The most exciting, not-to-be-missed event of the summer is National Theatre Wales’ production of The Persians by Aeschylus being performed at the army base at Sennybridge. I am particularly delighted that Powys is the preferred location for this memorable piece and that Theatr Brycheiniog is supporting the production.

THE PERSIANS BY AESCHYLUS IN A NEW VERSION WRITTEN BY KAITE O’REILLY DIRECTED BY MIKE PEARSON CONCEPTUAL DESIGN BY MIKE BROOKES DESIGNED BY SIMON BANHAM MUSIC BY JOHN HARDY A community holds its breath, awaiting news of a distant conflict. Older men are bullish; women full of doubt. The tension is electric. Then the messenger appears. The old order collapses. A time for accusation and blame. A time for summoning ghosts. A time of confusion, chaos and collapse. In a vivid retelling of Aeschylus’s The Persians, the earliest of recorded dramas, themes of naked ambition, desire and retribution echo down centuries. In the setting of a bleak

replica village, raw sensations of destruction and desolation are stirred. And in the presence of bodies, and emotions, cameras, screens and soundtracks, the ancient world charges to meet our own. PERFORMED IN ENGLISH

DIRECTORY THEATR BRYCHEINIOG IS MUCH MORE THAN A THEATRE. TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT ELSE IS ON OFFER...

TIPPLE’N’TIFFIN @ BRYCHEINIOG RELAX WITH A GLASS OF ONE OF OUR MODERN STYLE WINES AND A LIGHT DISH OR TWO BEFORE THE SHOW; OR STAY WITH US FOR A HEARTIER MEAL AND ENJOY THE FULL RANGE OF OUR CAREFULLY CHOSEN MENU WITH SOMETHING TO SUIT EACH AND EVERY TASTE.

Whether you’re looking for a great night out with a party, a business lunch, an intimate dinner or pre-show supper, Tipple’n’Tiffin provides the perfect location. Whatever you choose, and whomever you choose to share it with, we are sure that you will enjoy the Tipple’n’Tiffin experience in the stunning canalside setting of Theatr Brycheiniog.

Prepared with fresh, local ingredients, the dishes complement each other and can be combined in a way you choose. It’s a chance to experiment with something new.

Richard and Louise Gudsell look forward to welcoming you soon...

Or perhaps enjoy an old favourite with a twist. You can share each dish with the rest of your party or keep your plate to yourself - its up to you! We just want you to enjoy your food, your wine and being together.
