to all rates of pay by 3.24 per cent.

The rollout of British Columbia’s fall COVID-19 booster program is expected to begin next week, according to provincial health authorities.

Locke said her party had done polling and believe public sentiment to keep the RCMP is strong, especially now that “people are starting to understand the extraordinary cost of changing to the municipal police department.”

Henry said the vaccine offers protection against all Omicron sub-variants, including BA.4 and BA.5, which are presently the dominant ones in circulation. Invitations to book a booster shot will start going out later this week, with the first wave targeting health-care workers and at-risk groups, including those with compromised immunity or a chronic condition, Indigenous people, those in communal living situations and people aged 60 and over.

Starting this week, the Moderna bivalent vaccine will start arriving in the province. The Health Canada-approved vaccine has a greater effect against the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), with an aim to tackle the backlogs and increase processing capacity, will soon transition to 100 percent online applications for almost all permanent immigration programs. The transition will be done in a phased manner.

Rent-to-own is a unique path to home ownership that delays one of the biggest hurdles for new homebuyers — the hefty down payment.

The development is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, an elementary school, daycare and the SFU Burnaby campus. The two low-rise, wood-framed buildings are positioned around a central courtyard and a standalone community space, providing opportunities for parents and children to meet, play and build a sense of community. The buildings also feature study rooms, secure bike storage and a bike workshop space.

Of that $2 billion, $200 million is earmarked for a new rent-to-own program. This fund, managed by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. An Indian Airlines Boeing-737 domestic passenger aircraft, departing from the Delhi airport and scheduled to land at Amritsar, was hijacked by 5 terrorists in 1981. Contradictory to the Pakistan government’s denial of his presence, Gajinder Singh, an accused hijacker of a 1981 Indian Airlines flight, revealed his current location was Pakistan’s Punjab province. The location of the fugitive terrorist surfaced after the individual posted an image of himself, posing for the camera in front of a gurudwara, on his Facebook profile. The runaway hijacker of an Indian Airlines aircraft, which was headed to Amritsar and was forcibly diverted to Lahore in 1981, uploaded his image on Monday. Singh, known as the co-founder of the radical organisation Dal Khalsa, shared his photograph, standing in front of Pania Sahib Gurudwara at Hasal Abdal in Pakistan’s province of Punjab.

Russian oil is still making its way to the US and other countries that have imposed some form of sanctions on Moscow by way of India, according to a report from Petro-Logistics.

US and other countries sanctioned Moscow are likely to import Russian oil via India - report

Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna has introduced a standalone Bill in the US House of Representatives seeking a waiver to India against the punitive CAATSA sanctions, asserting that it is in the best interests of both countries to deter “aggressors” in light of Russia and China’s close ties.

“We have taken the ratio of Russian crude imports versus the runs of the specific refiners who imported the crude and applied those percentages to their product exports since the war. This yields an estimate of 308 kb/d of Indian product exports possibly attributable Russian crude oil inputs,” Petro-Logistics said.
