WELCOME As the shorter days and longer nights draw in, why not take time to look at some of the new and exciting things on offer, here at Theatr Brycheiniog this autumn.
If you would like to find out a little more, why not join us here on Thursday 8 September, when I will be introducing the Autumn Season, at our popular Programme Launch. This is a great opportunity to see and hear firsthand about forthcoming events planned up until Christmas. Not only do we have a great line up of productions this season, but we are also launching a number of new participatory events for people of all ages. These include the launch of our new Youth Theatre for children and young people aged 4 to 25, a series of half-term activity days, Parent & Toddler weekly music sessions and Singing for Seniors. This is just the start of our new participatory programme, so please keep a look out on our website as further activities are developed and launched. If you have a burning desire to learn a new creative skill and think others might like to join you, why not let us know. If you are an artist or workshop leader and would like to lead a weekly session or a one off session contact us and sign up on our Let’s Get Creative @ Brycheiniog register of artists.
We also launch our new Brecon Comedy Club on the last Friday each month from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to see some amazing emerging comedians and others who are beginning to establish themselves on the comedy circuit. Remember you could have seen them here first.
This autumn will see some changes to our catering and bars as we bring our catering offer in house and launch our all new Waterfront Bar and Bistro. In the interim, the bar is open all day serving light refreshments. As we move towards Christmas, we bring schools and families the opportunity to see the great Roald Dahl classic, George’s Marvellous Medicine from Birmingham Stage Company; as well as a new production for Under 5’s of The Emperor’s New Clothes. Between Christmas and New Year, we will be bringing you our traditional family pantomime Dick Whittington, in partnership with Jermin Productions. SIR CHRIS BONINGTON LIFE AND TIMES
Britain's best known mountaineer and one of the most successful expedition leaders in history, Sir Chris Bonington began climbing at the age of 16 and has undertaken nineteen Himalayan expeditions, including four to Everest. He is renowned for having made many first ascents in the Alps and all the greater ranges of the world. Sir Chris was the first mountaineer on the lecture circuit and, this autumn, he will present his 'Life & Times', covering his sixty years spent in the mountains. The play centres around an actionpacked night in a pub and the customers who frequent the bar and the relationship between them - all played by just ‘two’ actors. Its main characters, the Landlord and Landlady, interlace a variety of characters each affected by another specific character. At extremes with each other; he the hands on money-in-till manager, she the gossipy heart of the bar. Their façade ultimately cracks when a young boy in search of his missing dad appears and they are forced to face the loss of their child years before.

YOUNG-CHOON PARK South Korean born pianist Young-Choon Park began the study of the piano at the age of four and gave her first full recital when she was seven. She played the Beethoven Piano Concerto No.1 with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine. She has toured extensively, giving over 50 concerts every year in Europe, South Africa and the United States. YoungChoon Park has broadcast for radio and television in many countries and is currently recording the complete Mozart piano concertos for Duchesne World Records in Belgium. Robin Martin, curator of Qiao/Bridge says: “I’m very impressed by the rich diversity of these artists’ work.“ Their works represents differing aspects of modern Chinese art whilst demonstrating the excellence of their skill in different media. It is fascinating to see the influence of Western art movements fusing with the traditions of Chinese art in the work of these highly individual artists. HYNT Art and culture is for everyone. But if you have an impairment or a specific access requirement, getting to see it isn’t always easy. Often, visiting a theatre or an arts centre can be more complicated than just booking tickets and choosing what to wear.

Hynt is a new national access scheme that works with theatres and arts centres in Wales to make sure there is a consistent offer available for visitors with an impairment or specific access requirement, and their carers or personal assistants.
Mae Hynt yn gynllun mynediad cenedlaethol newydd sy’n gweithio gyda theatrau a chanolfannau celfyddydau yng Nghymru i sicrhau bod cynnig cyson ar gael i ymwelwyr â nam neu ofynion mynediad penodol ac i’w Gofalwyr a’u Cynorthwywyr Personol. BOOKING INFORMATION Theatr Brycheiniog is open Monday to Saturday from 9.00am to 10.00pm on performance nights (9.00am to 5.00pm otherwise). When a performance is scheduled on a Sunday or Public Holiday, the theatre will open from one hour before the show starts.
MONEY SAVERS CONCESSIONS Unless indicated otherwise, concessions are available if you are under 16, a student, a senior citizen (60 yrs+), claiming disability benefit, an Equity member or registered unwaged. Please bring proof of eligibility to the performance. For further information about concessions, please contact box office.
GROUP Reduced rates are available at many performances when you bring a party of ten or more – check with box office for details.

Tickets for every performance promoted by Theatr Brycheiniog is subject to a 50p administration fee. This fee contributes to covering our ticket retail and secure payment processing costs. Customers may wish to make an additional contribution by way of a charitable donation of £1.00 or more.
Tickets may not be refunded unless an event is cancelled. Tickets may be exchanged for different tickets for the same show. A £2.00 fee per ticket will be charged for exchanges.
